I really enjoyed my stay at the London. It is an excellent hotel, with a lovely interior, excellent and highly professional staff.

For a New York Hotels the rooms are very spacious, bordering on huge, with power sockets where you want them, a well appointed bathroom and very comfortable beds.

My only gripe about the hotel was the inane cost of the room service. $17.00 delivery charge, city tax not included in the prices and a further % levied by the hotel and then the tip. Ouch. However, once you get over the initial jet lag the rest of New Yorks far more reasonably priced food is only a minute away.

Do stay here.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a high floor facing North to get a good view.

It almost feels like a very pleasant routine, yet it is always special to return to the London. As before, doormen with a warm welcome, offer of help but absolutely no pushing. Very efficient, very friendly, warm welcome back greeting, you just feel at home within a minute. The corner vista suite is just outstanding both, in terms of amenities, space, and spectacular view from 5th Ave, to Central Park, to the Hudson river.
Room service and in room dining again of exquisite quality. The "Maze" Restaurant is another feature to rave about. Drinks , you must try their signature drink "the London", choice of wines by the glass and bottle, excellent, ad a dinner menue wirh few but great choices.
Service again, super nice, helpful and friendly. Good advice on food / wine combinations. The dinner was outstanding 3 times in a row. The scallop risotto, just perfect. The NY strip steak was one of the best I have ever had. The fish & chips wonderful.
Another superb experience was the helpfulness of the concierge. I lost my i-phone in a taxi on arrival at the hotel. The concierge provided me with all the useful information, the steps to take and kept calling my (overseas) No. to try and get a response, or alert a person next to the phone.
To keep a long story short not least because of this assistance, I got my phone back the next morning.
To sum it all up, for me probably the most worthwhile hotel stay anywhere, for service quality across all departments, a great, comfortable room, a perfect location and a wonderful bed

We stayed at The London NYC this weekend and everything was excellent! We got an amazing Amex Plat "Fine Hotels" deal which made it even sweeter. We had a lovely view of Central Park, more than a peekaboo, but not right on it, and a peekaboo view of the Hudson. The 500 sf Vista suite had a desk, sofa, chair, French doors to bedroom area, a lovely large shower with wonderful bath products, and a huge walk-in closet off the bathroom. I seriously could live here and be very happy! The staff was efficient and generally pleasant. The only things that detracted were: the chippy paint on the tic-tac-toe side table (being really picky!), the lineup for breakfast at 9:40am, and the cost of room service: 18% grat + $7 delivery + 9% tax charge on top of items being 25% more than in the restaurant. The Gordon Ramsay restaurant "Maze" was decent. The beds were fabulous, and the dark out drapes in the rooms were appreciated. And it's so quiet! I would come back without hesitation.

My family and I spent one evening at The London in late June. Our accommodations in our 2 bedroom/2 bath suite included wonderful baths. This was however where the upscale features of the hotel did begin and end. The small living room and the bedroom suites had furniture which was worn and scratched. The public areas including lobby and hallways were somewhat shabby in appearance and in need of a new lighting package. Our limited interaction with the staff was pleasant; however one needs nice surroundings as well as a pleasant staff. I suggest choosing another hotel should you be looking for upscale lodging in the city.

The London NY is best enjoyed by guests that "get" New York City. The doormen are cool guys that remember returning patrons who are courteous and appreciative of their exceptional skill. The concierge team are wise to the city and magically sophisticated when challenged. The housekeepers are meticulous and attentive to detail and request. The rooms are generous and the park views are good if you book the bigger suites. The location (on a side street) matters because you do not feel the rumble and noise of city traffic. The stylish hotel lobby is urbane and businesslike without a sitting room full of tourist and gawkers waiting on the double decker bus. The hotel is authentic big city style and is best enjoyed when the doorman sends you to Per Se in the big black hotel SUV instead of hailing you a cab.

Room Tip: Become a regular patron and you will be rewarded appropriately.

The London is one of my go-to hotels when in New York (I visit NYC about once a month). It is very well-situated for meetings in mid-town. The rooms are large (suites) and have large lovely bathrooms. The rooms are quiet and the beds are very comfortable with high quality bedding. On this last visit, however, my room was looking a bit tired. This is probably due to the fact that the couch was badly stained and thus gave the feeling that things were not being maintained. The staff (the front desk and bellmen) tends to be brusque but they are usually efficient at check-in. I have to say that I was disappointed on this visit, not so much due to one single thing but more as a general feeling due to the stained couch and the brusque service. With so many new boutique hotels that have recently opened up in NYC, The London should pay more attention to detail to stay on top of the game. That being said, I will still consider it on my next trip.

I recently stayed at the London New York while helping my daughter move into her new home. The hotel is dark. Very dark and seems to be attempting to set some sort of edgy mood by being so dark. I found that this darkness made me edgy because it made it very difficult for me to read or see anything in the room except while I was at the extremely well lit desk.

There is also a great deal of mention in the hotels informational materials about the involvement of Gordon Ramsay in the restaurant and room service operations. If Chef Ramsay is actually involved in this operation, I think he needs to insert himself into the menu building process a bit more. The selections on the room service menu were limited and of indifferent quality.

The location of the hotel is good and the staff seems to try awfully hard but it seems that they are trying awfully hard at the wrong things. They should try to lighten up a bit and make the place a little more fun and a little less faux dramatic.
