Our first room was terrible - the bed was awful. The next day we asked to be moved and we were accommodated nicely. They even upgraded us from the deluxe room to a suite for our inconvenience. The staff is very nice and helpful. A special shout out to Andrew the Concierge. He did a fabulous job pointing us to great places to eat and setting up our visit to Liberty Island to the Statue of Liberty and to Ellis Island. This could have been an awful experience but the Hotel Edison cares so much about the people staying there that they turned what could have been a disaster into something very positive. Keep in mind though that this is an old hotel so there aren't as many plugs and the rooms are a little smaller than you might be used to. The location cannot be beat. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Check out your bed right away and if it doesn't meet your needs let them know. They will find a...

Although this hotel is a bit dated, it is clean and comfortable and has very polite and helpful staff. Stayed there with another couple in two rooms. Unfortunately they had one which had been updated and ours (on arrival) had someone else staying in it!! We trekked back down to reception and were issued with another one. It was tiny - just enough room to squeeze sideways past the bed to get in it on one side! The bathroom was on the other side of the bed and the bathroom door almost touched it when it was open. No safe in the room - you have to trek down to reception for a safety deposit box - very inconvenient.. However, they did bring a fridge up to the room on request. Then, while we were out getting our first meal, the hotel was evacuated due to a fire in the Edison ballroom! Not a great start all round. Bedding and towels were clean. We had an upgraded flat screen tele installed on our last afternoon by a workman who spent ages trying to fit it into the art deco television cabinet - even with the doors taken off this was impossible. There was nothing the matter with the one that was there originally, but it provided an hours entertainment while we watched him struggle! I wish they had left this until we had checked out - or until they upgraded the room. We were prevented from getting ready to go out for the evening by him being there.
We would go to the Edison again, but would ensure we had upgraded rooms or a suite. Although it is dated, it is a great location and convenient for everything.

Room Tip: Ask for one which has been renovated, or upgrade to a suite.

We stayed at this hotel for four nights and have to say on the whole it was very good the location was fantastic a 1 min walk from Times Square the room was a little small but very clean regular room service and a good size bathroom perfect for what we wanted, you could upgrade if you wanted to anyway very helpfull staff and a safety box downstairs if you wanted which is free. The only negative for us was the baggage staff watched us drag our bags and suitcases to the taxi without helping but I as all the other staff where so helpfull I feel this was not a common thing still a pity though, would I go back to the Edison again yes I would hopfully next year.

The Edison is between 46th and 47th and Broadway. We walked 1/2 block every day to stand in line for half price tickets to Broadway shows. The rooms are fine except a very small bathroom. The people who work there are very helpful and very kind. It is a very safe hotel as they check keys before you can go up to your room. The cafe next to the hotel has good food and the deli next to the cafe has all different kinds of cold and hot food. Just a perfect location to shop, see broadway shows or just wander the streets.

Room Tip: We stayed on 17th floor and heard no noise at night and slept great. Close the curtains as the neon...

Great art deco hotel, 2 minutes walk to the half price ticket booth in Times Square. Rooms are comfortable, two big soft queen beds but a very small bathroom.

Very busy, older clientele, not the place for young clubbers or partygoers.

Adjoining Italian restaurant good for a meal after a show. Small diner attached which serves quick meals and s reasonably priced.

Can be a little noisy from 47th street below, (we were on the 8th floor).

Overall a good place to stay in New York if Broadway is your thing.

Room Tip: Probably go for a room as high as possible.
