I stayed here with my friends over a long weekend. I usually try to stay in a different area each time I visit NYC. The room itself was pretty small, however, it was very clean. The bathroom was also small, but it was clean as well. There weren't many amenities in the room, since it is very small, but the staff was very helpful and responded quickly to our requests.

What I liked:
- we parked in NJ and took the train to Manhattan. The hotel is only a 10 minute walk from the train station (world trade centre)
- subway right outside
- starbucks next door, whole foods one block away
- close proximity (walking) to shopping, and Little Italy and Chinatown

What I disliked:
- very noisy a/c unit
- small window

I would recommend anyone looking for a hotel in Manhattan in the mid-range budget. But if you are picky and like newer hotels, then you would not like this place. It is a bit older, but is clean, and I would stay here again if the price is right.

Booked through Last Minute and got a good price.

Room was small but only really used as a base - air conditioning had a bit of a rank smell at first but got used to it quickly. Large TV, sink in room rather than bathroom which worked really well for two girls sharing! Shower fine, small, but relative to cost. Hotel was immaculate, great reception with huge Macs and a machine to print off boarding passes etc.

I LOVED the neighbourhood. Really chilled, not in the hustle and bustle of Times Square but subway outside with 1, 2 & 3 trains. Other trains accessible. Easy walk to financial district, WTC and Century 21!

Good brunch places nearby! Would definitely stay there again.

Fun - somewhat funky - historic old hotel. Originally built in the 1850s this property has been used as a hotel ever since, but it doesn't look it! The hotel has been extensively remolded, but some parts of it's history still manage to wear though.

The rooms are pricey (it's Tribeca NY!!) and they are small -- tiny -- (again, it's Tribeca NY!!) We stayed in a room with two double beds, and joked about having little room to shut the door to the bathroom! The elevator was finicky (at best). The (window) air conditioner units are noisy, and so was the street down below -- but we sorta liked being lulled to sleep with the sounds-of-the-city (subway rattles, taxi horns, fire sirens, people, laughter) as a background soundtrack.

We wish the room had a refrigerator (there is a great NY City type corner market across the street). And a coffee maker would have been nice. There is a Starbucks shop in the first floor which is convenient, but wished the hotel would work out a system to deliver Starbucks to the room in the morning. We found the hotel's WiFi to be useable (but kept getting bumped off and needed to log back in with a password -- ugh -- We'd also like more electrical outlets, (again it's an older property so we understand, but maybe power-strip would be nice?)

So would we stay there again - ABSOLUTELY.
The room was very clean and the staff were fantastic! We'd especially commend all the bell-staff. We stayed there four nights and by night three, we were being recognized at the door, and they rushed to get our "routine" evening bucket of ice. (Kudos!!) We also loved the (independently owned) Cafe on Chambers Street side, -- fantastic breakfasts and lunches.

Aside from the staff, one of the best features of the hotel, was the location. The 1, 2, 3, is right outside the door, and the A, B, C, line is a (short) block away.

Thanks Cosmo for a good trip -- we will be back someday.

Our room was on the 4th floor. The room was small but clean, and the bed was comfortable. Staying 4 people in it was a bit tight, but definitely doable. We only had bags for a long week-end so with more luggage I imagine that it could be a bit tighter in space. If you want an ice bucket and ice, bottle opener, or need other things (didn't notice an iron in the room) you will have to call down to the reception to get them. However the staff were all really friendly and very helpful, and we never waited long to get what we had asked for.

For me, the main issue with the hotel was the air conditioning. It is a window unit and pretty loud. If you are a light sleeper as I am you’ll want to bring earplugs. We could hear a bit of noise from the other room while in the bathroom, but otherwise it was pretty quiet (the AC may have had something to do with that). The Wifi sometimes was hard to connect to, but generally worked fine. There’s also only one elevator that we did sometimes have to wait for, but that was a minor annoyance at most. There’s a Starbucks right next to the hotel which is convenient for a quick coffee in the morning.

The hotel is close to the subway which is practical for getting around. There are also many restaurants in walking distance as well as tourism activities including the world trade memorial.

A well appointed, stylish hotel that punches above its three star rating in my opinion. My room was not cheap, but hey, this is New York. Fantastic location - you can get just about anywhere by the subway or walking. My room was very comfortable, but rather compact. My only real complaint was the room size, in particular the room's width - as a long distance traveller from the other side of the world, I had a rather large suitcase that was difficult to find space to open up fully in my room.

I must give a special commendation to the front desk staff, who were not only professional, sophisticated and courteous, but were genuinely interested in having a brief chat about my experiences of their city. I especially commend whoever trains these staff, as it would be easy to employ well manicured, disinterested robots, for whom their work was just a job.

Finally, I would say that this hotel is an ideal location to get in the "New York state of mind" that Billy Joel once sang a song about. I found NY a much friendlier and easier place to get around than I had imagined. I would definitely consider using this hotel again.
