Stayed here for a weekend with my significant other and could not have been happier with the staff, the location and the service! It was the perfect jump off spot for us to explore, being in such close proximity to everything that we wanted to see. All the recommendations for restaurants from the front desk were spot on. The happy hour on friday night was a great way to relax and meet other guests, and the staff would walk around offering to refill your wine glass if they saw it empty. The continental breakfast was also very good and plentiful. We stayed in a deluxe room, and found it to be very comfortable, clean and large for nyc standards. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the shower pressure was amazing! We stayed on the 7th floor in a room at the front of the hotel, and we never had a problem with street noise. We plan on returning in the near future!

We had a fantastic experience here from start to finish. All of the staff were wonderful, and the daily continental breakfast was really great. We were upgraded to a lovely suite upon arrival, and found a chilled bottle of prosecco and some chocolates waiting in our room. We would stay at Hotel Elysee again in a New York minute. The hotel is in a very nice neighborhood within easy walking distance of the theater district, Rockefeller Center and Central Park. We also had lunch across the street at Bill's, and that was great too. In this wonderful hotel we got exactly the botique hotel experience we were hoping for. Highly recommended!

Enjoyed the stay. As I understand all the rooms are different. Mine was large but very dark. I spent most of my down time in the lounge which had many sofas and chairs, as well as a library and computer. Courtesy happy hour and courtesy breakfast is a great addition to the stay. This was nice to meet and talk to other people also. I will stay again.

This is a comfortable and reasonably priced hotel in one of the most expensive areas of New York. It's a terrific location for seeing the best the NYC has to offer: Central Park, MoMA, Metropolitan Museum of Art, theatre district, Empire State Building, etc. etc. are all within easy walking distance. If you are into shopping (which I'm not) it doesn't get any better than this: Saks, Macy's, Bloomingdale's, Cartier, etc are all within a few blocks. Subway and bus access to the financial district is easy as pie, and it's nice to come back to a quiet side street in the evening to enjoy the complimentary wine and cheese (Mon-Fri). A good continental breakfast is also included and there are some excellent local bistros in the neighbourhood so you don't have to search to find good food at night. The famous Monkey Bar is part of the hotel if you are into star-gazing and expensive cocktails. All in all a great choice for a leisure trip.

We chose the Elysee for a 5-night stay in NY after reading Tripadvisor reports and considering loads of different mid-town hotels. Overall we were pleased with our choice and would stay there again. The location was great ; we tend to walk everywhere but also used the nearby subway.
On the plus side, we prefer smaller boutique type hotels and this fitted the bill. We loved the club room and the traditional decor with antiques and sofas. The breakfasts were excellent as were the evening drinks and cheese and it was really nice to be able to pop in for a cup of tea or coffee at any time during the day or evening. We don't travel with a laptop and it was also very helpful being able to use the computer there.
On the minus side, our room was at the back and had a very unpleasant view over walls and a/c systems (but it was quiet and we slept very well). If we stayed there again I would ask for a room which was at the front. While it looked as if the room and certainly the bathroom had been recently refurbished, the carpet didn't seem very clean and there was a hole in the bed valance. The a/c system was OK but we needed to put the fan on and that was quite noisy. The room was adequate in size but not spacious. Unlike most other hotels we've stayed in the US the lighting was good. Also unlike many minimalist hotel rooms, there was lots of wardrobe space and drawers to put away clothes and belongings. Daily bottles of water and a refrigerator were a nice touch.
The reception staff were polite and efficient although not particularly friendly while I agree with another reviewer who commented on the excellent clubroom staff.

We are frequent visitors to NYC. We travel often and have stayed in many, many hotels. We chose the Elysee over the other hundreds of possibles, due to Tip Adviser and guide books.

We booked our room well in advance for a six day stay. We were unpleasantly surprised when we got to our room. The front desk person told us this room was in the back of the hotel, quiet and would not have the street noise that is a problem in Manhattan. This appeals to us. We saw that we were indeed in the back of the hotel, where both the view and our auditory experience were steam vents and hotel structure motors. Motor noise from the vents was constant...seriously, constant. Our room was quite dark, with poor lighting, as well. So much for ambiance.

It was very hot in the room, and our air conditioner made loud noises and inconsistent rumbles. It froze up and stopped working if we tried to keep it running. It was too noisy to open the window, due to the motors outside the window. I would not stay here in the summer.

Our phone did not work to call the front desk or to get a dial tone.

The mattress needs replacing...we rolled to the middle.

Note that the hair dryers are from the "less is more" era. Bring your own. The shower was wonderful. Wireless internet worked well.

Information from the front desk staff was incorrect, yet offered with a bit of arrogance. Those folks looked nice and wore great suits.

Bell staff was excellent. Room was clean and cleaning staff were great.

Breakfast was ample, good variety, with a consistently excellent and attentive staff. The staff in the club room where breakfast was served was the best I've seen anywhere.

Lovely hotel in a perfect location. 10 minute walk to GCS and Central Park. 6 train is just around the corner on Park and 53rd and makes accessing SoHo, the Brooklyn bridge and the Upper East side a breeze. Hotel staff are personable, courteous and helpful. I took my niece for her 10th Birthday and there was a gift waiting for her when we arrived in our QUIET room on the 15th floor. Our bathroom was not big, but better than most Manhattan hotels ( at least twice the size of a bathroom at the Roosevelt) and it has a window that opens up to a view of Park Ave. We did not have to wait for hot water, even though we were on the 15th floor.
Loved the breakfast, fresh fruit salad (not in syrup), croissants, bagels, muffins, boiled eggs, etc. Prosecco was lovely to come "home" to after a long day in the city. My niece had choices of fresh juices and loved the cheese as well. Great restaurants within 30 seconds or 10 minutes (by foot) of the lobby (in heels I might add).
The one thing I would mention as a minor inconvenience is the noise the A/C makes. However, the A/C worked well, the room stayed cool and we slept through the nights.

I stayed at the Roosevelt last year and even though it has a grand, beautiful Lobby/Foyer, that is about as far as it goes. The Elysee has charm, character and a relaxed atmosphere and its guests are treated as a someone, not a digit.

Thank you for a lovely stay with perfect weather, we will return.
