Unfortunately on check in our room for 3 people had only 2 beds, neither of which are standard doubles. Warn any future large parties booking in here this is the situation. NOT GOOD, reception staff are obviously used to people complaining because they expresses no surprise at the situation. Won't let this ruin our stay though.

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Excelsior Hotel, New York. We found the hotel very clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Only one criticism and that is there was no tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms. There was a tray with bottled water but that was chargeable.
Half and hour walk into Times Square. 5 minute walk from Central Park.

During our stay 5 nights in this property, it was disclosed that the location is great as near American Museum of Natural History, Central Park and Subway Station.

We can have free ice from Ice Machines, Reasonable Price on Soda or Snack from Vending Machines

For tourist, we can take hop on hop off bus, from many operators, in front of museum.

Room is big enough for family ( party of 2 adults and 2 kids for superior type). We have one bedroom, one living room with small kitchen (fridge, microwave, oven, pot, pan, etc), 3 TVs.

Our family has a great time in NYC and one of good reasons is staying in this hotel.

We will revisit for sure.

Room Tip: Free WiFi only Lobby. Snack and Soda are reasonable price from vending machine.

I chose this hotel b/c the configuration of their small suites was perfect for 3 sisters on a reunion trip to NYC. Our first room was smaller as we had planned to upgrade when the 3rd sister arrived. This room was not up to our standards, but when the deficiencies were pointed out to the concierge, we were credited for that night and immediately upgraded to our second room, the small suite. This has all the charm of an older NYC hotel that has been renovated. The location is amazing - right across from The Natural History Museum on 81st Street, with Central Park half a block away. And fabulous restaurants are steps away. Also the wonderful Mexican restaurant Calle Ocho is just downstairs off the lobby. We had a great and reasonably priced happy hour with 8 women there one night.

Room Tip: Ask to look at it first. Make sure all the electrical outlets and lamps work (we had this problem w...

I can not say it was bad. An average hotel, which it had small rooms and quite clean except the windows ( inside ) which were really dirty with so much dust that the corners from white they became black. The toilet seat needed to be changed as it had scratches.

The hotel is quiet you can't hear any traffic and close to the central park, museum of natural history and some great eats. The room had an extra area to watch tv and hang out which was nice when you have kids that sleep in. The room was a bit worn and the bathroom small, but overall it was a good stay. Also, they had a weight room to work out.
