“Great hotel real value for money”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 September 2009

Stayed here for 4 nights, wonderful hotel really comfortable. Kept in good order, roomy, and excellent service from the staff. It is in a quiet location but only 30mins walk from Times Square, if you feel like walking. There is a fabulous restaurant next door which has a huge choice of dishes on it's menu and a supermarket across the road in which you can buy food and take back and cook in your room if you wish. Great hotel really enjoyed our stay there and would use it again.

We just returned from a long weekend in New York with kids (8 and 12). We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite at the Hotel Beacon. Our experience was similar to the other positive reviews here. The suite had a bedroom with a king bed, and a second bedroom with two queens - a perfect fit for our family and all very comfortable. The 2 bathrooms (small but nice) are both in a short hall between the bedrooms and a living room that adjoins a kitchenette. The suite was quiet with virtually no street noise unless we opened a window (a nice option). The suite, while not the Plaza, was very pleasant ( 3 flat screen tvs) and we had no complaints. The location as everyone remarks is terrific. Fairway across the street, Starbucks on the corner, close to the subway, Central Park and Natural History Museum; easy to grab cabs to and from. Loved the neighborhood and our stay. Will book here again.

We had a one-bedroom suite for our five nights in New York. The internet rate was $255/night which the numerous taxes brought up to about $300/night. Our room was located on the 23rd floor with a good view toward the Hudson River. The room was clean and well maintained, the decor pleasant, and the beds comfortable. The bath was small but modern and the shower was excellent. The living area included a sofa, an easy chair, and a small table that was perfect for breakfast each morning. The Beacon is very well located for getting around the city, just a five-minute walk from the 72nd St. subway. An excellent market, the Fairway, is across the street; Zabar's, where we purchased sturgeon for one of our breakfasts, is just five blocks uptown. The toaster thoughtfully accommodated bagels. Although there was a coffee maker in the kitchenette, we chose to buy our coffee each day at the adjacent Viand Café. We also discovered an excellent little bakery, Levain, on 74th Street between Amsterdam and Columbus. Lots of restaurants in the immediate area. Overall, a very comfortable stay.

We stayed at the Beacon for 7 nights and were very impressed with the appearance and cleanliness of the hotel. Our one bedroomed apartment was beautifully decorated and spacious and we found the kitchenette, two TVs and the safety deposit box in the wardrobe very useful. The location is superb with Central Park close by as well as a supermarket , shops, cafes, banks and the subway and it is only a short taxi ride to Times Square. We would highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel was just a few blocks from the subway and Central Park. Amsterdam street is just the next block over and is filled with great shopping and restaurants. Our room had a small kitchenette and across the street was an amazing grocery store so we had the option to eat a few meals in the room to save money.
The staff was helpful and friendly and the room was clean and attractive.
The only thing to note is that it was crowded with a number of tour groups when we were there.

I opted for a one bedroom suite, because I travel for a living and the idea of cooking, and having a full refrig is fantastic. The nearby shopping across the Street on Broadway was the best, and I loved the idea that this hotel was in the thick of a NY 'local neighborhood...the Time Square properties I normally used, are all transient traffic but I felt at easeaomg a whole buch of the 'locals'. Eateries are important, and there was plenty of good choice. NY hotel rooms are traditionally on the small size, but I found the one-bedroom to more than ample for spreading out, and I could work in the living areas, and mess up the bedroom at will. The location is tops; I got a MetroPass and simply hopped on and off to get everywhre and anywhere and, at any hour. Highly recommended venue; Linens, ammenities and staff were all exceptional and the price was more than fair for Manhattan; I've paid twice as much before, and not gotten anywhere near the room, or the value... I'll be going back again and again, thanks.
