“Pleasant stay at this old style hotel”

Our room on the high floor is small but has good layout which makes the efficient use of the limited space. The furniture style and the bathroom seem "old world" but all is functional and charming. The two elevators are not connected so you have to choose one or the other or press both buttons. The front desk staff are a bit stiff; no smile; acting like they are doing you a favor. The maid who came to offer a turndown service and the doorman were very nice and friendly, however. Overall, we quite enjoyed the stay. Location close to times square is hard to beat. On the day of checking out, there was a parade on 5th Ave and the hotel's block was used for the parade formation. Needless to say, it was very loud, very crowded and chaotic. Not the hotel's fault but the close proximity to 5th Ave does have the downside.

This was my second stay at this hotel. I am now thinking that next time I will stay elsewhere. I wondered if the management was off the entire time we were there. we stayed in a deluxe room this time but it didn't seem any bigger or better than the superior from last time. We had service issues. There is a sign on the mini bar that it is not a refrigerator and you will be charged if you move anything. So you have to call for ice. The first day it took over 45 minutes. The second day we waited an hour and finally we just headed out. The second day we came and went throughout the day. The room was not made up until quite late and by then they just combined the cleaning with the turndown service. The front desk never greeted us, and most of the time they were not helping anyone. The bellboys may as well have not been there. They were busy most of the time standing outside talking to each other to do anything. We did have one yell "hey" from across the lobby when we came in one night. And the next night we watched a couple struggle with their 4 pieces of luggage while the bell boy sat at the concierge desk. Housekeeping did not do a very good job at replenishing. One day we did not have all of towels and I used the kit with cutips in it and all they did was put the empty packet back in the display. I realize this is not the Four Seasons, but for this level of hotel I still expect more service than what one would get at the Holiday Inn.

I have spoken and shared your feedback with both our front and back of house staff as to the service opportunities we missed during your stay. All guest request items should be completed within 10 minutes and the fact that it took 45 minutes is completely unacceptable.

We pride ourselves on exceeding guests’ expectations and it is troubling to hear what occurred during your stay. It is both the positive and negative feedback that helps us become a better hotel, and I truly feel this is not an accurate representation of the level of hotel that we strive to be. The Iroquois is my favorite hotel in Manhattan. Even though we live in the NYC area, my husband and I have stayed there several times for a weekend “getaway” on our anniversary. The rooms are not huge, but they are tasteful and very comfortable. The staff is always pleasant, accommodating, and helpful. The TV’s have a DVD player, and the front desk has a DVD library from which you can borrow movies for free, if you feel like relaxing. Whenever we request something – from a glass of milk to help with the thermostat – it arrives quickly and courteously. I look forward to going back again!

Room Tip: We chose a Premium King room, because I like a roomy bed and the room was a good size.

In this case, the little package is the boutique hotel - The Iroquois. Steps from the metro, steps from the heart of the theatre district - yet astoundingly quiet, this ultimate comfort yet historic hotel is equipped to care for the most discerning to the most casual of visitors. Not to be missed is the exquisite cocktail and/or dining experience at the Iroquois' Triomphe Restaurant - a feast for the palate and attended to by impeccable and inviting staff. Intent on making sure each guest is cared for, the General Manager of the hotel and restaurant is visible and disarmingly approachable. For an excellent, comfortable and quiet hotel away from the madding crowd yet in the heart of NYC, The Iroquois is our top choice and should be yours as well!

We stayed at the Iroquois for our honeymoon and had a great time. From the moment of arriving the staff couldn't do enough for us. Alex welcomed us warmly on reception and provided us with a great room overlooking the Cryslar Building. Bill the porter was really helpful with his knowledge of the hotel and the surrounding area. He greeted us warmly each time we saw him.

Vanessa on the concierge desk was incredibly helpful. She booked us a car back to the airport but also helped us with our sightseeing activities and told us exactly what we needed to do to be able to travel on the subway and even told us the amount we needed to load onto our travelcards to get us to and back from our destination. She even offered to be our personal sat nav and gave us her direct line in case we got lost whilst out and about or she could help us further. Exceptional service.

The hotel itself is in a great location that enables you to explore the City perfectly. Times Square is just a couple of blocks away.

We've been to NYC 3 or 4 times already so knew where we wanted to be but staying at this boutique hotel added that personal touch we havent had before on previous visits. We will definitely go back

Just got back from another great stay at the Iroquois. We were visiting this time for my son's 13 birthday. I talked to the concierge before our arrival to let them know the occasion. When we arrived everyone seemed to know it was his birthday and there was a box of chocolates and a card waiting for him. Every time we left the doormen would stop us and ask the boys how the trip was going. They made the boys feel special, it was a nice touch! As always, the staff was great, courteous and welcoming. The room was spotless and the beds are ultra comfortable. This is the ONLY place to stay! Centrally located in midtown. Thank you to the staff for making it a special stay for us! Hope to be back soon!

From the moment I called reservations and put in perma-hold - the staff was clueless . I was changed for a no show and asked to stay longer and credit my no show charged toward my extend night. Reservation manager could not figure this out and gave up extra business . Somebody please teach this people customer service and not civil service

Dear coxp42,

I wanted to first thank you for choosing the Iroquois and taking a moment to share your experience. I did want to follow up regarding your situation and I did conduct an investigation as to what had occurred. You did contact the hotel a day after a reservation that you had assumed payment for did not arrive. Our desk agent did speak with you and she stated you originally claimed the flight was cancelled and that was the reason for the person not arriving. Our agent did ask for proof of flight cancellation so we could adjust the charge but you then changed the reason to the person missed the flight.
I am sorry that you feel our reservations staff was incompetent and you did speak to at least 2 agents and the Reservations Manager; all who informed you that this was our policy. You did receive an email conformation stating that cancellations need to be made 48 hours in advance. We did hold the room for your arrival as per the reservation you guaranteed.
I do not feel as if this is an accurate representation in the level of service we provide at the Iroquois as is evident in the other reviews left here by travelers. Our staff simply informed you of our cancellation policy and I do not believe were any less than professional during all interactions with you.
