This is not a five star hotel. I would say four stars is the most this property deserves, although they would like to (and do) charge a greater than deserved room rate which should equate to a better experience. Location is convenient to the Central Park, Times Square, Fifth Avenue and other midtown destinations. This is my first time staying at The London, as most of Manhattan seemed very busy and it was a late booking on my part. I stayed there on July 22nd and 23rd.

When checking in late in the day, I was shocked to see three separate breakfast room service trays remaining outside the rooms at 4:30 in the afternoon. When I left for dinner at 6:30pm, they were still there in the hallway. Were they really there all day?

Being up high was nice, but the views were primarily of other tall buildings looking right back at you. There was a sliver of the park peaking through, being on the 42nd floor. It was quiet and I did not notice any noise issues all night.

I think it is an all “suite” hotel. I was in what they call The London Suite. Kind of funky furniture in the rooms, just odd looking pieces, like a mauve velvet kidney bean shaped sofa way too far from the smallish TV and a sea of hardwood floor without any area carpet or charm whatsoever. Maybe it was supposed to be a small dance floor. It was not a room you wanted to hang out in. While there was a functional desk area the desk chair was decidedly uncomfortable as it had a deep, curved back and you never actually could slide back in it. I would have preferred a Fit ball to that chair, or get a serious desk chair like an Aeron.

On the plus side, they give you free wireless internet access and plenty of convenient electrical outlets.

Light switches were in odd locations (not right by the doorway or by the end of the hallway, for example) and it proved hard to get the room lit properly without walking all around the room to find the light switches and turn on desk lamps, floor lamps and so forth. I did like the fact that all the drapes and sheers in the room were electronically operated from adjacent wall switches. That was a huge plus because there are a lot of windows in the room.

There was only one thermostat in a two room suite such that is is hard to control the temperature in both rooms when one room is warmer than the other. In the bedroom, the air conditioning duct is just above the door, directing the cold air right to the top of the bed, so you have air blowing on your face all night long.

The bathroom is generously sized, and while it is a large walk in shower (with shower heads on both ends of the rectangular shower), it looked a bit worn, sort of like the showers in gym during high school. It was only a single sink, but there was ample counter space surrounding it.

I did not try the gym or take advantage of the spa.

Staff is very pleasant and check in process was effortless.

Only tried the restaurant for breakfast on two separate occasions. Breakfast is certainly not something that Gordon Ramsay has anything to do with at The London. It has the perfunctory buffet, nothing special. But if you want to order off the menu, expect lackadaisical staff. It was hard for them to even bring decaf coffee for one of my guests - nearly 10 minutes to get a cup of coffee. And then to get the check was a challenge. My sense is that they expect everyone to take advantage of the buffet so are not accustomed to actually serving people.

My stay at The London NYC was excellent. The staff members were friendly and courteous and the rooms were spacious and clean. The location was perfect and within reasonable walking distance to shopping, theaters, restaurants, Rockefeller Center, Times Square and Central Park. It definitely is first class.

Room Tip: Try to choose a room away from the elevators.

The London is a chick hotel in midtown NYC. Walkable distance to both Central Park and Times Square. You also have a very good chance of spotting numerous celebs during your stay. There are frequently members of the paparazzi outside waiting to take some pics.

The hotel itself is very nice. Great staff willing to,help. There is a nice bar/restaurant downstairs as well. The rooms are very early big with a nice sitting area and very comfy beds. Bathroom has a huge shower too.....one side has a rain shower and the other a regular shower.

Highly recommend this hotel for leisure or biz!

We stayed here for a few nights while holidaying in New York.

The rooms are especially spacious, service attentive and friendly and all amenities are on hand.

We didn't have a view but the room was quiet and the shower great!

The location was perfect- easy to explore NYC on foot or subway access close by.

I would happily recommend to other visitors to New York.

This was my second stay and even better than the first. The price is reasonable for the area and the hotel is in a great location. Rooms are large, spotless, and very comfortable. Staff is friendly and very efficient at any time of day. I came in late one evening needing a sewing kit, and the concierge had one brought to my room minutes after my request. Love this place and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this hotel. From start to finish it was a fabulous experience. The service was impeccable. Everyone was so friendly & helpful! We got great advice from the concierge about places to visit. The cleaning staff couldn't be more helpful & went out of their way to be fast & efficient. One morning we went to eat breakfast & came back to discover that they had cleaned all 3 of our rooms while we were eating!

The rooms were spacious. Each room opened into a small area containing a mini-bar & space for drinks. There was a spacious sitting room complete with a fun semi-circular sofa, office & rocking chair. The bedrooms were large with a spacious area for suitcases & hanging clothes. Beds were extremely comfortable with plenty of pillows (extras upon request). The bathroom was an experience. The shower was huge with two shower heads! The shower ran almost the entire length of the room. There were also comfortable robes to use. The rooms were clean with wonderful decor. Blackout curtains were found in each room. The rooms were also very quiet. I couldn't hear any noise in the hall but if I had I could close the doors to the bedroom for additional soundproofing. The layout allowed me to feel at home in my room. It was a great place to just rest & relax.

The location was perfect: Only a few blocks from Central park, within walking distance to Times Square & a block from the B,C D & E subway. There were plenty of restaurants & shops within walking distance as well. We felt close to everything we wanted to do.

The breakfast was great. The only slightly negative thing was that the restaurant was a bit slow in seating us if you got there after 9am. The fruit was extremely fresh. There was a nice selection of pastries, cereal, meats, cheeses & breads. We also ordered pancakes & eggs off the menu which were tasty. The same room became a very nice bar & restaurant later. We did not eat at the restaurant but drinks in the late evening were wonderful as well. It was a cozy, fun bar.

Next time we go to NYC this is where we would stay!

Stayed here for 4 nights in March and was def not disappointed ! Great location and great size rooms for NYC !
We had a standard room which was def not standard for this city, It was more like a small apartment with huge living area , bedroom , dressing room and huge bathroom with twin shower.
Staff where excellent and room service very fast.
Would def stay here again and had free wifi which is unusual for NYC hotels (since they like to charge for everything in this city) wifi was fast , electric curtains , fab lighting , loads of sockets for devices and great tv channels.
Beautiful hotel and a ten min walk to Times Square.
