“We had a fantastic stay at the Hotel Elysee”
Reviewed 30 January 2012

My husband and I spent a 4-day weekend at the Hotel Elysee a couple weeks ago. We experienced wonderful service, from the doorman and front desk to the lovely ladies who coordinated the breakfast every morning. We had a clean, beautiful and large deluxe king room as we needed a fridge and microwave after a pizza-making class we took. The whole hotel was clean, well-furnished but not too stuffy, and we particularly loved the breakfast/club room where we enjoyed hard-boiled eggs, pastries and bagels, lots of fruit...all in a lovely setting overlooking East 54th street. It was definitely worth a splurge for a perfect weekend in New York. Also, it's located very nicely- close to Broadway and the park but not RIGHT in the tourist areas, and only a couple blocks from 2 different subway stations. We highly recommend this hotel!! It reminded us of a couple lovely places we stayed in Europe.

The earlier reviews accurately describe what I experienced during my weekend stay. Small, older-in-parts, boutique hotel, impeccably clean, great staff, traditional décor, with a great continental breakfast offered in a cozy, well-appointed 2nd floor club type room. My room on the 4th floor, street-side, was spacious enough for a sitting area with a sofa. The street noise was barely noticeable, until the streets department decided on some unplanned jack hammering Sunday morning. This is not a super elegant hotel, but the high ranking for such a small hotel is deserved.

Room Tip: Room 48, street side, came with sitting area and small sofa.

My wife and I had a very pleasant 5 night stay and plan to return. The hotel is well maintained, service is excellent, the location is great, and wi-fi and breakfast are included. Upon checkout the bill was exactly as expected with no extras.

This hotel is lovely. My only tiny, tiny complaint was the brass headboards on the beds in our room. They were not comfortable to lean against and were not really consistent with this five star hotel in looks.

I've stayed here several times and the quality has been consistently good. The price includes a really nice Continental Breakfast buffet as well as wine and snacks in the evening. Every time I've stayed here I've found the hotel to be quite with very comfortable beds. In general, the service is great; however, the maid service can be improved. If you want to be near the theater district, Central Park, Radio City Music Hall and Carnegie Hall, this hotel is ideally located. This hotel has what I would call kind of a classic style to it . . . great if you want to stay at a smaller hotel without all of the hustle and bustle of NYC.

Room Tip: I like rooms in the back that are less noisy.
