“Small but elegant”
Reviewed 22 August 2010

Very nice, elegant hotel. Located on a quiet section of 44th street and in walking distace to Times Square. The Hotel is not very big but that adds to the charm and the coziness. We stayed in a deluxe King room on the 7th floor facing a court yard and another building. The room was small but very nicely decorated and very elegant. The bed was very comfortable and gave us a great night sleep. We really enjoyed having the black out shades so we could sleep in as long as we wanted. The room AC did not keep the room as cold as we like but is was comfortable. The bath room is quite small and only has room for one person to get ready, but it has great gold fixtures and classy tile. To be honest the smallness really is not a big deal. The room has a large flat screen TV and DVD player, you can even check out DVDs from the front desk for free. Overall we really enjoyed the room.

The hotel does not have ice machines in the hallway so you have to call room service for a bucket of ice, this was some what of a pain but it is managable. The front desk staff was very friendly and attentive to our needs and the conceriage was the best. We even called them from lower Manhattan to get help finding a bank and they were more than willing to help us out.

Overall we had a great stay and really enjoyed the hotel. Also, if you want coffee in the morning there is a great coffee shop across the street called Gregory's, this will save you a 1-2 block walk to Starbucks and to be honest it was better coffee.

I am so glad I chose this hotel. It is small but they tell you that up front, even so make sure you believe it! That said for an older hotel it is REALLY clean, the staff is very attentive and all are extremely friendly, the room is very up to date. We never heard outside noise while we were in the room or anything in the hallway. My only problem at the hotel was the smell. We were on a non-smoking floor but you could always smell smoke when you stepped off the elevator and in our room. So if you have smoke allergies this isn't the place for you, if you don't then you won't find a better hotel with such an AMAZING location for this price. I will definitely stay there again.

The Iroquois New York was highly recommended to us by a friend and we were certainly not disappointed. With the innumerous hotels in NYC choosing one can be a daunting task. What a fantastic hotel! After a full day of sightseeing, coming back to the Iroquois was such a relief. It was warm, welcoming and unbelievably comfortable. The frette linens, robes, comfortable beds, decor and personable staff made for a wonderful experience.

We have since recommeded The Iroquois to friends who loved it as much as we did. On future trips to NYC we will absolutely stay at The Iroquois! A special thanks to Alex the night manager for helping to make our stay so wonderful.

We stayed at The Iroquois in July 2010, and I have to say that you cannot do better for location or value in NYC. We booked via Expedia and after a lot of searching this was the only 4 star midtown hotel we found within our price range.

After reading the reviews on Trip Advisor, we booked this hotel and it was a fantastic experience. Close to Times Square, Grand Central Station, Macy's, Rockefeller Center, etc. The room was small, but perfect. Absolutely quiet, and of a very high standard. I especially liked the bathroom, and all the little luxuries provided.

I also have to mention the service, really exceptional. I think American service is some of the best I experienced in our round-the-world trip, and The Iroquois would have been some of the best we experienced in the US.

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

We have just returned from 10 days at this hotel, we were in NYC for our honeymoon and the hotel was perfect for us.

The location was amazing... right beween 5th and 6th Ave, a block and a half from Times Square, good location for subways and within walking distance of many of the sights you'll want to see.

We didn't eat in the hotel as it was a bit "posh" for us but the Red Flame Diner which is about 2 minutes away was ideal. Good quality food at a reasonable price considering how close it is to Times Square.

We paid for a "citysights bus tour" from an agent in Times Square ( there are loads of them )which really helped us find our bearings, the $54each is really good value - lasts for 48hrs from purchase and it includes an uptown, a downtown, a brooklyn and a night tour, it also includes free entry to a museum ( can't remember which one ) and a cruise as well. We did all the tours but then used the buses as hop on hop off to see things which were a bit too far to walk.

.
We would definately recommend The Iroquois and would stay there again if we're ever lucky enough to go back!!

I stayed there on 2 occasions in July and August and it is as wonderful as previous times I have stayed there. My arrival was very late around 11.00pm and when enterting my room the lights were on, soft music playing, bed turned back and slippers waiting. What more could you want at that time of the night! It was like coming home. Staff there are always wonderful - many have been there for years. The location of this Hotel is fabulous - so close to Times Square and great shopping on 5th Ave, was also within walking distance to some of my bsiness appointments and an easy walk to Penn Station to catch the train for further appointments. Highly recommend this Hotel too for ladies travelling on their own as always feel very safe here.
