Great location to Times Square! The rooms seemed to have a very nice quality to it (we had a suite, perhaps they were all suites). Our confirmation said we were booked in a standard room with a king bed. The hotel seemed pricey, but we stayed there using Hilton Hotel points.

The only odd thing was that the bathroom vent had an automatic strong draw of air. I blocked the vent with some sheet of paper so it would not suck out all of the heat from the room. It got a little cold for use until I blocked the vent.

Entering the hotel was kind of different. You have to enter a hallway and take an elevator you to the hotel lobby. After that it was pretty nice.

We stepped out for food in the city and saw a couple of Broadway shows which were walking distance. I will consider staying here again.

Love it here. As always Hannah and Benny are great at breakfast. BUT have to mention Daniel at the front desk, always polite, taking time to answer question and has ideas to make stay more interesting. However, I do miss his cowboy hat he has worn for years!
One complaint---do something about the slick bathtubs. You need some safety strips in the tubs before someone falls

Hotel is in excellent location for our purposes, which was to see a few shows and do a little shopping, right on times square across from the discount theater tickets. Check in was very good, despite massive renovations ongoing in lobby. They allowed us to check in very early, about noon, and upgraded us to the 43 floor with a view toward Central Park. Front desk manager mentioned that bottles of water (a gold Hhonors benefit) would be delivered to the room, however, that did not happen. Front desk and bell staff were friendly as was the concierge, however, the concierge could not seem to get anything done for us that we couldn't do ourselves. Room was huge (for New York) and in pretty good condition. The included breakfast buffet was pretty standard fare with a separate station for fresh made omelettes, french toast, pancakes, etc. Waiter that we had for both days was the weakest staff member we encountered, mumbling most of the time and didn't seem to understand us either, serving us things we did not ask for and not sevring us things that we did ask for. Overall, a pretty nice stay, not the best I have experienced from Doubletree (the Doubletree in Jersey City is amazing), but still good and the location can't be beat.

Fitness room was ridiculously tiny given the size of the hotel. Too much waiting to get on equipment. Needs much more equipment and a bigger space. Internet connection was not strong enough. Kept dropping me. We found a used band aid stuck to the sheets. No one in my family was using band aids on our trip We ordered room service fro the kids ( pizza and spaghetti and meatballs and a ginger ale). The portions on all three where ridiculously small for the cost.We were told when we made the reservation if we had any requests such as a good view. We said yes - higher up and a view would be great. We faced a very tight alley in the back. We paid approx. $650/night for two nights (w/ valet special). I feel that the cost was not nearly worth it due to the above. I will say that the staff was very friendly - especially the doormen.

First visit to NYC and wanted to ensure a central location to maximize visiting time of 4 days. Would stay here again if I revisited. And as someone who does not like lifts, it is not a huge skyscraper hotel so did not have to endure being up too high. Hotel clean, you get free Wifi in lobby area, in fact you seemed to get free Wifi all over NYC. Hotel charges $14.99 to use in room for 24 hours, not worth it unless you intend to spend hours in room which we didnt. Beds were comfy and so nice after a long day of walking. There are some decent places very near hotel to eat breakfast and good value for money. You have to walk around a bit to find places for evening meal, so worth doing research before you go especially if you want to eat a particular food type. Found a great Thai but cannot remember the name only 5 mins from hotel. And there is a burger place almost opposite the hotel, but high end, not McD etc..Milkshakes are the best ever!

Subway stop right on the corner, use the subway it's fast and cheap. Although be prepared for homeless people using this to sleep on. Not very clean overall and looks rundown.

If you are fit enough to walk, you can easily walk to Times Square (Broadway) and Central Park from the hotel. For shopping, 34th street has an array of shops. Fantastic shopping mall on Staten Island (Staten Is Mall). Take the Subway to ferry Port and then bus from Staten Island to the Mall, you would need bus number 44 and it cost only $2.50 (you can use Metro card on bus). It is a bit of a trek, but was the best mall we found and also got to see more of the Island. Got the feeling not too many Brits venture to mall as all shop staff kept saying how awesome it was to hear British accents. But if you are there just to shop it is worth the journey.

Century 21 is another good Dept Store. Very near to Ground Zero, so if visiting there worth a visit. (Remember to take photo ID if you want to see the actual memorial, or you will not get in as we found).

NYC is busy with traffic and busy with people right up until dark and can see why it has the 'city that never sleeps' tag. I'm still struggling with the so good they named it twice. I've visited many cities and felt surprised at my reaction that it was not somewhere I would want to rush back to. I believe first appearances can set an image and if I was blindfolded leaving the airport, I would have thought in a 3rd world country. I've never seen so much rubbish strewn across the roads and it looked so shabby. Cairo is 3rd world, NYC need to take a lesson or two from them as one thing they do is make sure the roads leading from the airport are spotless, a welcome to the tourists.

But worth a visit nevertheless, but do not base America on NYC if first visit as there are far more nicer places in the US in my opinion

Room Tip: Avoid staying near the lifts, as a lot of noise going on.

Agree with all other posts related to location and proximity to Times Square, Hell's Kitchen and the theater district. It is a great place to step out the door and be emmersed in the high voltage activity of Times Square. Appreciated the front desk manager, Elizabeth, reaching out before we arrived to ensure we had a great visit. Housekeeping staff on the 43rd floor was very responsive to special requests like extra towels and coffee. Traveled with family and the suite allowed for privacy along with two TVs that provided everyone their choice of channels. As mentioned, rennovations are in progress. Apparently they are behind on completion. When I booked the reservation, the website indicated everything would be completed before my visit. All other operations of the hotel are fully functional. I would visit again and look forward to seeing the lobby rennovations.
