The Doubletree Suites Times Square is a fantastic hotel in a fantastic location. I prepaid my room at a fair rate - rates for this hotel, like other NYC hotels - flucuate drastically depending on demand & date. I had a top floor room facing 7th Ave. & Central Park. Very quiet and prefer this view to Times Square. Hotel is within walking distance of Broadway theaters, subway, the park, and most mid-town attractions. The room was certainly spacious enough, with double sink dressing area. There was a billing issue which the front desk solved efficiently. The warm chocolate ship cookie was a welcome treat. I would stay here again.

I stayed for business but there were lots of families, probably taking advantage of the extra space and queen-size, modern sofa sleeper (modular, without the old-style springs). My room was quiet even though it was directly across from the elevator because the separate bedroom door helps block any noise in the hallway. My room faced Times Square, and the room blocked the outside noise fairly well - keeping the fan on constantly helped generate extra white noise.

The front desk recommended a great Greek diner (Evergreen) a few steps away that served good, basic food for breakfast and lunch at cheap prices (for NYC).

OUTSIDE: Nothing fancy

LOBBY: Again nothing fancy

CHECK IN: Fast and efficient. Very friendly staff...had our room ready around 2pm, gave us 4 fresh cookies and we were off to the room.

ROOM: It's great for traveling with teenagers, They have a nice fold out couch with a flat panel TV that has all the connectors to add a portable DVD player or a game. Bathroom was clean and had everything we needed. My youngest daughter forgot her toothbrush and the front desk supplied her with one. The view was great....looking down on to town square, If you open the windows, you can enjoy the sounds of the streets from the 16th floor but closing the windows shuts out most all of the noise. The A/C worked fine.

LOCATION: Couldn't be better. You are directly across from TKTS for discount show tickets...starbucks everywhere...close to the subways and walking distance to restaurant row.

CONCIERGE: concierge service was the best. They got us tickets to Lion King...great seats for the Yankee game and made reservations at 4 and 5 star restaurants for us. They were always friendly and went above and beyond for us.

PRICE: Remember the location. I originally booked this room for $345 per night and thought that was a decent price considering the primo location.... kept checking until i saw a special running where you have to pay for 1 night up front and no changes are allowed...we reduced it ti $290 per night.

HOTEL RESTAURANT: We only ate breakfast.... food was good... they have a buffet or menu option.

Notes: They check keys before allowing you on the elevator after 8pm... I like that. They also have a kiosk set up to print your boarding passes. Very convenient.
