“Would absolutely stay again!”
Reviewed 27 April 2014

Stayed in September of 2013 and was really happy there. Location is great-on the UWS, close to the subway and the Beacon theatre, a few blocks from Central Park and Levain Bakery... Check-in was quick and very friendly. The guy chatted about Toronto, Canada etc and it was really nice to have the personal touch.

I was in a queen room on the 14th floor. View was pretty boring-backs of buildings. It was a nice size with a comfy bed, widescreen TV and little kitchenette. The bathroom was pretty small, but not unusually so for a single room and it had reasonably nice toiletries. Everything was completely spotless and it felt very restful. I loved having my little kitchenette and being able to throw some food in the fridge, warm it in the microwave etc. The ipod dock was also a nice touch.

Wifi is free and pretty fast. No room service but they give a list of local restaurants which will deliver. It's really close to lots of restaurants and directly across from a big Fairway Market anyway so there's not much need for it. And it's NYC-if I'm there I want to spend as little time as possible in my room!

The gym downstairs is welcome but a bit poky. They have towels down there and some cardio equipment (ellipticals, treadmills etc) but the resistance section is limited to a cable machine. It's a nice effort and better than nothing, but throwing in a few sets of dumbbells would make it infinitely more useful.

-1 for the emails before the stay. My stay was being funded and it was kind of difficult to get them to confirm it! They seemed to be struggling with communication and contradicted one another. It all worked out in the end though, thankfully! I'd still stay there quite happily.

Last week we stayed for six nights at the Beacon and we're very pleased. First, the staff is very friendly and helpful. Great recommendations and they truly understand customer service. Second, it is wonderful to have what is essentially your own small apartment on the Upper West Side. Evidently it was originally an apartment building with one and two bedroom units. Our one bedroom was very comfortable with flat screen TVs in the bedroom and living room. Finally, the neighborhood is perfect. Across the street is the Fairway Market which has everything except wine and spirits which can be found two doors south of the hotel. Then there is a Starbucks on the corner to the north. A few blocks east is Central Park with the newly reopened Tavern on the Green off of 67th and Central Park West. The tree-lined residential side streets added to the great feeling of being a member of a community while visiting this terrific city. The subway was a couple of blocks away or the hotel door men (all very nice) quickly whistled for a cab. Our room faced Broadway but with the windows closed, it was very quiet. The fitness center is on the lower level, but didn't use it because we walked everywhere and spent time taking a run in the park. We will absolutely return!

Room Tip: As others have said, get on a higher floor. We were in the middle facing west which was nice but the...

3 of us stayed in a 1 bedroom suite here in mid-April. We really enjoyed our stay. The suite had plenty of room and with a handy kitchenette (we didn't cook, but we like to have breakfast in the room and pack a lunch so we can picnic while sightseeing). The Fairway Market across the street is well stocked and open from 6am - 1pm. Subway station is 2 blocks away. Central Park 3 blocks away.

Staff were helpful and courteous. The room was clean and in good repair.

The fitness room is a little sparse. A few cardio machines and a cable resistance machine. No free weights. When I checked it out when we arrived, I was a little disappointed as I like to have some free weights and a little more room to exercise in. As it turned out, we were on the go from 9 am until 11 pm every day, so I didn't see the inside of the fitness centre again.

We debated whether or not to book a car service or shuttle to get us to the airport on our departure day. We didn't want to get caught having trouble hailing a cab. In the end, there was no problem getting a cab late on a Saturday morning. Cab was cheaper.

Great value suites in a great location. Highly recommend this place.

We recently stayed here and it was not only beautiful but it is in a perfect location. We had a great dinner right around the corner and then went to a concert right next door! They upgraded us when we checked in and our room was gorgeous. We would stay there again!

After spending time at Hotel Beacon for a family trip last year, we happily returned this year, and it was even better. We were able to get four rooms total for the extended family. The new Beacon Bar is now open - an attractive, easy place to hang out in the evening. One of the three elevators being repaired is now fixed, making it quick to get an elevator going up or down. I didn't use it, but there's now a workout facility as well. We used Uber to get around, and compared to last year there just seemed to be more vehicles available with less wait time, and we consistently got the larger SUV (for 5 - 7) with limited waiting time, which wasn't the case last year.

All the same positives from our past trip were still there: super easy access to Fairway across the street for food, full (admittedly small) kitchen great for preparing breakfast and snacks, full dish cleaning service every day, a few blocks walk to Central Park, just a block away from the 72nd St. subway to get the 1/2/3 [we used it to go to Battery Park this year, to see the Stature of Liberty], a nice walk to the theater district and Times Square, and a slew of great restaurants within just a few blocks radius.

Overall, just a perfect, central location with easy access to all parts of Manhattan, and enough amenities that you can easily eat in your room - just great with kids. I'm not aware of a better choice for our family in the investigations we made. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: We got a suite for a family of 5. Mom and two youngest slept in the king-sized bed. Oldest kid sle...

Great place to have a beer on a sunny warm day! Go on the terrace and enjoy the views. Extremely slow service on 28th Feb 2011 in the evening. It took 1.5 hours to order and about 1 hour more to get a food.
