I stayed at this hotel in June for four nights.
They hotel gave us a free upgrade when our original room was not quite what I was expecting.
The hotel staff was very accommodating and the hotel was very well located and easy walking distance to everything I wanted to do.

My husband and I stayed here for almost two weeks on our trip to New York. This was cheaper than most hotels in the area, but we could feel the savings. Our room really needed to be renovated. The carpet was buckling so bad we almost tripped on it, the bed was creaky and wobbly, and there were marks all over the walls. The room was very small, but that seems like a NY thing so wasn't a big issue.

The shower was pretty terrible because it never stayed the same temperature. You were either freezing or being burned (moments apart). The only solution was to shower in the middle of the afternoon when no one else was using water.

The room was quite loud being so close to Times Square, but the darkening curtains really helped shut out some of the noise. If you are a light sleeper and staying on the weekend, I recommend ear plugs as the hotel is about a block from the fire station and you hear sirens ALL night.

Negatives aside, the staff was very nice and the lobby was gorgeous with its art deco style. Every night you could hear jazz music coming in from the bar. Twice a week they have a free wine and cheese event for guests.

The location was PHENOMENAL. The hotel is around the corner from Times Square and next to the subway line that takes you along Central Park. It's a maximum 30 minute walk to all of the nearby art galleries and museums, and just a couple minutes to any Broadway show. We only took one cab during our whole stay.

Room Tip: If you can afford it, choose one of the newer rooms.

My mom and I stayed here for one night this past Saturday. We were with a big group from her work, so we received a discounted rate. This hotel has been renovated, but there are definitely signs of age in the individual rooms. For a quick overnight trip this hotel fit the bill. It was a great location, if you're looking to be in the heart of Times Square. We even went to the Rum House bar attached to the hotel and enjoyed a cocktail and some live music.

The worst part of the stay was the rock hard mattresses. They definitely don't want you to get too comfortable. All in all the room was fine, nothing fancy, but it was clean. We didn't really interact with the hotel staff that much, so I can't speak to that. It was a little noisy, but we were so tired from a long day of walking and sightseeing that we both fell right asleep.

We stayed here for seven nights at the end of a five week trip through the US so suffered room shock with our first room as they are small and we didn't have enough space for our luggage. The staff were very accommodating and found us a bigger room that night and the following night an even bigger room on the corner that had a view of the Hudson and thru to 45th. All the rooms we saw were renovated. The room we had provided a comfortable nights sleep and clean renovated facilities. The biggest positive to this hotel is its proximity to Times Square, theaters and the subway which made it easy to always be out. A great value option if you don't plan to spend the trip in your room.

We stayed in the hotel for 7 nights earlier this month and were very pleased with the hotel itself and the service. Our room was on the top (22nd) floor and had a view over the rooftops. It was one of the newly refurbed Signature rooms and was beautifully clean and comfortable and very spacious for New York hotel. The staff were helpful and I was particularly pleased with the little shop which franked my postcards for me. The air-conditioning was very efficient if a bit noisy.
The hotel has a cocktail bar, The Rum House, which had a live 20s jazz band one night who were great fun. There is also an on-site diner which we went to three times for breakfast with varying results. The first day breakfast was excellent especially my banana and walnut pancakes and the server very good. Another day it was average and on the third occasion the cashier was down-right rude, the service was awful, my omelette horrible and the people next to us shouted and when they dared to point out that after asking 4 times their toast still hadn't arrived. The hotel is in an excellent position, one block from Times Square and bang in the centre of all the theatres with so many excellent restaurants all around. I would deftly stay there again but go out for breakfast.

Room Tip: The signature rooms seem to be far superior.

Stayed in the Edison on honeymoon. £150 a night is okay for NY hotel. Good location and had signature room which was nice and clean. Would recommend others to stay as in great location in theatre district and ideal for all major attractions. Great wee dina at end of the street and good Irish bar close by too!

We arrived in New York for ten nights when we got to the hotel we were hit with a $250 deposit ($25 per night ) which the hotel doesn't advertise on expedia, and also welcomed by rude staff which were not helpful and don't speak two words if they can help it, giving customers horrible looks behind there back which is unprofessional , the transportation desk are rude also , when you ask questions they look at you stupid like you should know New York and how it works . The cleaners were the nicest people and made our room clean and tidy every day . All in all I would not recommend this hotel unless you want to be spoken to like dirt. Customer service courses needed !
