“Great neighborhood”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2014

My husband and I loved staying at Hotel Belleclaire. It was a nice, quiet, quaint hotel in the heart of the upper west side of Manhatten. The area surrounding the hotel was also great with plenty to see.

friendly staff and a great location. They were very helpful in understanding my needs. The rooms are decent - bigger than most New York City hotels - and the showers have good pressure. They emptied my mini-bar fridge for me so I could use it for my own food without question, and quickly. Helpful staff, decent place. Not too noisy in this part of town.

I had a twin bedded room with two large queen size beds. The beds were comfortable and the room was a fair size. The shower room was good. The reception area was spacious and there was a helpful concierge to help us and arrange bookings. However the reception counted as the lounge as well.
There was no restaurant and no bar for alcoholic drinks. There was no coffee making facilities in the room. There was a very small coffee bar in the reception area open in the mornings only from 6.30am till 12 noon. This bar sold bakery items such as cakes, croissants and bagels + hot drinks, so our breakfast which was included in the price consisted of a hot drink and one bakery item to be eaten in reception.
The hotel was in a good position just off Broadway with the subway to Times Sq nearby about 10 mins ride. We did walk there through nearby Central Park on occasions.
There was no room service.

Room Tip: We asked for a quiet room and got one on 7th floor which did not over look the main Rd, it was quie...

Sure, you are uptown, but that's the greatest asset for the Hotel Belleclaire. Close to Central Park, and only a block away from the subway, this property offers the elegance of a lovingly restored (and subtly modernized) building with all of the modern trappings. The rooms are spacious and clean, the beds comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet and free of the commercial hype of Midtown, yet not inconvenient at all.

Room Tip: Rooms on the east side face Broadway, which can be a bit more noisy in the overnight hours, though n...

Old, dated, small unit. Narrow hallways and rooms with no view except fire escape alleyways. Good location and would only return with generous discount specials. Window AC unit very loud, bring plugs!

This was our second summer trip through NYC where we stayed at the Belleclaire. Both stays were great. The hotel is charming, very much boutique hotel feel. The rates were very reasonable given the area. The staff was friendly, even upgrading us because they were out of cots for the kids (we checked in at 8pm). We love the upper west side, and this has become out go-to hotel.

Our two night stay at the Hotel Bellclaire for my wife's birthday was a very pleasant experience. The hotel lobby has the feel of some of the small European hotels we have stayed in.Tthe jugs of refeshing lemon water, iced tea, and other infused waters that awaited you in the lobby were greatly appreciated upon your return from a nice long walk in nearby Central park. a quit tree lined street greats you as you exit the hotel, but a short walk away is vibrant upper Broadway with many shops and stores. On average, it was a $15 cab ride to Times Square or Rockefeller Center. After observing the throngs of tourists and visitors running around the city at this time of year, it was a pleasure to retreat to the quiet of the hotel on the upper West Side.
