“Quaint small hotel in NYC”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 March 2012

We had never stayed in the downtown area of NYC before. One of the criteria we looked for was parking. The Best Western Plus Seaport on Peck Slip almost under the Brooklyn Bridge was one of those we managed to seek out. It is about one block away from the South Street Seaport as seen on many a movie and is a hot spot for tourists. Located in a very historic area of New york, this hotel is on the old side with plenty of character that grabs you from entering the lobby through the halls and into the room. Our room at five windows in a corner unit. it was like staying in a bed and breakfast. Very clean and functional, the hotel was a quick walk to many of the significant sites of downtown NYC, City Hall, Wall Street, Federal Hall, 911 Ground Zero, fun shopping and great restaurants and leisure spots. The Best Western was also one of the more affordable hotels in NYC. The staff were most helpful and welcoming. They ensured our comfort and cared about our stay with them. Do stay. Feel the hostory from the cobblestone streets to the beautiful architecture of the low rise buildings around the hotel. Explore the wonderful pubs and shops only steps away and of course see parts of downtown NYC that few people take the time to explore.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room facing the Brooklyn Bridge.

Dear GVWStonegate,

Thank you very much for your review. We always appreciate when guest let us know how we are doing. It is becoming harder and harder to find parking spots in the NYC. If you do find one they charge arm and leg. Seaport area makes it convenient if you are driving in to the City and affordable. Again, thank you for your review and we hope to see you again soon.

Thank you SUHEIDY ESTEVEZ the hotel agent who checked us in, first impressions go along way, she was professional, accommodating and helpful, always greeted us as we came and went. The hotel was absolutely wonderful, clean, roomy, the cleaning staff were very efficient in getting the rooms done early, we had a balcony overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to everyone travelling to NYC. Close to the Hop On Hop Off busses, short walk to the subways, lots to see and do right close to the hotel. Great restaurants near by. Continental breakfasts were fresh and plentiful. I can not thank the staff and especially Suheidy you are an ambassador for the hotel. We will definitely be back. You will not be disappointed if you choose to stay here.

Room Tip: A room with a balcony is breathtaking

Dear Franbyers,

Thank you very much for your review. Suheidy is among the many team members who provide great customer service day in and out. We are proud to have such a great team at the Best Western Plus Seaport.

View from our terrace rooms sometimes it is hard to believe but we have it! You can see the Brooklyn Bridge and East Side River. During the night city lights up and fresh air while you are in your own room is most refreshing and relaxing.

Again, we appreciate you review and hope to see you again soon.

I booked the hotel through hotwire as a hiding the name deal for a 3.5 stars hotel. When I finally saw the hotel name, I was quite disappointed. Best Western should be just 2 or 2.5 stars.

Anyway, the hotel is a typical best western. The staff at the front desk is very nice though. The free breakfast is the same as in other best western. The free WIFI is extremely slow and sometimes it doesn't work.

What I personally don't like is the location in lower east town. It might be convenient for people interested in the fish market. For people like me wants to use NYC public transportation, the hotel is about 15 min walk to the subway station. I would like to stay in Mid-town next time when I travel to NYC.

Dear Jon W,

Thank you very much for your review. We are glad that your overall stay was pleasant and we respect your opinion on the location of our hotel and our brand. Our location is often praised by our guests. It gets the highest ranking score next to our customer service. Most guest like the location because it is close to the restaurants, shopping, transportation, and of course the Brooklyn Bridge. Regarding internet we have upgraded to maximum speed offered by Time Warner in our area and this will help ever increasing demand for high speed internet access. Again, we appreciate your review.

I regularly stay here on business trips to NYC given its convenient location to City Hall. The rooms are small, but they serve the purpose. The hotel is clean and comfortable. When the Fulton Fish Market was located around the corner you ran the risk of getting a room facing the street and a sleepless night as the Market's business began. That is no longer a problem. A small breakfast has been included. In the past it was a pastries, fruit, and cereal. During my last visit the added eggs and sausage. It's enough to help you get the day started. Knowing what some hotels can be like, I would not hesitate recommending the Seaport Inn to others.

My cousin and I lived in New York too many years ago to mention. We wanted to go back and revisit and pay our respect at ground zero, visit Miss Liberty and look up our grandparents at Ellis Island. We made all of that happen thanks to our stay at the Best Western Seaport. It was so enjoyable, clean and breakfast was the best. The reception staff were helpful, professional and made us feel very welcomed. They helped us, directed us and put up with our bad jokes. Our room and balcony and view of the Bridge was marvelous. We walked to Battery Park, took the Ferry and even walked to Trinity Church near Ground Zero. Thanks BWS for making our long overdue return very very memorable and enjoyable. We'll be back. Inspite of the work going on in the neighborhood it never took anything away from our visit.

Room Tip: Not giving up my room number cause I don't want people to book it incase I want it when I return...

I stayed here with my sisters and mother. It was a nice retreat away from the hustle and bustle with quaint restaurants and bars near by. Douglas was extremely friendly and helpful....A +++ customer service.

Room Tip: Get a terrace room, view of Brooklyn Bridge is nice!
