“Almost perfect!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 April 2012

We stayed at this hotel for six nights in April over Easter 2012. We booked the hotel online and were glad they had an open cancellation as well as breakfast included in the price. 275$ a night was pricey but as we have no other hotel in NY to compare it with we booked it. We had been in Philadelphia the same time period a year before and had a room that was 3 times as large as well as a view for 100 dollars less and it was downtown. Needless to say we were nervous when arriving as we didnt know what to expect. Our room was small! We had trouble finding room for our 3 large suitcases in the room. The closet was even smaller so we couldnt put that many clothes in the closet which is frustrating when staying six nights. Our room was a constant mess as we had no where to put things. Our beds were very comfortable and we were thanful for a window with fresh air. It is NY so of course it was noisy at night, we solved this by getting some ear plugs from the drug store around the corner. The room was dark in that it was painted an orange color so it needed more light I would say. We had a desk, bedside tables, and a tv on the wall. There was only enough space to walk to the other side of the bed between the bed and the wall so it was a small room. We loved our neighborhood. The park, restaurants, closeness of subway, drugstore, shopping and the quietness compared to other areas. The breakfast of bagels and toast and croissants, fresh fruit, yogurt, cheese and cold cereal was perfect for us. The staff were amazing. Our room was cleaned and made up each day despite the mess they would have to deal with in our room. We received restaurant recommendations and a warm greeting and farewell everytime we came to the lobby. We were provided a late check out on our last day as well and we were able to reorganize our luggage and what not in a spare room after a long day of more shopping before flying home. I would say though for the size of the room, the room rate is too high, but the staff do there best to make up for this in service. I would recommend this hotel.

We liked this place - we had a quiet room (307) and weren't bothered by our neighbors, and we appreciated the breakfast being included in the room price and enjoyed the fruit, pastries, yogurt, and cereal being offered sometimes in the quirky little bar and sometimes just off the lobby (and until 11 a.m., another plus!). We also had coffee in the room. The decor wasn't cookie-cutter, with real old wood, photos of old-time movie stars, and many pleasing custom touches. The price was quite competitive, and the location was perfect for us - just across from Washington Square in the West Village, in a good walkable area near plenty of places to eat (Babbo is right across the street). Very helpful service, very clean, and of course, the room is small - this is New York, folks.

Room Tip: We had a window (actually two, one in the room, and another in the bathroom, which was at right angl...

I've been to NYC a couple times but this was my first stay in Greenwich Village. I had a wonderful time. Everyone on the staff here was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and pleasant. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Top floor room (9th floor) was quiet enough.

Our room was on the 9th floor and looked out onto the street with Washington Square visible to the left. We don't like air conditioning so just kept the window open and were not bothered by noise - possibly because we were tired after very busy days in New York. Our room was a bit small, but very comfortable and with a good shower. (don't choose 715 - it looks onto an interior wall!) The staff were friendly and helpful and internet availability was perfect after a problem on the first day. Breakfast was a large bowl of fresh fruit, juice, cofee/tea, bagels, muffins and scones. Delicious! The greeter Ronnie was wonderful - always ready with directions and tips of what to see and where to eat. We really missed him at the weekend! We enjoyed our stay there very much and hope to return. We were made to feel like Villagers getting to know the staff in several shops and restaurants,(.foodsofny.com/village-soho tour introduced us!) and every major sight was easily accessible from the nearby subway, We often returned late at night from the Blue Note, Birdland, Staten Island Ferry trips etc, sometimes stopping to eat at a local diner and the neighbourhood felt very safe. We miss being there!

Room Tip: ask for a room with a view of Washington Square - don't choose room 715

The room size is adequate for this wonderful gem, right in the heart of Greenwich Village. The staff are helpful, room was quite and clean, though a touch overheated.
Staff were really helpful in many ways, and the valet was really helpful in helping us find our way around this massive island of Manhattan. But really, you don't have to go far to find yourself immersed in the New York scene. There are great shops all around, bars and restaurants, though the restaurant that is attached to the hotel - The North Square is hard to beat for fabulous food and great service.

I enjoyed my stay at the nice little boutique hotel in the Village. Yes, the rooms are tiny, but this is New York! Service was great. My room was on the 8th floor and actually very quiet. And the location is fabulous, right on Washington Square, convenient to NYU and the West Village. Breakfast is included, which saves you money. It's not fabulous, but will fill you up. And wi-fi is also included. A good value.

This place charges way too much for very small, claustrophobic rooms. The room I had did not even have a real window. The walls are paper thin. I was woken up at midnight by the person in the next room taking a shower. It sounded like a jet engine flying past when the water rushed past my room. To make matters worse, the air conditioning (which you must leave on because else you will have no air to breathe at all) made noise all night long. Thank God I only had to spend one night here! Now that I am home, I am finding little bites all over my body. I hope I did not bring home any bed bugs from that place.
