Broadway Hotel and Hostel

Rooms were tidy and beds comfortable. Decor looks contemporary in style and new. Staff were generally quite helpful and enthusiastic. Walking distance from a subway station. Would stay here again in the future.

After having so much trouble
With accommodation we stayed here on out last night and it was fantastic! Apart from the ensuite being tiny the room was clean and comfortable!
Great service and they were very helpful I would stay here again if I ever come back!

We were here only one night, but I read good rewies for this hostel on Trip advisor. I agree. My room was clean, bed comfortable. Hostel Broadway is good for young people (students). It is closed to subway (to Times Square). Wi-fi in lobby.

For only 120 dollars per night, you will get the experience of living in a cell of a prison of New York. Tiny room, no blankets, noisy air conditioning, dirty bed sheets, dirty and smelly matresses, shared bathroom, rude service...
For a hostel, it would be just decent. For a hotel, it's unacceptable. Even for overpriced NYC, this place is expensive. You will be charged for letting your luggage there. Embarrasing.
Spend a little more and go to a better place, location is not even that good, it will take you a while by metro to get to any tourist attraction.

Not sure how this hotel/hostel got their awards. Location was good, what ticked me off is that they didn't even bother to put hooks or a hanging cabinet where you can hang your used towels and that is pretty basic. The toilets/showers are the same: no hooks to put your stuff, no paper towels to dry your hands or even a hand dryer.
We stayed on a shared bathroom accommodation on the 2nd fl and it was noisy due to the cars passingby whereas I already emailed them if we could get a rm away from the road. It's as if they took a piss out of what I requested them. For a 150usd a night this was the worst hostel I stayed but then I suppose you can't really get a cheap accommodation in NY anyway. If you have more money, please avoid this place.

Room Tip: Their eh suite is probably fine, but it's not cheap.

When we got to our room and opened the door I freaked out. My husband wanted to make the best of it but I could not sleep in that room. sidebar...I love to primitive camp...I'm not prissy.
The room...paint peeling off the walls, beadspread filthy, could hardly get to the bed due to small size. Anyway, we went to the front desk to check out. I didn't even care if they refunded or not. sidebar...we are not wealthy. After the manager insisted I stop swearing at her she offered another room. I was skeptical but what could we lose. The room she gave us was very nice, updated and clean. She also gave us a discount.
The location was awesome. Central park is right down the street.

Room Tip: The first room we were in had a building right next to it and that was the view. It was on the 3rd...

We stayed at the Broadway at the start of an organised 2 week trip and then again at the end.

It's situated uptown in an ok-ish area, about a 12 minute walk from Central Park.

When we first arrived there was some confusion about our group booking and they seemed to not have our names or the group booking - we were told to sit and wait and no one came to tell us anything. so after half an hour we asked and they said they'd actually found the booking but the rooms wouldn't be ready for another two hours.

Once in the room on the 7th floor (lift is very small and a bit shaky!) my husband and I were quite disappointed - the room was very small and had bunk beds - the sheets didn't appear very clean and the towels were old and ropey. Our bags had been delivered to someone else's rom which we had to go and find. We had to use a shared bathroom which was quite unpleasant. Also wifi above the 4th floor is non existent. The room had a small very old aircon unit which we turned off after 10 mins of it being on as it was so loud.

However on the last nights of our trip we stayed here again - check in was very simple and the girl on reception was very efficient and friendly. We were on the 3rd floor in a simple but nice double ensuite room with quiet aircon and a TV.

So I guess it's a bit luck of the drawer - I would suggest ringing or emailing ahead to check exactly what type of room you'll have and on what floor.
