We stayed at the Salisbury Hotel for our first trip to NY back in Aug/September this year. We found the staff on the desk and the doormen very helpful. Our room was on the 16/17th floor and had 2 x double beds, bathroom with bath, wardrobe and fridge/small kitchen area.
The Salisbury was perfect for us, a block or so south of Central Park and 1-2 mins to subway (on each end of street). We had 5 days of exploring NY and did a lot of walking and using the subway.
Room were clean and made up every day. Bathroom was really clean although the decor was old, but we were not bothered to be honest as we only slept in our room. The breakfast also suited us, $6 I think per day for toast, crossaints, doughuts, cereal, juice, fruit salad. we just filled up on breakfast then went out for the day. Our initial idea was to go out for breakfast every day but we just wanted to eat and get going so it suited us fine. Servced on plastic plates etc, so not lucury at all. seen a few reviews that were a bit snobby about this but we thought it was fine.
all in all, would definately come back and stay at bthe Salisbury if the price was good. We spent £500 for £5 nights staying there on a deal through expedia.

On Checking in we were upgraded to large twin room with spacious sitting room which had large plasma T.V., & desk. Also kitchen area with Fridge, Microwave & Coffee Maker.
Buffet Continental Breakfast available at $6 great value.
Rooms were spotlessly clean & beds were extremely comfy.
All Staff very pleasant & helpful.
Great location, only block from Central Park and Tube Station nearby.
Would definitely use this hotel again.

This hotel was great, breakfast was $6 which we didnt use as their were so many cafe`s near by. We were given two double beds on the 9th floor, a standard room, it had a mini kitchen, fridge, microwave coffee maker, it would of been nice for a kettle as im not to keen on coffee in first thing in the morning. It was close to central park like 2mins away, Times Square was 10 mins, Macys department store was probley 20mins walking at a steady pace. Also the Rockafeller Center was not far either, the hotel was a perfect location, and would highly recommend it.

The Salisbury is not cheap (but hey this is Manhattan!) and the decor of our room was a little tired but the room itslef was clean and large enough. However, the location more than made up for any shortcomings. A subway station just around the corner, central park a stone's throw away and the Rockefeller centre and Times Square just a short (10 to 15mins) walk away made for a perfect base to explore Manhattan.

We stayed at the Salisbury for 9 nights in early September. My initial attraction to the hotel was the room rate, but in addition to this, the reviews on Trip Advisor were favourable, so with these two reasons combined I chose to stay there. We could not have been happier or more impressed with our accommodation for our first trip to New York. From check-in to check-out, the staff were helpful and courteous. We were fortunate to be upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite when we checked in (after flying for 22+ hours, this was a very nice surprise!!). The room was fabulous, large lounge room with big flat screen TV, kitchen area with fridge & microwave, 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms - each with large flat screens. Beds were very comfortable - one bedroom had a king sized bed, other had 2 queen size beds. It was very spacious and very comfortable, and having that extra space was great, our kids were really happy to have their own TV, bathroom and a queen sized bed each.

The location of the hotel is excellent - a block and a half away is Central Park, half a block down the street was a great mini supermarket, Starbucks across the road, a great pizza restaurant 2 doors down called Angelo's & a really pleasant 15 minute walk and you're in the heart of Times Square.

We could not have been happier with this hotel and would recommend it to anyone lucky enough to be staying in this wonderful city.

It is located near Central Park , Fifth avenue and many major attractions. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Beds are good quality ones (sleep inducers actually). An incredible breakfast is offered at a very convenient price. The staff is helpful and friendly at all times. The only drawback is the hall which is very small. I recommend it.

What can I say about this amazing hotel that made me want to quit my job and stay here forever!
Walk out the front door and look left you have central park, look right and you have times square, and a subway what more could you possibly ask for.
A perfect location, yes the room didn’t provide a view but you shouldn’t be looking out the window you should be out there enjoying the most amazing town! I loved this hotel I loved the most amazing people that helped me get delicious oysters at 1opm on Sunday night because Grand Central Station has made me fall in love with them!
I can’t say how much i loved my trip and this hotel was perfect on every front to visit this never sleeps town!

The subways are easy to pick up and the staff always happy to help. I got my hair cut and styled at the fabulous salon around the corner, Zia I think and they were so great!

Cant say enough great things about this hotel, a great find!
