This restaurant/bakery is very small. If you're a group bigger than 2, do not go without a reservation. Weekends are extremely busy too.
We loved the weekend brunch. Small but nice menu. Good Mimosas too. The menus change seasonally and offer specials.

We went back another night for a late dinner and dessert.
The truffle mac and cheese was amazing! Everyone wanted mine. The warm mushroom salad and burgers were also a hit.
But it was the array of desserts that we could not pass up. The warm chocolate cupcake, homemade soft-serve ice cream or their amazing green tea creme brulee. All their desserts are made in house. They also offer seasonal specials.
You can even get a soy, non-fat matcha latte here! Another big bonus, they offer delivery if your hotel is nearby!

We were skeptical at first but I thank my cousin for suggesting this small restaurant. It's not your typical Japanese cuisine restaurant. If you are opt for very good appetizers, soup and oh-so-good-uniquely presented desserts, this is the one. ALLLLL of their desserts are good. Their soba soup and mushroom salad are excellent too. We didn't reserve and we came at 10:30 pm on a Thursday night. We were seated easily. We will definitely go back.

Although most of this tiny storefront's attention seems to come from its desserts (one voted best cupcake in NYC), it has a lovely array of light, Japanese-inspired brunch, lunch, and dinner items (like sake-braised pork belly, and plenty of options for the veg-minded) that are a wonderful contrast to the more conventional, tourist-oriented fare that's typical of Hell's Kitchen, Times Square, and the Theater District. The restaurant is tiny, and hard to see from the street (no sign, so make sure you have the street address), Even if you find it packed with no free tables, though, stop long enough to get a to-go chocolate souffle or green tea cupcake to eat while you ponder your other options. You won't regret it.

Celebrated my sister's birthday here last Friday. I also had a Google Deals 3 course dessert for two menu to redeem (Google Deal).

We started with dinner--pancetta mac & cheese, rice curry and a summer dinner prix fixe (warm mushroom salad and a bento box sampler of nearly all the mains on the menu).

We moved onto the 3 course dessert. Included with our Google Deal was sparking sake. Our first course was a very good signature sweet tofu with black sugar syrup. Second dessert course was a plate of miniature green tea creme brulee, yuzu citrus tofu cheesecake and chocolate cake. Third course was green tea fudge and chocolate chunk cookie. Part of our dessert menu were two take home cupcakes (green tea & chocolate).

Some reason, we were gifted a green tea creme brulee with ginger pear sorbet on the house when we were eating our dessert.

Place was very tiny, reservations recommended as the later it got, the more popular it became.

Gratuity of 20% was automatically included to our bill (party of 3) probably because they didn't think we weren't going to tip on the full value of the 3 course dessert menu. I didn't appreciate this sneaky tactic.

We stumbled upon Kyotofu one night on our NYC vacation while looking for a late night desert and glad we did. I"m still talking about it. The grill was closed and the staff was in the middle of closing up but seated us up front anyway. I'm lactose intollerant so the Thai Basil/Strawberry softserve was like heaven. We tried the sweet tofu, chessecake and cupcakes also. All the tasty treats were delicous. I make it a habit of not eating at the same lace twice while on vacation, but when I go back to NYC, Kyotofu will be on the list to visit.
