“Extremely small rooms, but very nice”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

We stayed overnight recently to attend a friend's daughters wedding nearby. The Duane was much more affordable than the hotel where the reception was taking place. Firstly it helps if one considers that when in NYC everything is a lot pricier than most places in the US. Once that is digested, then we can proceed. I was impressed with the wonderful bed in our room. It was excellent. Also, all the appointments were first class. Also, the people working there were top notch. I guess the only complaint I have is that the square footage of our room was about the size of 2 elevators. Also, the location can't be beat.

Room Tip: I think they are all tiny

Our stay was comfortable and conveniently looked for where we needed to be in NY. However, we always book our hotel rooms through traveling sites. This is the smallest of the hotels we've ever stayed in so it's understandable that rooms may be limited. However, per usual my boyfriend asked if it was possible to get a room on a higher floor or one with a bigger bed (of course, if it's available). Well I guess there were none and the gentlemen at the front desk found it necessary to throw in a snide comment. So his reply to our request was "No we don't have any rooms available..., plus you did book through Hotwire..." I don't really care how I booked my room. We were still guests and deserved to be treated with the same respect as everyone else... Customer service 101, you should not talk to people with such a tone a snide comment. That alone completely rubbed my boyfriend and I the wrong way.

Room Tip: Ask for a floor on a high floor or not facing the street. People walking on the sidewalk can literal...

I had just a few little things to critique, but will definitely stay there on my next business trip. My toilet ran all night and day, which was very annoying and easily heard given the rooms are a bit cozy. It drove me nuts but the hotel was sold out so they could not switch the room.

There are also no vending machines inside the hotel so you'd have to buy drinks about 1/2 block away.

I was on the second noise and felt the subway quite a bit. However you get used to it and was totally fine. I'd probably request a room higher up next time.

The bed, as most said, was fantastic. Really good night's sleep.

Overall comfy, good location, nice employees and some lovely little touches. A few things to improve on but a quality stay. Will recommend to friends.

Staying at the Duane st. Hotel I can only say this property has the most amazing bed ever...
Hotel facilities are pretty standard and basic , lobby feels outdated and very small sized but when you go up to your room you find yourself with a nice, well decorated room which invites to enjoy it. The bed and duvet is just the best one I have ever tried in NYC... I highly recommend this property and the service in general from the front desk was fantastic. Good job!

Really great value for money. Will defo go again! Why? Location, location, staff, rooms, shopping - and the beds :-)

The room and hotel facilities were very clean and well kept. The location was very convenient - walking distance to Soho, City Hall, Financial District, easy access by Subway everywhere else. So nice to come back to freshly baked cookies after a day of adventures. Plenty of great neighborhood restaurants in the area at very reasonable prices.

Too expensive considered what you pay for. The positive is its location in Tribeca, no doubt it's among the best. And on the 4th floor you only hear street noise faintly and the subway you can hardly feel. Last but not least, the bed was really good!
That's about it. Our Superior king room was very small. I would call it tiny! Interior has an Ikea finish and he bathroom need to be renovated, it looked very used.
And while the outside noise was minimal, the noise from neighboring rooms was indeed a nuisance — especially late at night.
The restaurant Metaphor was interesting, but breakfast way too expensive.

Room Tip: Rooms facing church street have morning sun.

Thank you for taking time to post comments, we appreciate the feedback as it helps us to constantly improve our product. I am happy to hear that you enjoyed your bed, given that the rooms are small we try to compensate with excellent amenities such as very comfortable linen and mattresses. I am sorry to hear that you found neighboring rooms noisy late at night as we pride ourselves as a peaceful sanctuary away from the busy streets of New York. We will take action based on your comments to ensure that any future stay will prove more comfortable.

We stayed here for just one night and i must say it was fabulous. All the staff was helpful. The room was modern and clean. Italian linens and down pillows. I have stayed at many hotels in New York but this is now my go to hotel. It is also very accessible to many downtown sites.
