We were here for a light lunch of nachos and prosecco last week. The prices were a little high, but probably typical for an outdoor restaurant in NYC. We really enjoyed the chips - there were a couple kinds in the basket, maybe some banana chips and some sort of nutty potato chip. They were really good! We had a great time and really enjoyed being able to sit and eat outside in the park.

Great bar in a park with a lovely atmosphere. It’s an open air bar but there are tables under umbrellas in case it starts to rain.

It’s about $8 for a beer and $18 for a cocktail.

This became a regulat haunt following the anti-children policy in place at the Refinery hotel. Kids are not allowed in either of the bars after 6pm at night there.

Southwest Porch is an open-air bar located at the southwest corner of Bryant Park. I just looooove this beautiful, green, tree-covered space in the big, bad City: a genteel haven from the traffic and crowds. (The crowds are there also, of course, but somewhat tamed by the peaceful ambiance..) Just wonderful.

People flock here at all hours of the day, but it’s closed to the public, per NYC’s park management policy. There is always something happening here: movies, shows, music, dance, group activities and exercise… you name it. Sitting at the Porch and having a drink while watching this seething mass of activity around you is just one of the most relaxing “activities” imaginable.

The bar serves a select menu of drinks and accompaniments ~ mostly chips and salsa. No real food or cooked items. Wish they’d serve more than just those plantain chips, though. Who the heck likes fried bananas ?

With all of the hustle and bustle in a city that never sleeps, this was an excellent way to just sit and take it all in with a nice cocktail and lunch. This place is an outdoor bar type eatery right inside Bryant Park, a great place to just sit and relax. Menu is limited: $10 salad; $16 dollar burgers fries additional $10; $15 chicken sandwich; beer on tap $9; cocktails $15 and up.
Pricy lunch but the food was good and the view was exceptional. Glad we stopped by.

In Bryant park the Southwest Porch restaurant is located at the west side. In the evening when it is getting darker the view on the buildings is nice. We had a dinner there and it was good. Nice people serving.

It is a great way to slow down and relax in the middle of the city. People watching is a great diversion. The food was better than average and the wine-by-the-glass menu was better than average. The café reminds one of Paris.

Food and drinks were good and reasonable value. Location excellent. Good to be outside. BUT,
Not enough staff which led to slow service and having to chase wait staff up for drinks and bills etc.

If you're in the Time Square area and need a break from the hustle and bustle. Stop in Bryant Park have a seat at the Porch for a quick small bite or a refreshing glass of sauvignon blanc. Great for people watching or a after work cocktail. I like the swing seat...you really feel like you're just chill'n on the Porch on a warm day!.

From the many food choices at Bryant Park we choose Southwest Porch. The burger was the advertised 1/2 pound, wonderfully flavoured and served on a freshly made bun. The only drawback was they only served decaf finance coffee. Service was prompt and courteous.
