On our way back from a Trans-Atlantic cruise, my husband and I decided to spend a few days in NYC. A few years back we stayed at this delightful Inn (in the Spa Suite) and we had such a wonderful time there that we decided to return, but try a different suite. This time we chose the Opera Suite. After a long flight from Copenhagen, it was such a treat to relax in our wonderful suite with a glass of the wine left for us by Ruth and Ellen. Since we were a bit jet-lagged we didn't want to go out for dinner, and we found that the refrigerator was stocked with fruit, cheese and a generous slice of quiche that my husband and I shared.
The Inn has the atmosphere of a quiet bed-and-breakfast but its location can't be beat. We enjoy walking in the City and Ruth gave us some suggestions for things to see from a native New Yorker's point of view. We had a fun day browsing through some neighborhood shops and then toured a bit of Central Park. The next day was Memorial Day and we decided we wanted to see the Intrepid Museum. We again decided to walk and as it turned out, thousands of others had the same idea we did. We found that the Fleet Week festivities were going on, so we instead toured three active duty ships. After a full day, we returned to our cozy retreat and relaxed until dinner. It is just a few blocks from the Inn to Broadway, so we found a nice quiet restaurant there for dinner.
I don't know if I felt more pampered on our cruise or at the Inn. Ruth and Ellen were available to answer questions, but they just melted out of sight at other times. The suite was sparkling clean and the refreshments provided were fresh and plentiful. There was this giant muffin that has to be tasted to be believed, and a beautiful fruit bowl with lucious cherries and strawberries.
The Inn is one of my all-time favorite places to stay. I can't wait to go back to NYC to try the other suites.
