This is a hotel I definitly will stay at again! Nice, clean, perfect location on a rather quiet street but still close to everything. Stayed with my friends in a triple room that was rather spacious. Nice wine bar across the street and at least two breakfast places just minutes away.

As a group of college students visiting New York for our first time, we were thrilled by our stay at the Wolcott Hotel. From the moment we walked in, the staff treated us with kindness and care and went out of their way to ensure that we had a positive visit in NY.

As we explored and toured the city for the majority of our time, the Wolcott served as a fantastic base and place to stay. No complaints or regrets from our group - we highly recommend it to all, especially those who are looking for a fair price in the heart of the city!

I wanted to check rates for a 5 night stay with Booking.com last April and by mistake I clicked the send buttom. I immediately realized that by doing that I had just reserved one night and after two minutes (everything is recorded, so I'm not kidding) I canceled the reservation. I received a confirmation from Booking saying the cancellation had been accepted. Unfortunately the hotel decided to apply the no refund cancellation policy charging my credit card for € 170 and something. Booking was so kind to contact the hotel and explain the whole situation. No way. I did the same. No way. So be careful when you click the hotel button ...

Cab in and walk back when the weather is good. Right off 5th Ave- Great location for this trip.
Hotel is a hidden gem. We had a triple room- 3 twins, very clean, beds comfy. Free coffee and muffins in the AM. Ayza Wine and Chocolate Bar across the street delicious and reasonable, and Bread & Butter a store steps away across 5th has everything you could want or need to eat for every diet and palate imaginable for those on any budget. Staff friendly. Tiny bathroom but plenty of room for toiletries on the tile window sill. Would I stay here when in Manhattan again? Absolutely

Room Tip: No pool---

So you already know, a Hampton Inn-sized room you can get in the heartland for less than $100 a night will cost you a down payment on a car for 2-3 night stay in many Manhattan hotels. Given the reviews, we took a chance on the Wolcott, and we were quite pleased. A short walk from Penn Station, the Wolcott was a great place to park our bags, go about and explore the city, and come back and get a good night's sleep. Our room was small with few amenities, but it was clean. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom fixtures all worked, the towels were soft, and there was a large-screen TV as well as a safe for valuables. Few outlets to plug in a laptop or phone charger. The complimentary breakfast coffee and blueberry muffin were quite good. The view from our room looked down on a tight and dingy shaftway. Possibly depressing to some guests, but a nice touch for fans of film noir or murder-mystery and spy novels.

If you plan to spend a lot of time in your room, you may want to consider booking a room in a fancier hotel at twice or three times the cost. For anyone with a busy schedule in the city who needs a room for 1-2 nights to come back to after dinner, at under $200/night (plus tax) we feel we lucked out and recommend the Wolcott

Room Tip: Back of the hotel, 11th floor was very quiet on a Saturday.

This hotel is updated enough to have most modern amenities (except a coffeemaker in the room, but they serve coffee/tea/muffins in the lobby each morning) and still have the character of an older establishment: in the shadow of the Empire State Building, grand lobby, suite-like rooms. It is better suited for the leisure traveler, as WiFi is not free.
