“Great hotel in the heart of Manhattan”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

Our three night stay in NYC was totally enhanced by our stay at the Blakely. The room was more than comfortable. The location was perfect. Most important the staff in toto was great. Everyone went out of their to meet all our needs and answer all our questions. I would not hestitate for a millisecond in staying there again.

Stayed for 4 nights in May, on the 4th floor. Excellent hotel for someone wanting to feel the city's vibe - walk to Central Park or an evening show off Times Square - quick access to the subway. There was great street food on 53rd for those on a budget. Breakfast would have been better with some meat, but they did say 'continental'. Our room was comfortable, but the bedroom walls are thin.

This hotel was a great little gem in Midtown. Clean rooms, nice bathrooms. The hotel was steps away from a subway entrance, which was super convenient. It was a very small hotel (lobby, rooms, bathrooms, hallways, elevator), but quaint and cute. Housekeeping wasn't very consistent, not always remembering to replace our coffee mugs/bar ware. But, I'd stay there again. Pleasant experience.

Stay here two nights early May. Room and location were great, skip the continental breakfast, the worst. This hotel would rate 5 stars if breakfast and restaurant service were better at this upscale hotel.

We bought a king suite on Travelzoo at a great price and had a very spacious, comfortable suite. The location could not have been better, as it was so central to everything we did. We took the subway to Battery a Park, walked to 9/11, visited Rockefeller center and walked on the east side of Central Park to the Guggenheim museum one day and the Dakota on the west side of Central Park the next

We just returned from a 4 night stay at the Blakely. We had a king suite overlooking the street. I had requested an accessible room, having recently had knee replacement surgery, but there was a mix up and I did not get it. To accommodate my needs, the engineer installed grab bars in the shower and by the toilet. We also received a delicious cheese platter with good wishes from the management, a very thoughtful gesture. As others have noted, the rooms are a bit dated, but large and spacious with comfortable beds and furniture, and other amenities. There are even plates and cutlery in the mini-kitchen. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Blakely and are deeply appreciative of all they did for us.

My daughter and I stayed here for 3 nights in early April. We had a one bedroom suite, which was spacious, although quite dark (the living area is an interior space with no windows). The dark wood decor and dark wood trim makes the room feel more dark than it would if a brighter color palette was used. As mentioned by previous reviewers, the bathroom lighting is very dim and made worse by a great deal of dark marble surfaces.

The room was a bit shabby and the furniture nicked up and the upholstery worn. Elevators are slow. We had breakfast in the hotel only one day - it's fine, nothing special.

Several months back, I posted a review of the WestHouse hotel, which is just down the street from the Blakely. That hotel is all new and very high-end and the current room rates are the same as those at the Blakely. The WestHouse is a MUCH nicer hotel, and a better option in this neighborhood.

Great location, clean comfortable and large room (stayed in a king suite). Great stay...and much less expensive than other hotels in the area. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in midtown. Location is right between Central Park south and Times Square!!
