My husband and I spent five days at the London Hotel.
We wanted something mid town, close to Times Square, Central Park, Lincoln Center and great restaurants. The London was the perfect place. For an upscale hotel it was reasonably priced for New York. The service was terrific. Rooms were large with nice amenities.
We did not have dinner in the hotel but did have breakfast, early evening snacks and late night drinks.
The only reason I did not rate it excellent is I would have like to have seen better lighting in the dressing room/bath area. As a woman I find it impossible to put make-up on in a dimly lit bathroom.

Room Tip: I enjoyed a higher floor with a few of the city

I have stayed twice in the last few months for business and always a great stay. The staff is very professional and friendly. The last visit the front desk person commented she remembered me from the last vist as did one of the servers in the restaurant. I believe having a great smile and attitude brings alot to a staff. The rooms are very comfortable and large for NYC standards. The beds very comfy with great silky linens. The bathrooms are spacious with all the toilietries on hand. The location is perfect and in the center of everything. If using the AMEX FH&R rate, an excellent value.

One visit during the summer, I was stranded in NYC due to a storm and returned to Manhattan. Since it was a day trip, I had nothing with me. The staff made sure I had everything to make the stay a pleasant one.

I've stayed here on business before and brought my partner back for a holiday. The rooms are considerably bigger than I have experienced in many past stays in the city at other 5 star hotels. The bed and linen are super soft and gave a great night's sleep - I'm one of those people who never believes a hotel bed can be comfier than my own bed back home, but this hotel is the exception. (I'm also strangely addicted to their toiletries). They have a good gym and a great bar. The food is what I would call 5 star NY hotel standard, rather than exceptional - but you're in New York, you have loads of choice. The staff were always friendly and polite, and in this I would say the customer service was exceptional.

Stayed at London NYC hotel in August 2012 and brought home bedbugs as a souvenir. $1,000 and much anguish to rid my house of the problem. Outrageous. Do not stay here! The room seemed nice. The hotel seemed clean. But, it was not.

I always try to stay at the London NYC when I am visiting the city. I love the location as it is so central and walking distance to shopping and the shows. All of the staff members are very considerate, professional and accommodating. Raj, at in-room dining actually remembers me when I call for room service. I ate at the Gordon Ramsey restaurant this trip and it was one of the best meals ever! I highly recommend that experience too or just going to the bar for a drink. The hotel is modern and hip with large rooms. I can't wait to return.

Location is fabulous! Hotel is a short walk to subways, Times Square, Fifth Avenue,Central Park and excellent restaurants. I agree with other reviewers that the first impression is the heavenly smell in the lobby! Check-in was a breeze which is so refreshing nowadays when so many hotels want the tablets from Moses to register you as a guest. I found The London an ironic name for the hotel as it didn't resemble any experience I've had of hotels in London; the atmosphere is rather cold and modern and a bit gloomy, although the flowers are outstanding as one would expect in such a topflight establishment. A better name would be "The New York" as it had more that sensibility to it. Nevertheless, The London boasts spacious suites that are surprisingly quiet given the urban location and they are extremely well-maintained and clean, but not much in the way of amenities given its reputation for luxury. In this day and age, one would expect a five-star hotel to supply a coffee-maker in its rooms, bottles of water and offer a better luggage rack and clothes hanging arrangement than the foreshortened combination luggage rack/dresser/clothes hanger that it affords its guests. The space is not at all adequate for longer garments like women's skirts, pants or dresses---longer dresses, forget about it! And since there is no actual closet, shoes and suitcases and whatnot are scattered helter skelter all over the area outside the bathroom. It would have been nice to have had a small dispensary in the hotel for emergency purchases like bandaids or aspirin. The restaurants are nice but not great for quick bites--all prix fixe and gourmet options and the atmosphere is weird, a cross between a chrome diner and the Jetsons and too brightly lit for its price category. There is a nice diner/casual restaurant around the corner if that's the kind of thing you are craving. As for dining out or entertainment, do not hesitate to consult the concierges as they are the best we've ever encountered. These young men are elegant, knowledgable, approachable, efficient and down to earth. Most of their recommendations are first-rate and they can get you in almost anywhere. Their recommendation of the restaurant Al Fiori (on Fifth Ave. in the The Setai) resulted in one of the best meals of our lives! We especially loved the night concierge, Michael, whom we imposed on many nights at the last minute for restaurant recommendations/reservations and he never failed us and didn't even act like we were a bother. Just lovely, lovely young men! A word to the wise: The London caters to a "Beautiful People" clientele. Depending on how you view things, you might see this as a plus or a minus but it is what it is. We were there during Fashion Week and it was exceptionally full of the chic and famous. Also, it seemed replete with high-priced call girls, more than any other 5-star hotel we've ever patronized. Don't know if it was the timing or if it's that way all the time but it was very noticable and, again, depending on your viewpoint, you might be offended or entertained. Watching them all stumble out of the hotel in their "party clothes" at 10 in the morning and hearing the doorman put them in cabs and say, "Glad to see you back again," can be a very "Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore" moment."

The location is one of the main attractions of the NYC London. Easy to walk to the theatre district, the park, shopping on 5th Ave. But what really sold me on it was that it is a chic hotel with very professional, friendly and welcoming staff. Not too fancy/stuffy, not too hip- just right.
