This hotel is located in a great spot - plenty of restaurants, shops, and easy access to public transportation. The room I stayed in was small, but well appointed. My only complaint was the window A/C unit. The fan was incredibly loud (even on low), and when it would kick on in the middle of the night, I inevitably woke up.

I had high expectations as we were staying in a Parlour Suite (best rooms in the hotel). Hotel staff were all fine, however we had some issues with the room. When we arrived the fridge wasn't working. If I wanted to use the free wifi I had to sit in the hallway which was really annoying. We advised reception and it was never fixed. Out toilet also kept clogging & not flushing to the point where we were sick of calling reception and asked them to leave the plunger with us (not very romantic for a honeymoon). The price was good however would I choose to stay here again? - No - I would rather pay more somewhere else unfortunately.

This boutique hotel was a breath of fresh air. Although we travelers were dressed informally, the staff was dressed very businesslike and were very professional and efficient. Great location. Good stores nearby. Stand up NY comedy club nearby was fun.

We were two friends staying in a room with two double beds over a long weekend. I will start by prefacing that we had purchased a deal on TravelZoo and the price could not be beat! The location of Hotel Belleclaire is very nice - it is on a quiet street lined with brownstones with proximity to the subway to easily get around the city. Central Park is two blocks away for a nice stroll any time of day. The hotel has a nice old world charm when you walk in; although recently renovated, they did make an effort to maintain some of the architectural elements that gave it character. The room (401) was small but comfortable in that we had everything we needed - beds to sleep in and a little room for our things. My biggest complaint was the bathroom. The bathroom was not updated like in some photos but most importantly, it was not clean or maintained. We had a leaky faucet, a loose faucet in the shower, the tiles had questionable stains and there was no counter space to keep toiletries out. Overall, if you get a good price I would say go for it but request a room with an upgraded bathroom.

Nothing like a friendly and efficiently run hotel after a hectic day of touring the Big Apple. And such a nice surprise to find a complementary bottle of wine, a chocolate bar and pretzels to nibble on as well! Yes, the room was a bit tight, but the shower was great, the room was surprisingly well appointed, and it was clean as can be. Definitely a place to return to.

First the complaints. The room was very very small and fairly pricey, with only a view of an air shaft, which is what you'd expect in NYC during the Summer tourist season. Still, it's not a great value. The room was not a place I wanted to spend one more second in that was absolutely necessary. And that's a problem for me. The corridor carpet on my floor was dirty and that was my first impression when the elevator door opened. And I have to say, that colored my feeling about the place.

On the plus side, the bed was very comfortable, and the staff was polite, friendly and efficient. It's among the most reasonably priced hotels on the Upper West Side, which is a plus if you want to be in that neighborhood. On the other hand, if you're a tourist in New York, why would you want to be in that neighborhood? There are a few decent restaurants there, but nothing spectacular. Downtown is much more interesting, and much more expensive. Overall, I'd stay there again if I was looking to not spend a lot of money and needed to be in that area (which I did on that trip). Otherwise I'd go online and try to find better accommodations.

Room Tip: Try to get a street view room.

We needed to find a hotel quickly during Summer and cam across this one as it was the cheapest hotel we could, find for a couple of nights before we moved into an apartment for 10 days. The rooms were very small, no fridge, no coffee/tea making facilities. Noise could be heard from the hallway. Internet worked intermittently. No wardrobe or drawers for clothes. Toilet blocked & had to get that seen to. Coffee bar on ground floor during the morningS didn't display prices and we would have been better off getting coffee out on Broadway. On the positive side, this hotel is close to the Metro and supermarkets and restaurants. The supermarket (Westside Market) will actually heat up prepared food, they sell so,you can actually eat this in your room if you so,desire.
