this hotel is greatly located, at walking distance to the Empire State and to Times Square, close to subway stations (on different lines). The hotel does offer some muffins and coffee in the morning for you to start your day on a fresh way. They also have a simple but efficient concierge desk.

We would highly recommend this hotel, I have stayed in various hotels in NY, ranging from top class to budget, and this little hotel is a gem of a find and very well located, my daughter and I, had booked a twin room and was delighted with the upgrade to a family room, even without the extra area where the 3rd bed was the size of the room would have been more than adequate, our room was always clean, the bed was comfy, lets face it when your in NY you need a good restful sleep, the coffee and muffins were an added bonus and always fresh, the reception staff "All of them" were more than helpful, even when we were checking out, our transfer had arrived early and after a lot of confusion with the driver, the staff insisted he take us to the airport, a massive thank you for that! I would stay here again without a shadow of doubt, so much so I intend bringing my husband on the next visit.

Room Tip: back of the hotel is quieter, but less natural light

I highly recommend the Hotel Wolcott. The hotel is in a great location near the Empire State Building and subways. The room was a good size and very clean. Enjoyed the coffee and muffin each morning. Great value!

The hotel is in a good location. The room sizes vary considerably from small to large. We arrived late at night to a full hotel so ended up in one of the small rooms. We were offered a larger room after the first night however after unpacking we decided to stay in the small room.
The rooms have a through-wall airconditioner which worked well (as you’d expect for a small room) but was also very quiet. The bed was comfortable and we had a good sleep for the three nights we stayed. You have to pay for the Wifi and it isn’t secure, so pop down to the local café and use their unsecured Wifi.

There are no coffee/tea facilities in the room or hotel, although there is free coffee/tea/muffins in the lobby for breakfast. We filled a thermos with hot water for later in the day.

Front desk service quality depended on who you spoke to. One gentleman was very helpful and couldn't do enough to help - the others were more reserved and less helpful.

Overall, considering the price and location, this hotel is fair value and we’d be happy to stay again - but we’ll arrive early next time.

Good value hotel, well positioned. Staff ok and the junior suite a good size. Main complaint is the lack of natural light, that is something beyond the control of the hotel, but our room was very dark.

I was recommended to go to this hotel by a friend who told me not to expect much but very good position and adequate . She was right, the hotel is right in midtown, so well positioned and having the Empire State Building so close was an extra plus because you always knew in which direction
to go back to at the end of the day!, The staff were very friendly and the room was old fashioned but clean and very very comfortable beds. We were three in a room and each had our own beds which was a big plus as most other hotels just had two double beds. Air conditioning worked well, big self service launderette downstairs which was really convenient and a great convenience store across the road called Bed and Breakfast which sold everything from salad bar, cooked food, sushi drinks, cup cakes, open 24 hours and had free wifi. Dunkin Donuts opposite the hotel also has free wifi, the hotel has no free wifi, not even in the lobby. That was the only downer, especially for kids but they managed to stand outside DD in the evening and connect!!

Went for an extended weekend over 4 nights with my two daughters. Location and price was the main cause for choosing Walcott, and we will certainly recommend it to others. A quiet place in the middle of Manhattan, and possible to walk in every direction to get to the most preferred sites.
The “breakfast” in the lobby was genius (muffin and a cup of coffee/tea), and it gave us enough energy to get going in to the streets. NYC Taxi was passing in front of the hotel all the time and made it easy to move to other districts promptly. And on the steps to the hotel we got a glance of Empire State!
Next time in NY we will make use of Walcott again!
