Description: New York sets the tempo for the world, and now Times Square has a restaurant that can keep up. Everything in our 26,000-square-foot, two-story space is an homage to the Big Apple, from the repurposed subway tiles that decorate the floors to the energetic, open kitchens that bustle as much as the streets outside of our picture windows. Our culinary focus? American food, with flavors inspired by New York City cultures. And when you visit URBO at the corner of 42nd Street and Eighth Avenue, you'll experience our unique offerings in a variety of settings. URBO Kitchens is our, all-day restaurant. That's located on the first-floor along with URBO Grind, a coffee-shop that will satisfy your caffeine cravings with La Colombe and house-made pastries. Climb the spiral staircase to our second floor to find Bar URBO, a classy cocktail oasis and URBO Loft, a private events space that channels the look and feel of an urban rooftop garden. Whether you enjoy some local seasonal cuisine from the Kitchens or a classic martini from our Bar, you'll find an experience that is distinctly New York, and distinctly URBO.

“Great Alternative for Pre Theater Dinner”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

We had dinner before the theater at this great new eatery across from Port Authority. It has an eclectic menu with very attentive service. Sparkling and still water are provided and they will continue to refill your glass until you float away. The decor is a cool mix of reclaimed materials and sleek stainless. The peach appetizer was outstanding a great combination of fruit and ricotta cheese. The gazpacho was superb and my youngest daughter thought the shrimp chowder was amazing. The Wayne farm chicken and hanger steak were both excellent and perfectly prepared. The lamb dish looked small but was plenty! We got a tour of the extensive area upstairs by the general manager who is very enthusiastic and knowledgeable.

Our girls enjoy adult menu items and like a variety of food - if your children are selective it might be a bit harder to satisfy them - no traditional items on the menu that we saw - however they seemed very accommodating.

The prices are very reasonable for NYC. Try it soon it is likely to get a lot busier.

We look forward to going back.

“Unusual to find a restaurant of this caliber in Times Square”
Reviewed 25 August 2014 via mobile

Son and I went for a snack planning for a late dinner elsewhere. This place opened about a month ago. Great interior. Very stylish decor - lots of natural looking wood and glass. Kitchen is open - glassed in and spotless. How often do you see how your food is prepared in the city? Service friendly and very attentive. Choice of tap or complimentary sparkling water. Son opted for yellow fun tuna roll with scallions ($7). I had "local nectarines & fresh ricotta" ($11). This was nectarine slices and it was about half of a small nectarine with about two tablespoons of ricotta. While the nectarine was the epitome of juicy ripeness I thought it too pricey. We noted what diners around had ordered - the urbo burger with cloth-bound Vermont cheddar (!) and hand cut fries on a challah roll was a two-handed affair ($18) as was the slow cooked pulled pork sandwich with slaw and chips ($15). The free range chicken with chanterelles and corn ($20) also looked generous. My son has already decided we need to go back and eat something more than a few bites - he's thinking of the braised short ribs with mashed potatoes and green beams ($23) or "seared diver scallop" (hopefully more than one scallop) with Apple purée and zucchini flower ($24). Hope this place makes it as there is a dearth of quality dining in Times Square area. I should add that all the food is locally sourced. There is a different menu for the bar - looked like some interesting items. At 7 pm on a week day the restaurant was pretty empty.
