This hotel was a fabulous find. Located in a quieter & residential zone in NYC, yet so close to the subway that connects one in minutes with touristy Times Square, this is the hotel we will return to on future visits. Excellent service, beautiful rooms with a charming feel, so comfortable to return to after a busy day. The suite was awesome. Staff all so courteous & helpful. The cafe next door serves great food & also pack convenient take out breakfasts. And the Beacon Bar just great. Nice little shops in the near vicinity to mooch around too. Great value in this hotel.

Fantastic staff particularly Josh Wallins in the bar who helped organise our after wedding toast back at the Beacon Bar. He and the staff were extremely helpful on a day where everything else went wrong - Central Park was closed due to a Mariah Carey concert so we couldn't get married at Belvedere Castle as planned. We had flown 23 hours from NZ for the wedding too! it could have been worst day ever! but we hastily moved along a tad and it went ahead on the Park fringe, luckily managing to round up all the guests who'd travelled from the UK, Aus and NZ as well a driving from other States. Whew, being able able to come back relax with a few friends and family made up for everything particularly as most of us were staying there. Convenient and relaxed, Josh even helped arrange th pop cakes for us! . Thank you everyone at the Beacon especially Josh who helped salvage the day for us! Oh and Lennys catering did a great job delivering picnic despite confusion at the Park gates.

Room Tip: Larger rooms are worth the extra bucks. We had 2 adults and 2 children in a std room, but other frie...

Enjoyed staying here. The room was a good size, clean and comfortable. The kitchenette was a real bonus particularly when the Fairway Market is straight across the street (check this out - brilliant). A great liquor store just along, and plenty of eating places. Staff were friendly and helpful. New York is an easy city to walk and so being on 75th was no difficulty. Would return here without question.

From check in to check out it was one of the most pleasant stays ever. The suite was immaculate. The staff was friendly, courteous and most helpful. Though not the least expensive hotel we've stayed at it was worth every penny. The kitchen is well equipped with a stove/oven, refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot and small sink .The location is wonderful being close to many great restaurants, the subway station, and Central Park. On return visits to NYC, this the place for us!

Nothing is cheap in NY city, and don't forget that tax they add on to your bill, but we were really happy with this choice. The room, the view, location and friendliness of all the employees was excellent. We stayed four nights and do not have a single complaint. The kitchenette was handy although we ate out most of the time.

Hotel is located on Broadway and 75th and was hard to get a taxi heading downtown in the morning. However, the metro stops are within two blocks and you can easily get all the way to the Staten Island ferry without transfer. Definitely would return to this hotel next time I head to NYC.

Room Tip: Our room was on the 23rd floor and provided a great view of Central Park.

New York hotels have become very expensive. Even the ones I used to know in Midtown, which were affordable three decades ago, have become quite expensive, so I decided to look elsewhere. As soon as I knew the date my son would graduate from Columbia, I booked at the Beacon in order to be sure there would be space. I didn't regret it at all. The neighborhood is very pleasant, and the hotel is at walking distance from Central Park, Riverside Park, good restaurants, and in between two subway stations of the line that runs along Broadway. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff is cheerful and helpful, from the time of booking, up to the time of checkout. It will be my first choice whenever I go to NYC.

This is a very good option if you wish to spend less than 300 bucks a night in the big apple, which is a tall order if you are also looking for quality. We were lucky to have a 19th floor room which afforded excellent views of the Upper West Side to Central Park. Make sure you request a high floor as noise from the traffic and the adjacent theater could cause some problems. The room is not spacious but for NY standards (and for the relativel good price) does the job more than satisfactorily. The bathroom was extremely clean and the staff helpful. The location is great as the metro is one block away and there are several excellent bakeries within a few blocks. I would recommend it and would certainly go back.
