Thank you to the Empire Hotel and Mr. Ze for a wonderful stay and remarkable service! Being a New Yorker I have stayed in many hotels and nothing compared! The location, the room and the rooftop were all amazing!! See you again very soon!

Booked the hotel for my family as it was near to Central Park and was therefore going to be quieter than my previous stay in New York in 2008 (Waldorf Astoria). What can I say? Yes the Waldorf Astoria might be better in its decorations inside the public areas (with lots of ornateness and grandeur) BUT the Empire wins hands down for decoration, staff and bedrooms. Service was excellent, Receptionists were excellent, Chris the Concierge was excellent (thank-you), Room was excellent (clean, fantastic facilities etc within it) and the breakfast in the restaurant was absolutely fantastic. Everyone was so friendly and polite and really wanted to help if we had a problem with finding places outside etc. The hotel was only a 10 ish minute walk to Times Square and a 25 minute walk to Grand Central Station so wonderfully positioned. The Starbucks around the corner provided our picnic breakfast for sitting in Central Park early one morning and it was like a dream come true. The restaurants / bars outside the hotel were extremely good - not bad priced if you want quality food and quick to seat everyone with a choice of outside or inside. Well done to the team of staff - fantastic stay xx

Room Tip: Trust the staff's judgement...

Hello Dawn T,

Thank you so much for your recent stay at The Empire Hotel and for sharing your perfect experience with the Trip Advisor community.

While we are quite different than the Waldorf Astoria, we certainly do appreciate you drawing comparisons and having such nice comments about the decor, service and cleanliness! Chris at our Concierge desk is instrumental in contributing to positive guest experiences. All of this combined with a superb location, why would you want to stay anywhere else?!

Please do think of us again the next time your travels bring you back across the Atlantic. If you have any questions leading up to your next trip, please email us at gm@empirehotelnyc.com.

All the best,

John S.

This hotel gained fame from Gossip Girl, but it's age is catching up. While I was there 2 elevators were down which was bad since the hotel was full. The lobby area is dark and while that can be charming, in this case it was not. Bathrooms are also awkward as the shower "door" does not cover the shower opening and one cannot shower without getting the whole bathroom wet. The bathroom was so small there was no place to put a makeup bag or shaving kit. However, staff was lovely and there is a happening bar/pool area on the roof.

The Empire Hotel is in the perfect location to see the best of New York! They will charge you $3.00 to make a cup of Keurig coffee in your room, but Starbuck's is just downstairs so most folks get dress and go and get their coffee to bring back to their rooms. I found this tacky on the part of the Empire to charge for coffee -- especially for business travelers.

Hello Leslie B,

Thank you for your recent stay at The Empire Hotel and for taking the time to share your experience on our Trip Advisor page.

It's always great when guests enjoy our location so much and share this with the Trip Advisor community. Location is a major consideration when searching for a hotel to stay at in Manhattan. Sorry that you found the coffee pricing to be tacky, we simply provide this an option for our guests, but you're absolutely right, Starbuck's is a convenient option around the corner from the hotel.

We do hope and trust that we have the opportunity to welcome you back to The Empire Hotel. If there is anything we can assist with leading up yo your next stay, please email us at gm@empirehotelnyc.com.

All the best,

John S.

We stayed at the Empire for a few days with our two boys (ages 12 & 14) and had a wonderful time. Location is excellent, right across from Lincoln Center. The room is a bit of a squeeze but we didn't mind because we got a great rate. Our favorite feature was the rooftop lounge, which was welcome after a day of sightseeing - a great place to relax, have a drink, get some sun and let the boys chill out and splash in the pool. Sure, the pool is small - but how many NYC hotels in this price range even have a pool? The staff was nice. We'd go back in a heartbeat.

We have just returned after spending 5 nights at this hotel and it was a fantastic experience from beginning to end.

We were checked in by Jose, who was kind enough to upgrade us to a king size room with free wifi as we were celebrating a special occasion.

The room was ready for us straight away (about 3pm) and was a good size with a great view of the Lincoln Centre fountains.

The following day we were celebrating our wedding anniversary and the hotel gave us a complimentary bottle of prosecco in our room. Its these little touches that make the stay even more special.

Just around the corner from the hotel you can get to columbus circle so its very easy to navigate yourself down broadway, to the subway, into central park etc It is just a fantastic location!

The only down sides to this hotel is the waiting for lifts (but you can get over that) and id say the most disappointing thing is the pool, I booked this hotel for the reason it had a pool but it is really just a tiny plunge pool for children to have a splash around in, the pool deck was also very busy whenever we tried to get up there.

Overall I think this is a fantastic base for exploring New york, the hotel staff are great and very helpful and the rooms are modern, clean and have very comfy beds, however if you want a hotel with a pool I would go somewhere else.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on Floor 6, great sized rooms with good views.
