The Wolcott Hotel offers a fair rate for the location and amenities provided. Rooms are clean, air conditioned and relatively spacious. A highlight, which we really appreciated, were the complimentary (and remarkably fresh) muffins and coffee on offer in the lobby at breakfast time. Whereas it wouldn't be a hotel for a long romantic lie in, it would definitely serve as a good base for the wallet conscious who are on the go visiting Manhattan.

Great location in the heart of Manhattan. Staff very helpful.
Annoying lifts as small and hotel was busy. Have stayed here several times great value for money and a view do Empire State if you are lucky!

The Wolcott is in a perfect location to see everything you would want to see in midtown Manhattan. The staff was great. For the price, it exceeded our expectations. I am definitely going to look here the next time I visit.

Stayed for four nights and were overall satisfied. The location of the hotel is perfect if you want to be in the middle of everything. Empire State Building, Flatiron Building, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Highline Park and the Village are all within walking distance. The downside of that is that you have other tourists walking around you the WHOLE time and after a while you might just get a little tired of the buzz around you. The room provided as much recreation from that as possible with a view out to the street. But even in your room you're still in New York City afterall, so you get a lot of street noise at ALL times. Worst for us was the trash pickup every night around 3am though because it made it hard to sleep through the night, even with the loud A/C on. The room itself was old but clean, the same goes for the bathroom. From pictures on the internet I concluded that they also have renovated rooms, we weren't in one, but it was fine after we got used to the green ornamented wallpaper... We didn't hear a thing from out in the hallway or neighboring rooms, which was nice. Breakfast is free muffins and coffee, but if you want to get something decent there's lots of places just around the corner. We always went to Bread&Butter on 5th Ave, a 1 min walk from the hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful. Overall this was a good place to stay, personally I would choose something further uptown for our next visit, just to have the opportunity to get away from things a little. PS: There is no free wifi, which I found a little inconvenient, also considering the money you still pay for a room here.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the renovated rooms!

Spent 10 nights at this great hotel. Our room was at the back so no noise, loads of hot water in a very nice and clean bathroom.Comfy beds, the staff were very helpful, our room was kept clean every day. Great location easy walk to subway and most other places.
So we are looking at going back to New York and to stay at the Wolcott Hotel in May 2015

A pleasing and affordable hotel! Close to Empire State Building, and within walking distance of many midtown sights. This is a wonderful choice for those who want reasonable pricing and a fabulous location.

The staff is friendly, and they will hold your bags before you're able to check in and all day after you've checked out. The hotel is a little outdated, and rooms are basic but comfortable and clean. We had asked for a quiet room and we were happy to receive one. The view was of another building, but that was not a concern for us (sleeping in a quiet room was the priority).

I would come back here for future trips into NYC, and would recommend this hotel to friends and family. :-D

Room Tip: Usually, the higher the floor, the quieter it is. We were on the 6th floor, and went well. If you wa...

What a perfect location - if you don't need the crowds of Times Square. Lovely old hotel, free coffee and muffins each morning, wake up calls when asked, suitcase storage...two blocks from Penn Station. 3 blocks from Macy's. Very happy with the Wolcott. Would absolutely stay again.
