We booked this hotel for our 7 night honeymoon after much research, mainly done here on tripadvisor.

We arrived and were greeted by a friendly doorman and helpful reception staff. When we made our way up to our room we were greeted by a bottle of champagne and some chocolates, a very nice welcoming touch.

The room was comfortable and spacious with a large bed and plenty of seating. Our view was towards Downtown NYC, which was spectacular at night. Having the kitchenette was great, especially with the Fairway market right across the street. We would buy milk and juice and store it in the fridge, there was also a microwave, hob, plates and cutlery.

Location of the hotel is brilliant, literally 1/2 minute walk to the 72nd street subway station . 2 blocks away from central park. About 5 blocks to the American Museum of Natural History.
There are lots of pharmacies and markets very nearby and a Starbucks next door.

The hotel isn't located in Midtown Manhattan, but don't let that put you off at all, with the subway it's cheap and easy to get to anywhere in Manhattan. it's also nice to retreat from the chaotic NYC to somewhere a little quieter.

There's a large selection of places to eat, I'd recommend Shake Shack (2/3 blocks east) and the Manhattan Diner (2/3 blocks north), the Diner will also deliver to your hotel room.
Don't miss out a visit to the Levain Bakery (1 block east on 74th) for the best cookies you'll ever try.

Thank you to everyone at the Beacon who made our honeymoon so special and enjoyable, we hope to visit again in the coming years.

The Suite with Queen size bed was fabulous! Very quiet on the 18:th floor. The location to the Subway line 1 just two blocks away. the neighborhood is littered with god restaurants, nice food market just across the street.

This has to be by far the best hotel I stayed in New York. The location is brilliant, I love the neighbourhood & the subway is so close it makes it easy to travel everywhere. Love the fact you can stroll to central park in a few minutes. We’re lucky enough to stay in one bedroom suite, as big as a good size flat and furnished beautifully, wish it was my own apartment! We were on the 18th floor and the view was simply stunning. Handy to have a full kitchen to be able to cook your own meal! I can't simply find a single fault in this hotel. I really liked to be close to both Fairview marked & Zabar, 2 of the best shops I’ve ever visited.
I hope to be able to go back very soon.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher floor, view is so great!

Very good position...walking distance to central park...nice area. We had a two bedroom/2 bathroom apartment kitchen dinig/lounge area 3 flat screen televisions. Plenty of room for the four of us...very impressed...except for the Internet charges.

Stayed at this property one night last week for business. Starting to consider Hotel Beacon my "home away from home" whenever I visit NYC. Great location on the Upper West Side. A few short blocks to Central Park. Two blocks to a major subway stop at 72nd. Fantastic market directly across the street. Kind and professional service. Stay here and you'll feel like a resident, rather than a visitor.

I can't rave enough about Hotel Beacon! It's like having my own NYC apartment. The Upper West side location may seem a little out of the way, but it's a quick and close walk to the 72nd Street subway, whose express trains (be sure you get on one of those and not the non-express) whisked me away to business in mid-town in 5 minutes. Sure, I could stay at a fancy business type business type hotel in mid-town ... be there, done that (and friends are still doing that). Because I'm not in that central location, I save about $100 a night and gain an extra sitting room and mini-kitchen, perfect for extended stays for 4-5 days. Across the street is the amazing Fairways Grocery store, with food literally stacked to the ceiling. And even though there isn't room service (which you know you pay for ultimately in a higher room rate), the coffee shop next door stays open pretty late and delivers! Did I mention the Starbucks across the street?
For you fitness fans, no gym on premises, but Beacon offers a discount at a local upscale gym a block away. And with Central Park so close by, maybe you should treat yourself to some fresh air and local scenery? And there's no Business Center to speak of ... a couple of computers in a converted nook (perfectly fine for checking email and printing boarding passes). I used the wireless daily and found the signal to be perfectly adequate.
But back to the location ... you'll feel like a local in the toney Upper West side. You're within walking distance to Lincoln Center, Natural History Museum, Shake Shack and other cultural delights! I can't wait to stay again. Truly deserving of its Tripadvisor high ranking!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher floor. It is New York after all, and there is street noise. You'll al...
