This is my 7th trip to New York, this isnt my favourite hotel but it isnt the worst ive stayed in either. I dont ususally pick hotels based on the amenities of the hotel, esp in New York as i just use it as a place to sleep and then go out and enjoy the city! This hotel is steps form 5th Avenue and the Empire State Building and 2 mins from Macys. I would say 7 mins from Times Square and there is a metro station at the end of the street, thats all i needed.

There is no wifi or bell man at the hotel, there is a front desk which is open 24/7 and the door is locked after 10/11pm so its very secure, not that we felt at all vulnerable in the area. The room we had was on the front of the hotel, it was over the road so there was a little bit of noise, however that was more than compensated for by the view of the Empire State Building we had from our window!! The windows were large and I could lie in bed and see the building - fab! The room we had was a twin, it was large enough for 2 girls, with all of our luggage (4 suitcases in the end!!). The decor was not to my taste (quite chintzy) but it was clean and seemed to have been newly decorated so I cant complain!

We got this hotel for a great deal as part of a package with 5 nights in Vegas and 3 nights in New York and it was a really good price. If i could secure the Wolcott at a budget price I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Street facing rooms have a view of the Empire State Building!

I enjoyed my stay here, the location is brilliant.Only a few minutes walk to Times square,Broadway and loads of shops such as Macy's.
We had a twin room on the 11th floor, the view wasn't that great but the room was fine.Quite small but it was cleaned everyday.TV has a selection of channels such as VH1,MTV,E! and news channels etc.
One things about the rooms is they are very hot.Even though it was freezing outside as soon as we came in we put the air con on,and had to leave it on at night.Room would have been perfect if it had tea/coffee making facilities and a fridge. One day our safe wouldn't work,we phoned the desk and they sent someone to fix it straight away. However you can get a coffee from dunkin donuts just over the road.
I would also say if you book show tickets from the concierge desk be careful because one of them sold us tickets to wicked when it wasnt even on that night!
The muffins and coffee are nice in the morning as if you have busy days planned it keeps you going for a while.
I would recommend staying here due to its great location and I would go back here.

We stayed here for 10 days over Christmas and New Year. We booked a few months ahead from the UK so got a good deal. We had a twin room on the 11th floor. It was roomy and clean and had a good little dressing area. The hotel was on a well lit street, with a holiday inn on the same road. There are a few things that the hotel doesn't do, as mentioned by others, but we didn't find it an issue. There is no tea/coffee in the room, but you can take drinks back to your room from the breakfast table, plus there is a starbucks on nearly every local corner and there's a dunkin donuts at the end of the road if you want to bring drinks back. Breakfast is served in the lovely foyer - tea and coffee plus choices of muffins. Always refreshed throughout the breakfast session. Lots of people sit on the comfy big chairs but we often took them back to the room. Our room did have a noisy radiator and the hot water banged sometimes when using the shower but it didn't bother us as the noises only lasted a few seconds.

We took two rooms. Both small and cramped. Neither felt clean. Both had noisy air com; like having an internal combustion engine in the room. Concierge desk knew NY less well than we did. No tea/coffee facilities in the rooms. Complementary coffee and muffins in the foyer in the morning, but insufficient seating for Hotel residents. One morning insufficient coffee, next morning insufficient muffins. Hotel packed with school groups, for whom I think it is probably fine. If you are not running a school trip stay somewhere else; the Wolcott took the shine off our trip.

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights from Dec 15th 2013 - it really is a hidden gem of a place considering it's proximity to a number of sights & major places in NYC (Empire State/Macy's/Madison Square Garden & other shops/restaurants etc).
Our room no. 1219 looked out onto the Empire State Building which was a bonus for us as we had not asked for anything specific (such as view) once we had booked. The room was a really good size with nice bathroom facilities, very clean & more than adequate for both of us, plus cases & goodies/shopping bags bought during the stay!
Yes it is older than most but it's got character & it's quirky - the lobby alone is quite something to see. The only things if any, that we could use as a gripe was that it was once used by Buddy Holly & the Everley Bros as a recording studio - but over the years the studios have been removed and the downstairs appears to be used for storage etc - shame as it would have been interesting to see it all in situ. More importantly, the lifts were a bit of pain as they were a bit slow (however there was maintenance being done so they may have improved), Hot water was a bit slow but we put it down to the fact it is an old building and we were on 12th floor!
However, the heating was good & worked well - good job as it was well needed, during our stay it was freezing outside with snow showers etc, the muffins & coffee were a good start to the day prior to our arctic expedition to the streets of NY!
I must compliment the guy who checked us in on the evening of the 15th Dec as he was very helpful and polite (as were all staff on the front desk - but he was a great help after our long flight etc!

Room Tip: 1219 offers a good view of the Empire State Building!

Location Location Location. The hotel is dated but lets face it, it was one of the first hotels in Manhattan so has an amazing lobby with period features.
The breakfast muffin was delicious and a great bonus, best muffins we've ever had!
The room could have done with renovating but was acceptable and most importantly clean.
Staff helpful and again look at the price, when your in New York how long you going to stay in your room? Grab a bargain.

Room Tip: We had a suite as travelling with a child (4) and was plenty big enough and he had a large (double s...

In the heart of Korean Town and near the Empire State building. The hotel is very convenient since you can walk anywhere.

The hotel staff are very friendly. There were complementary muffins and coffee/tea in the morning! Which was unexpected. Also, the muffins were delicious. Like crumble blueberry and crumble cranberry. There is wifi offered in the hotel but you have to pay. Originally I thought it was free. However, there are so many McDonald's and Starbucks around, you can get wifi there. There's a ticket and shuttle bus booth which was very handy.

The room is very clean. We got the room with an extra bedroom for 3 people. Which was very spacious. The washroom was clean. The washroom comes with complementary soap and shampoo but it's not much.

I lived on the 10th floor, so we couldn't really hear anything downstairs. Occasionally you can hear sirens but that's expected since it's so loud. I would like to give it 4.5 but there's not half rating available. The only reason I'm not giving this hotel 5 stars is because the radiator was so loud and it goes on intervals too.

Besides the radiator, I would totally still stay in this hotel. It is very convenient and within a few blocks of Times Square. There are two metro stations that are close enough. About a 5-8 min walk.
