“Good location, average hotel”
Reviewed 9 February 2014 via mobile

The hotel is in an excellent location for sightseeing in NYC and close by to the subway. However, the hotel itself is pretty average. Our room was absolutely tiny with no bathroom (it was in the hall). Unlucky for us I think it was the only room in the hotel without a bathroom. Our window wasn't properly sealed and we could feel the frigid air coming in from outside, which isn't great in January. It is a pretty old hotel so the heating was sufficient but did make some interesting and very loud noises throughout the night. We had a street side room which also meant that we heard a lot of noise. But, on the other hand, it was very clean, the staff were friendly and helpful for the most part and the price we paid was excellent for the location.

Booked this hotel through STA travel company as part of our sightseeing trip. When you arrive at the hotel the lobby was nice and looked like on the website. Once your out of the lobby the hotel had narrow stone staircases and doors were too close to each other, making it difficult to get through with even small suitcases.

We checked in and went to our room. When we got in it and saw the view was of a gutter and other hotel rooms, we felt like we'd been put there because we booked through a cheaper travel agent. The carpet and decorations were old. The bathroom was ok, but the hairdryer didn't work. The main issue we had was with the noise of the air conditioning unit. If you didn't have it on, it was too hot and very uncomfortable, if you did you were kept awake from the noise of the thing. I didn't sleep well during the 3 nights there. We were limited on time for sight seeing, so when we saw the queue at reception, decided not to wait to complain about the air con.

Would only recommend for price and location, as empire state building, macys, times square, and metro stations within walking distance.

Really the only thing this hotel can stand on is it is cheap. There are no amenities, I mean none. The shower takes fifteen minutes to get hot water and then it takes fifteen minutes to figure out how to mix it enough with cold water to stand in it. My toilet was clogged on arrival. They did come up quickly to clear it but...
I know and fully expect rooms in New York to be small. This one has a sitting area, a separate bed and then the bathroom so it is ok on size but the overall quality just doesn't get it. I could hear people in other rooms constantly.
If you have to save to get to New York it is an option but be warned if you expect just a little service.

Had a wonderful stay at this perfectly located hotel.
This hotel has not only a historical past, beautiful common areas as well as spacious rooms and bathrooms with high ceilings and windows that you could open, (Hate the claustrophobic feeling of humming insufficient airconditioning only....) it has a soul!
In addition to this the staff from receptionists to the unbelievably silent working, almost not noticable, maidservice is incredibly serviceminded, helpful and friendly.
Was shown the spectacular ballroom I had read articles about and this experience only added to my belief in this hotels present and future potential.
Did not use the gym, did yoga a couple of blocks away, but enjoyed like most other guests the nice arrangement with free coffee and a variety of muffins in the lobby every morning.
To sum it all up...
I could have stayed for a much longer time and felt like at home;)

All excellent. The personal are full OK and the location is great. In NYC the relation benefit / cost are perfect. When I am return to this nice city I am coming back to this Wolcott Hotel.
Thank you very much for all

My sister and I stayed at Wolcott Hotel for 4 days in January. We had a good stay with no complaints. The staff were friendly and helpful, beds were comfortable, the hotel felt safe, and the location was absolutely prime. It's also a bonus that they serve black coffee and muffins (nothing more, nothing less,) simply because not all budget NY hotels do. My only suggestion would be to at least put out creamer and sugar.. it's a small expense that would really be appreciated. It's not a five star hotel, but worth the cost. We would stay there again.

Room Tip: You might want to request a room with a view towards the Empire State Building. The other side of th...

We have been coming to this little gem for years. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!! Between Broadway and Fifth - can it get any better???!!! Nearest subway is 2 blocks away (32nd & Bdwy), Penn Station/Madison Square Garden (which is fun to experience) is a 5 minute walk. Macy's - 3 blocks. Fun to just walk Fifth Ave - lots to see. 32nd Street has great Korean restaurants.
And the staff, oh the staff - LOVE these people! This year we arrived very late Christmas night and were greeted with a warm "hello, good to see you". Can't wait to go back very soon!!!!!!!!!
