The hotel is close to the Lincoln Center and Central Park and within walking distance of Times Square, Broadway shows and the Avenue of the Americas. The hotel was clean and the staff helpful, especially the concierge. Wifi was available in the lobby and mezzanine but the light in the mezzanine made it very difficult to read. Great view from the window of the room of the Lincoln Center and all the cabs coming down the street.

Hello Gertie68,

Thank you for your recent stay at The Empire Hotel and for taking the time to share your very good experience with the Trip Advisor community.

It is so great when guests take the time to speak specifically of the location, cleanliness and service of the hotel. Often, these elements are taken for granted, so it is very rewarding when guests extend their generosity.

We do hope and trust that the next time your travels bring back across the continent, that The Empire Hotel is your first choice. If you need any assistance with future reservations or have questions, please email us at gm@empirehotelnyc.com.

All the best,

John S.

Stayed at the Empire from 4th to 9th June. Staff were fantastic, really helpful and welcoming, room was lovely, clean and spacious overlooking Lincoln Center, the food from room service was great and orders arrived promptly and piping hot. Shower pressure was great as well.

Elevators were out of service quite often which was a little frustrating, but the general level of service, hotel location and facilities more than made up for it. The roof terrace in particular was lovely, great to go for a quick dip in the morning with breakfast before heading out to see the city. The location was particularly great, and there was very little external noise outside, so evening though you are a stones throw from Central Park and Broadway, it felt much more peaceful. There is also a FANTASTIC italian restaurant called Fiorellis just over the road I cannot recommend enough, great service and wonderful food.

In room mini bar was quite expensive, but then I have never stayed in a hotel where the mini bar was exactly cheap, and with a starbucks and a drugstore literally next door, you were able to purchase anything you needed for a much more reasonable cost without having to go much beyond the front door. I would also advise paying to get the inroom wifi as the signal for the free wifi wasn't very strong, however the Starbucks next door has great free wifi as well, signal was really strong and I was able to upload photos and respond to my work emails there instead.

Only one big criticism and this is not really of the hotel but of the security staff who work for the rooftop bar, which I believe is run by an external company. They were very rude when I tried to access the rooftop bar, their tone was very aggressive and for some reason they tried to intimidate me when I asked the simple question 'is this the lift to the bar?'. I could perhaps understand if I had been drunk and disorderly or perhaps looked like a troublemaker, but as a 5 foot two well dressed female I felt their attempts to make their seniority known and leer over me to emphasise their height and make me feel like I was under scrutiny were entirely unnecessary. Also as a female staying alone in the hotel it did not make me feel very comfortable having to show such an intimidating man my room key and tell him the room number I was staying in. Also the bar itself was pretty dark inside and even on a relatively quiet early evening, it was difficult to get served quickly. Saying that, the outdoor area was lovely and well lit and the view is certainly worth seeing.

Very good location, reasonably priced, friendly staff, elevators and some bathroom fixtures not fully operable. Very difficult to get front desk on the phone or hotel operator however the personnel at the front desk and the bellmen were very helpful.

Hello markmich,

Thank you for your recent stay at The Empire Hotel. Sorry that your experience was only mediocre as we strive to exceed the expectations of all guests, from the moment their reservation is confirmed!

We are in the midst of a complete elevator replacement and this does require periodic shut downs and can occasionally affect the efficiency of the three working elevators.

We are very pleased to see that you thoroughly enjoyed the location, sleep quality and service levels as this is a significant part of all guest experiences.

We do hope that The Empire Hotel is within your realm of consideration when your planning begins for your next trip to New York. If there is anything we can assist with, please email us at gm@empirehotelnyc.com.

Thank you and all the best,

John S.

I love this hotel. It's nice, affordable and super clean. They were booked halfway through my NY stay and I had to move to The Lucerne, bummer, so book early! I wish they had free coffee for the price but I just bought some keurig pods at the rite aid on the corner instead of spending 5$ on a Keurig cup...

Clean, "quiet" room on east court (open to Broadway - some street noise, but good windows) was cramped. At 8 PM, bed was changed to non-allergenic, just 20 minutes after request! Only second door from elevators but never heard them. Main ones out an hour one afternoon, though. On third floor (fifth story), no noise from inside building.

Hello Jack R,

Thank you for your very positive review on Trip Advisor and not taking your very good experience, for granted. We appreciate your business and do hope we have the privilege of welcoming you back in the near future!

It is great to hear that we provided prompt and efficient service, when you needed assistance. In addition, you had a very quiet, comfortable and relaxing stay.

We are in the middle of a complete elevator overhaul. In the very near future, our four guest elevators will be state-of-the-art. Having said this and for the time-being, we do experience temporarily, elevators cars going out of service for various reasons.

When you begin planning your next trip to NYC, please email us at gm@empirehotelnyc.com and we'll be sure to take great care of you again.

Until then, all the best,

John S.

Very cool hotel and located right next to the Lincoln Center. Somewhat away from the main tourist spots (which was great) but close enough to a number of tasty restaurants and shopping. The room was small but that's NYC. Regardless, it was clean and stylish. The rooftop bar was a lot of fun (very young crowd) and as a guest you don't have to wait in line outside and go directly to the elevator to the roof. I wish I could have stayed longer and will definitely come back to this hotel.

Hello Sharon A,

Thank you very much for sharing your near perfect experience with us, on our Trip Advisor page. In addition, we appreciate you choosing The Empire Hotel, we do know there is a ton of options in Manhattan.

We couldn't agree with you more about our location, it is far enough away from the touristy areas if that is not your thing, but within walking distance if the likes of Times Square, is your thing.

Please do think of us again when your travels bring you back to New York. If you need any assistance, please email us at gm@empirehotelnyc.com.

Thanks again and all the best,

Going into the trip I knew from reviews that the rooms would be small and their would be fees for all food and drink (even coffee) in the room. No problem - the room was just a pit stop! Just beware. The shampoo/soap, etc. were great quality!! and there was a blow dryer!.

The biggest surprise to us was how upscale and modern the bathroom was. It was tiny, like the room, but had wonderful shower fixtures, sink and toilet :)). Beware, there is only one door for the shower, so my items on the floor of the bathroom got wet.

Overall, the best part of the hotel is the LOCATION. FAN.TAS.TIC location - can't be beat. Add to that the reasonable price and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again!

Hello NancyChef1,

Thank you for persevering and deciding to stay with us in light of the constructive reviews about various areas of the hotel. We are aware that many hotels worldwide do not charge for in-room coffee and understand this can be unnerving from a guest perspective.

Thank you for your kind words about the guest room bathrooms and the location of The Empire Hotel. Often, these highlights of the hotel go unnoticed, so we do appreciate your comments.

We look forward to welcoming you back to The Empire in the future. If there is any assistance we can provide, please email us at gm@empirehotelnyc.com.

Thanks again and all the best,
