Great little hotel in a great neighborhood. Friendly staff, comfortable room, and cozy bed. Bright, attractive lobby with coffee bar. Street parking and one block to subway. Restaurants and Zabar's nearby.

We stayed in room #300, the King Deluxe room, which faced Broadway. It was very clean and comfortable. The floor is faux wood. No carpeting! The bathroom is ceramic tiled. Sure there was noise from the street, but this is NYC! Never found any noise to be a bother during our stay. The room did tend to get very warm (cannot open the window) even though the radiator was nearly off. and yes, the radiator did make loud "noises" when it was warmin' up because that's what radiators do. A large wooden box under the window, that was taped shut, held an air conditioner. I did untape it, plug in the air conditioner & turned it on for a bit, just to cool down the room. It worked perfect! I did tape it all back up when I was finished with it. The bathroom shower was very large, but it took about 5-8 minutes of running the water to finally get it hot enough. Inside the closet there is an extra pillow & blanket, along with an umbrella, iron and ironing board, luggage rack and room safe. Even with all that in the closet, there is still room to hang up whatever you needed to. Beverages and snacks are offered in room but BEWARE, they are very expensive! If you want snacks in your room, walk around the corner from the hotel to Westside Market on Broadway. Much cheaper :-) Every morning until 12pm the small cafe, in the lobby, offers coffee, tea, bagels & asst. pastries for purchase. In the afternoon, the hotel lobby offers coffee & tea, for free! There are also free copies of the USA TODAY newspaper in the lobby. The subway, which will take you to anywhere in the city, is a couple minutes walk (2 blocks) from the hotel. Very convenient! Central Park and the Museum of Natural History are just East of the hotel, another short walk. The hotel has a car service working with them so you won't have to worry about getting to the airport on time. It cost us $60 total (tip included) to get a ride from the hotel to LaGuardia. AND we had a brand new car to ride in! Every staff member we encountered was very nice & helpful. The only complaint I have is the odd smell, like someone was cooking in their room?, that was in the hallway everytime we got off the elevator or exited the stairwell & walked to our room. weird. I highly recommend this UWS hotel

I'm an experienced traveller - I've done it in style and I've slummed it. Belleclaire barely deserves its 3 stars but if you're going to stay here bring your own water - theirs isn't complementary and they'll charge you $10 for a litre bottle.

This is an older building with central heating. As a result it is very difficult to get the temperature you want when you want it. I was promised feather pillows when I booked, when is checked in, when I arrived in the room. After staying three days, they finally got me some. I wouldn't have stayed here if they had been honest about the synthetic-only pillows. Loud housekeeping conversations in the stairwells could be heard in my room two flights up. Someone was also consistently breaking the non-smoking policy and that was wafting into my room. Great location on west side but I won't stay again given the challenges I had getting comfortable. Also beware that the family suite does not have a door separating one sleeping area (parents) from the other(children near the door); anyone using the bathroom in the night will wake everyone up as well.

A wonderful boutique hotel in the UWS. Staff was wonderful and helpful and the room a good size for NY! We were upgraded w/o an increase in price and room switched w/o any hassle. Everything about the stay was perfect.

The hotel is in a great position, close to the metro and in an area with a lot of restaurants and cafes. Staff was nice and professional. When I booked, I wrote I was going to stay there with my parents and asked for a room away from the road, which they gave us. The room was big, nice and clean, with enough towels and toiletries for four people. I am very satisfied with my choice.

There is only one negative point I should mention. We decided to go to JFK airport with the hotel's taxi. We needed to go to the Thrifty car rental near the airport. I gave the address both to the concierge and to the driver. The driver thought Thrifty was in the same place of the other JFK car rentals, so he took us there. When he saw Thrifty was not there, first he said Thrifty must have been at another airport and then he basically "kidnapped" us for more than one hour. He didn't know where Thrifty was, didn't have a GPS on board and was also not very cooperative (I offered him to use the GPS on my phone and he accepted only after 45 minutes driving around with no results). Maybe the hotel should provide the drivers with a gps … And/Or the drivers should be a little bit more cooperative with the people they drive around.

Dear seremariposa,

We are thrilled with your comments regarding our prime location, our service, cleanliness, the comfort, and our Hotel value. As you kindly mentioned, we are situated in the heart of the Upper West Side; a magnificent, cultural and residential neighborhood that is located steps away from the subway station. Our location offers easy access to various main attractions and locations throughout NYC. However I am sorry that you had a less than exceptional experience and that there was an element of your stay (Taxi) that you found needed improvement, and this will certainly be addressed. We really appreciate your business. Please feel free to contact our reservations department at 1-877-468-3522 or reservations@hotelbelleclaire.com.

The hotel was an unexpected supprise tucked into the upper west side neighborhood with east access to public transportation, Central Park and the Muesum of Natural History both within walking distance made a relaxing choice. The staff was great and the management was on the top of its game being everyone at once. High praises to the attentive staff.
