“Great place for our family reunion”
Reviewed 3 February 2010

Our 4 night stay at the Best Western Hospitality House exceeded our expectations of affordable accomodation in New York over the new year period. The staff were extremely helpful at all times although we were a little disappointed to arrive to find that our 2 bedroom apartment not available until the following day. Management had 2 separate rooms provided for one night and relocated all our luggage the next day when our apartment was available. We had booked the accomodation several months ahead so did expect to have what we booked on arrival. However, that aside, the rest of our stay was fine. The complimentary breakfast and snacks provided in our apartment were most welcome. The apartment was very spacious especially when I needed to cook for 9 people on NYE! The close proximity of the subway, a deli and the hum of Times Square was a real bonus. We have passed on our recommendation for the BW Hospitality House to friends who may make the trek to NY from Australia.

We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us. We strive to create happy experiences for all of our guests.
We apologize and wish we didn't have to split your reservation into two one bedroom suites instead of one two bedroom suite. We had other guests that did not depart as expected that morning. We are very appreciative of your kind words here and we look forward to seeing you again soon!

Just got back from a 4 day trip to NYC with 3 teenagers, 2 of them mine. Booked a 2 bedroom suite and was thrilled with the size of the apartment, furnished with everything we needed, including a dock for their i-pods. Wi-Fi was free and no complaints from them about difficulty accessing the internet.. I chose to use the computers in the lounge downstairs with the free printer available. Breakfast was included and the waffles were a definite hit. The staff who were working in the breakfast room were friendly and accomodating, and very efficient at keeping all the supplies stocked up. Location was ideal for walking to many of the tourist sites and the HOHO stopped a block away at the Waldorf Astoria. Lots of good dining spots right outside the door. No negatives here. Only complaint was having to leave. Thanks to the front-desk staff for their suggestions and friendly greetings.

We went to NYC this year for our annual girls weekend Jan 15-18 and stayed at the Best Western Hospitality House. We were very impressed with the apartment style accomodations, welcome snacks and free continental breakfast. The hotel is easy walking distance to a number of sites and the staff were very helpful with dining recommendations. We did have some minor problems though - we had a leaky sink in the only bathroom. Then we had nothing but scalding hot shower water which soon trickled away to no water at all. The front desk reported the water pressure drops when they do laundry and asked us to wait 20 minutes before trying to shower again. Luckily, we were not on any type of time schedule and could afford the wait time. (I chose to wash my hair in the kitchen sink.) On Sunday, we again experienced some water problems. The front desk reported that the pipes would be worked on in the upcoming weeks to remedy the problem. Other issues were our television cable was missing about 1/2 of the channels and the sleeper sofa had a very lumpy, uncomfortable mattress. Other than these minor annoyances, we had a wonderful time in the Big Apple and would stay at the Best Western Hospitality House again. It was still an amazing value and great location for tourist in NYC.

Thank you for your feedback on your most recent stay.

We are happy to hear that you would stay with us again. We were having issues with our hot water and so last week we upgraded and repaired our entire hot water system and have had no issues since.

When we purchased the sofa beds in October, we upgraded the mattress to the extra thick hospitality type of pull out bed. Its much thicker than a standard sofa bed. We wanted the very best type of sofa bed available on the market. Because of the upgraded mattress we even had trouble fitting them into the rooms.

We would love to see you back again soon and are very glsd that overall it was a positve experience for a "girls weekend" .

The Best Western Hospitality house is a fantastic apartment style hotel right in the thick of the New York action. Youd be hard pressed to find a better location with just minutes to the closest subway - an easy walk into Time Square and a short trip to many retaurants and bars.
We stayed here for 10 days arriving Christmas Day 2009 and leaving after New Years. We were travelling with 2 other couples, one of which stayed in the Penthouse (see review below!). We had the 2 bedroom apartment - which was spacious, clean and perfect for our needs.
The staff were wonderful and helpful - Sam on the front desk especially looked after us, helping with useful directions to Meadowlands Stadium for our football, local bar recommendations and even cinemas! We noticed on a few occaisions management helping out by cleaning the kitchen while the staff were overrun. Great to see!
My one criticism of the hotel would be the water pressure. As other reviews have said, we struggled to get any hot water at times, especially during "peak" shower times. However, that was easily rectified by delaying showers.
Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel to those looking for a unique NY experience, in the heart of the city without the pricetag normally attached!

Thank you for your review. We are very happy that your stay was a positive experience and that you enjoyed your time with us.

Our heating system is steam and can be contraoled by a valve on each radiator. I wish we had known pehaps our engineer could have helped better adjust the heat in your room.

Once again we are glad you enjoyed your visit and we hope to see you again.

Stayed here for one night and wanted late checkout so the only one available was the ground floor handicapped room. It was great. Very spacious so the wheelchair can get around. Breakfast buffet was superb! Complimentary snacks and bottled water in the room upon arrival. Even the shampoo, lotion, and things were all of top quality.

Location was great, might I add, with all the other reviewers. Free wireless internet is also found in the room.

We stayed at the Hospitality House for three nights in mid January 2009. The rooms are large with ours having a bedroom, bath, living room, and fully equipped kitchen which we did not use. Good location in Manhattan. The heating system needs to be upgraded- was hard to regulate old fashioned radiators. The usual BW complimentary breakfast. A friendly and helpful staff.

BUT each night that we stayed about midnight a garbage disposal truck would starting picking up dumpsters for fifteen or twenty minutes. The noise of the running truck, the operation of the lift mechanism and the banging of the dumpsters was incredibly loud, and it was impossible to sleep.

We are glad that you found the hotel itself to be comfortable for your visit.

Our hotel is located on a street not an avenue which presents advantages of less traffic noise than hotels on avenues. Our hotel is located in a quieter section of the city than theTimes Square area in terms of noise. New York City law does require that garbage removal occur at night and this holds true all over Manhattan. What I was really surprised about is that you could hear the elevator in your room as the bedrooms are very far away from the elevator in the hallways. Our walls are also very thick. The apartments have the bedroom (s) at the furthest point from the entrance to the apartment. and hall. The bedrooms also have their own dorrs within the apartment that close.

We really wish we had more control over the street noise you describe but being in the city that never sleeps presents its own set of challanges.

If you should return our one bedroom apartments face inside and are not on the street side of the hotel. Only our two bedroom apartments face the street. We could have also moved you to a higher floor to reduce the amount of noise you coluld hear. We also have a white noise function built into our ipod docking stations. We also often provide ear plugs upon request for guests who are not acustomed to the noises of the city.

We hope that you might return and maybe stay on a higher floor or be on an inside court room next time.

Thank you for your patronage.

My husband and I stayed with Hosp House with 4 friends. We had the Penthouse and they had a 2 bedroom apartment. We chose this hotel due to Trip Advisor comments and Roberts response. We were not dissapointed. the location is perfect, nestled between the Waldorf Astoria and the Marriott. 7 Blocks from Times Sq and 2 blocks from the Subway meant that we were central to EVERYTHING without having to pay 5 Star hotel prices! There is a supermarket around the corner (which delivers), an italian restaurant next door and a small yummy pizza place. Free internet access (and printer) is also available in rooms and in the breakfast area, which made it convenient to stay in touch back home without having to go to internet cafe's. The free breakfast was also fabulous!

The rooms fulfiled our NYC experience as we felt as though we were in a real NYC apartment (insert Friends theme song here). They were equipped with everything. In fact due to the dates of our travel, my friends and I celebrated Christmas with a full Christmas lunch cooked in the kitchen. It felt as though we were at home.

The staff were more than helpful with our constant queries and Robert was extremely patient with my constant emails regarding our booking. Thanks Robert!

I have read that other may have found the heating a little "hot". If you are a person who feels in the cold, then the temp is perfect. I felt warm and cozy whenever I returned home, um, er, ...to the room.

The slight down side was the shower temperature. NYC experienced artic weather while we were there and it sometimes took a while for the hot water to reach the 10TH floor shower after a day of walking in freezing weather.

Other than this, there will definately be more Australians staying at Hosp. House and we definately be returning!

Our staff and management were all very happy to see your review!! Thank you so much for your kindness in taking the time to share your positive experience.

We are aware of a recent intermittent problem with the hot water pressure in the penthouse at peak times. We have had engineers and plumbers here this week and last to propose a fix. We have a solution in hand and will be moving forward to correct it in short order. It is important to note that it is not a constant problem but happens only when everyone is taking a shower at the same time.

Once again, thank you for your patronage and I (we) hope you are able to travel back to NYC again soon!! Happy New Year to you and your family!
