The Iroquois has an intimate feeling to it; a small staff works hard and multitasks but they seem pretty dedicated and I noticed several familiar faces - including senior managers - since my last visit a couple of years ago, and continuity usually augers well. The small bar and nifty restaurant are a more enjoyable setting for a quiet drink with colleagues or friends than the pricy pretention across the street at the Euro-optimized Royalton or the noisy and touristy Algonquin nearby. Still, when I arrived at the Iroquois, the doorman looked the other way when I said hello, and when I asked if there was a payphone I could use, he had no idea. My room was quite comfortable - clean, well appointed...neither new nor worn - and the electronics were modern and functioned well, but for me - on a business trip - it was one massive hassle to have to suffer through three days during which the wireless Internet didn't work for hours on end. The hotel staff forwarded me to their Internet provider who during an hour on the phone tried to solve the problem, but the outage remained and the result was hours of wasted time - call after call to fix the problem - when I had wanted to work in my room. To their credit, I was not charged for incidentals to compensate for the inconvenience. Still, perhaps this hotel is better suited to New York weekend trip visitors and tourists because I think the business services infrastucture is lacking (e.g. a fax was sent to me marked urgent, but it never arrived in my room). I might return here, but not on a business trip.

We stayed at the Iroquois late July 2009. The hotel rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. Most front-desk staff were very friendly and helpful. However, the room temperature was very warm. Over 4 phone calls had to be placed for help with the air conditioning. You can not change the temp. in your room to suit your needs. Another issue that popped up was that the pre-ordered surprise (cheese and fruit tray) did not come out anything like the picture or description listed by the hotel. That was disappointing as it was a surprise for one of the guests we traveled wih. The hotel told us they were out of cheese and crackers. Disappointing when you are paying over $24 for this service. I would probably try a different hotel before coming back to this one.

We had two nights booked at the Iroquois for July 26-27. We arrived on Saturday night to check in and were told that some pipes had burst in the hotel and they could not accomodate us for the first night of our stay. They had secured a room across the street at the Royalton. The manager explained that we would stay there, then come back in the morning, have a free breakfast and they would upgrade us to a nicer room for the second night of our stay. While this was an inconvenience, I couldn't argue with the reason. The manager explained that he had spent the day scrambling to find available rooms in other hotels. We checked into the Royalton across the street and had a nice evening there. The room was fine, if a little dark. the decor there is more industrial chic than the Iroquois. The next morning, we walked our luggage across the street and checked into the Iroquois. They gave us the James Dean Suite: a huge living room with hardwood floors and lovely furniture. The attached bedroom was very nice. We had a free continental breakfast in their dining room. Throughout our stay, the assistant manager, Antonio, kept asking us how our room was and apologizing for the night before. We felt like royalty! The staff was very friendly, the room was clean and beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We will definitely make it a point to stay at the Iroquois again. They handled a potential disaster with the poise that you would expect for this caliber hotel. Even if they had not upgraded our room, I'm sure I'd be saying the same thing.

The Iroquois lived up to its excellent reputation. The hotel is quite luxurious. Rooms are really well appointed with fantastic showers, very comfortable beds and enough space. Staff are friendly and helpful. It's situated in the heart of Manhattan with everything you would want just a stroll away. In particular you can, within minutes, be at Times Square for shows, dining, picking up a ride on a tour bus. Fifth Avenue shopping starts just round the corner and the Rockefeller Centre, Empire State, Grand Central, St Pat's Cathedral, etc are just a few blocks away. Local buses are good for Central Park and Bryant Park (2 blocks distance) is a great place to have coffee and relax. You can also pick up a Newark Liberty airport bus at corner of Bryant Park and Fifth Avenue.

We stayed July 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. We had an executive King on the 11th floor. The staff was wonderful and polite. The location cannot be beat for walking midtown. We even walked to Central Park twice from the hotel. The bed and room amenities are as good as we have seen anywhere. The free internet was a plus. Many hotels in NY charge 10+ dollars a day for wifi. A lot of people have said the rooms are small....that may be as compared to other regions outside of Manhattan, but it was plenty big enough for us. The diner down the street is a good place to eat. We would definitely stay here again. Parking is in the garage on the right just before you get to the Iroquois, and is about $30 a night if you stay at the hotel. It's about $50 without the hotel validating it. We got a great rate on the room, under 175 a night on Thu, Fri, Sat nights during the 4th.

Stayed there with my husband and 9 year old daughter. We got married while we were out there. Couldn't fault the location and would only stay there again based on that. Rooms were clean but felt the service was below standard. The bell boys and cleaners were really friendly but the reception staff sometimes weren't very much so. Got quite excited hearing about peoples free upgrades and complimentary bottles of wine for birthday etc, but we got nothing, not even a smile whilst waiting for our limo to take us to our wedding ceremony. Rest of the wedding party had to wait two hours when they checked in as their rooms weren't ready and had to wait an hour for some ice, and that only arrived after two more calls down to reception. The room manual said that children get a bubble bath of their choice and a tote bag with colouring things in but we never got either, even though we asked reception twice. As I said, we'd only stayed there again because of the location and if a good deal came up. You don't spend a lot of time in your room to be honest. On a positive - it was nice and quiet, we got some cookies in our room for 2 days in a row and the choccies were nice.

We stayed at the Iroquois a couple of years ago and were very pleased with our stay. We
returned over this Fourth of July weekend, and once again, we had a wonderful
experience. The rooms are lovely, the staff is friendly. They have a nice little gym and
a terrific little low-key bar in the restaurant. We booked two rooms on their website
at a ridiculously low rate. It was all good.
