“Good location, great staff”
Reviewed 7 February 2014

Recently spent three days there, yes, rooms are small but I expect that in New York. My room was comfortable, nice bath with walk in shower, no tub. All staff very accommodating from the front desk to the doormen, housekeepers and the coffee bar staff. Great location on upper west side near subway and always easy to get a cab on Broadway! About the only thing missing is a nice lobby bar.

If you plan to arrive to the hotel late in the day, do not expect to get the room you want. At the time of reservation, I asked for the highest room possible because I had read that Broadway could be loud. Upon arriving, there was not record of my request and the hotel staff tried to put me on the first floor! When I said that was not acceptable, they DOWNGRADED me! I had reseved a King room and they gave me a queen! I travel fairly frequently for both business and pleasure and have NEVER been downgraded. Once getting to my room, the radiator heater was broken and my room was close to 90 degrees. The hotel sent someone to fix the radiator, but he didn't know how. His suggestion was to open the window. Are you kidding me? It's the middle of January and is 15 degrees outside. Not to mention how loud the road is down below. He finally, turned on the window airconditioner wich was very loud and kept me awake all night. For the price and the fact that there are so many nice hotels in the area, I will never stay at Hotel Belleclarie again.

It was my first stay there. The hotel and rooms were kept clean. They have complimantry tee and choco in the lobby which was nice in the cold. The room was very large, a great soft bed, clean toilet, safe, ironing board and iron, and other stuff. The location was perfect as well. Just 2 blocks from sub way train #1 and a 5 minute walk to the park. There's a nice supermarket just around the corner. All in all i had a great stay.

We loved the hotel Belleclair. We are a family of 5. The rooms are on the smaller side but was enough for us, bathroom was tiny.
The location was great, we stayed during a snow storm and was always nice and warm to walk back into with hot chocolate at the ready for the kids to warm up with.
The only down for me was not having a coffee machine in the room, although they do sell nice coffee down in the lobby, but only in the mornings.
Would define tld stay there again

There are many lovely things about the Belleclaire: pleasant, helpful staff; great Upper West Side location only a few minutes' walk to the subway; small but very clean rooms; comfortable bed; convenient coffee bar in the lobby for a quick bite in the morning; free newspapers in the lobby.

But there is no thermostat to control the heat in one's room--and when I was there (winter), the room was too hot to sleep well, the radiator clanking away all night. Free WIFI was a plus, but there were several early mornings when there was no access (too many guests online?)

Rooms do appear equipped with individual window air conditioners for hot weather--this may make for a much more comfortable stay at other times of year. I will give the Belleclaire another try when balmy weather returns--and my rating may then be higher.
