“Really Good Museum Food: salumi misti and affogato”
Reviewed 18 April 2014

I love to eat in museums and I've eaten in a lot of them.

The food at MOMA's Cafe 2 is really good. And, given that the museum was really crowded, this was the perfect place to stop and have a snack. (There is also a cafe on floor 5 but it is smaller, has a limited menu, and it takes longer to get a table).

Reservations are not taken. You wait your turn. The line may look long but it moves quickly.

The long tables are mostly communal. Seating to the far right in front of the windows consists of bar stools, either at a bar along the window or at high four tops.

The kitchen is open to the restaurant. On the day we were there is was a little heavy with food smells. We asked to be seated near the window on the high stools.

Two of us shared a salumi misti - you can choose 3 meats from a list of about 6 - same with the cheese. It came with big crackers, olives, and an apricot compote. For dessert, we had affogatos. (I think the gelato comes from il laboratorio). Everything was excellent.

You can pay with a credit card. The server has a credit card machine so you do not have to lose sight of your card.

Our server was very friendly and efficient.

It was a perfect break for us.

“Nice atmosphere, coffee & desserts!!!”
Reviewed 5 April 2014

Busy place, great staff, coffee as much as you can drink. Nice break when visiting the MoMa museum. They serve lunch options as well, although we have not tried them.

There you can find a little bit of everything: coffee, wine, panini, pasta, soup, deserts and everything very good.
Nice stop for food.
