“A Surprising Gem”
Reviewed 20 March 2014

I was instructed to book a room at The Kimberly by my upper management, and I was reluctant given the photos posted on their website. It looks a bit outdated to say the least, but this place still has charm. The rates are extraordinary considering the size room you get. The staff is friendly enough, and everything from the common areas to the room was clean as a whistle. This hotel caters to the business guest; they have an in-room shoe shine/buffer which I've never seen in any other hotel. What a novel idea.

And make sure you check out Upstairs, the rooftop lounge. It offers great views of the Chrysler Building and surrounding area.

Would I stay here again? Absolutely. Would I recommend it? Certainly, for anyone visiting on business.

Great Location - walked everywhere. Huge rooms by NYC standards. Only downside was the view - (A brick wall).
Staff very helpful. Roof bar was great - unfortunately we didn't make the most of it on our short trip.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights, and it was lovely. The staff was gracious; the room was spacious; (that rhymes!); and the location, well great. After an evening out we returned to the hotel and went to the rooftop bar for a nightcap only to find it pulsing with young people and life. We (55-plus) were welcomed prettily by the staff and shown to a place, where we enjoyed our cocktails. We were by far and away the oldest in the place, but never did we feel as if we didn't belong there.

The location is perfect . Check in went well, we were early and checked our luggage, headed to Upstairs bar. Great drinks, incredible views. Would recommend. Our room was clean and had a wonderful bed. Shower was nice although the water was only lukewarm on Sunday morning. The view we had was of construction but seriously we just closed the blinds. We were not there to spend time in the room, we wanted to go out.

Had brunch at the Upstairs on Sunday, was nice. Pancakes a little overdone but the rest was tasty.

All in all I would consider going back to the Kimberley. Its a great value for the price.

The hotel is extremely well located just a couple of blocks away from Rockefeller Centre. The room we got was quite big and comfortable so it was nice since we were in a family vacation. The staff was pretty helpful and the concierge service was really good about restaurant recommendations and tours. One night we went to the bar upstairs, which it has a really beautiful view of the Chrysler Building, also they served good cocktails.
I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone going to NYC.

This is a good hotel for anyone who likes a large room at a reasonable price. The views are good, most rooms have a balcony, and the beds are very comfortable. Furnishings are sometimes a bit shabby, but I'll trade that for extra space anytime.

Room Tip: Ask for corner room on high floor

This place is great. Staff is friendly, rooms are spacious (or mine was, at least) there is a really nice rooftop bar and restaurant, and it's neat many good restaurants and stores, especially for a hotel in Midtown. The concierge was especially helpful. Also, for a hotel in New York the price was quite good.

The little things make this place top notch. The fact that in a double room they give you two umbrellas and two free bottles of water, as opposed to one, for example. Not a high dollar difference, but is shows they are at least thinking about their guests a little more than other hotels.

There are two areas of the hotel, the main Tower and a smaller annex to the left of the front desk that only goes up 6 floors or so. I was in the annex, but I saw rooms in both areas and they were uniformly high quality. One small niggle - the elevators in the main hotel are slow, but the hotel management indicated they were slated for replacement.
