You are booking a room in a hotel in one of the greatest if not the greatest mega cities on earth. The Gran Hyatt NY is located at the center of the center of the center of the world. One of the exits from the lobby leads into Grand Central where you can get to almost anywhere imaginable, Subway, Commuter Rail and other attractions are located in Grand Central.

Midtown east/Grand Central where the Hyatt is located is top of the list for NYC attractions, restaurants, bars and other areas of Manhattan and the NYC metropolitan area are easily accessible by Taxi, Subway or Bus. Security and safety are the same for any major city and you should not worry about the location as during the UN General Assembly the Hyatt hosts many world leaders and dignitaries, furthermore the location makes a key security area full of Federal and Local law enforcement year round.

The service is excellent but pricey and expect to pay for anything extra that may not have been included.

You get what you pay for, the more you pay the more glamorous and fulfilling your stay will be.

Room Tip: Take advantage of all the services that this hotel has to offer for free as NYC can be an expensive...

Green Features: The lights are always on in the Lobby and the halls, but that cant be avoided. There are signs advising guests to conserve water so that is a plus.

Although this hotel doesn't have a pool (something important to me), its location, location, location!
It's the best place for me while in Manhattan - Midtown, east side.
Good for meetings and good for food.
I got a high floor, so it was quiet, even though this is the Hyatt in Manhattan.
I would have liked the AC to be a little stronger, but not enough to complain about (NY wasn't at its humid worst....)

Room Tip: request a high floor, otherwise, NY is noisy and the Hyatt is a busy hotel.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Hyatt. We were visiting NYC for a friends wedding! The service upon checkin was quick and friendly. We were told to come back for our room and check out bags. We asked what the hotel had to offer and we were told a few things. Unfortunately we didn't find out about the bar on the 16th floor until the last night of our stay. We called to see what time they close and it was already closed. we weren't too thrilled about that. Once we got to our room we were quite impressed by the cleanliness and hands free technology the room offered. We were not however pleased with the size of the bathroom. No tub and very tight. My husband is a big guy and had trouble manoeuvring about in there. That would be my one complaint. The hotel was lively and in a wonderful location with lots to do right out of the doors. This hotel was nice and clean but did not surpass any expectations I might have had. It was a great stay in an average hotel. Overall can not complain!

We had read some negative reports on Tripadvisor and did wonder if our stay at this hotel would be OK - it was fine. The rooms were a decent size, large TV, large bedroom & large bathroom with enough toiletries to cover our 5 day stay. We asked them for a coffee maker and they brought it up within 10 mins. Either take some of your own tea & coffee or just keep asking them to replace the drinks. The lifts were fast - the higher up you are the better and try to get a room away from the lifts.
You do have to ask for things but they will supply you with your requests.
The breakfast is very expensive, so try Blooms an American dinner just round the corner. The marketplace is expensive too - try the market in the grand central.
We left our luggage with the hotel on the last day and the charge was just $3 per case - you can ask for a late check out too if you need too.
Location was great - you can walk to so many places and it's easy to find your way round NY.

We stayed here for a few days earlier this month. The hotel has everything you need and I really liked the market restaurant concept - you can pick up good healthy foods from the little market store/restaurant in the lobby and go. Breakfast at the restaurant hotel was ok but not too impressive. The hollandaise sauce on the eggs Benedict left a lot to be desired. The whole meal was greasy.
Rooms are nice, if you are lucky you can get a room with a view.
Location is fantastic, right across from Grand Central. Walking distance everywhere, lots of midtown points of attraction in the area.
Recommended for a quick stay in NYC if you want to be in the heart of everything.

One minus: the service was not the greatest. Had to wait for a blanket for over an hour. Also, the bathroom was not well supplied in terms of shampoo/conditioner, etc.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view in advance.

Green Features: The hotel could make recycling bins available, lots of people shop in New York so they have a lot of carton/paper/bags to throw out.

I recently visited this hotel for a dance competition my sister was attending. This was my 2nd trip to NYC, but my first time staying at the Hyatt. When we arrived the people that were taking the luggage off the bus were very rough with it just throwing it on top of each other, even though there were items marked fragile, thankfully all was ok! Once we made it to our rooms we found the room to be very spacious for a New York hotel room and we were quite pleased. It wasn't until the morning were we realized that we had to run the shower for 5-10min just to get hot water. When we returned from our day of exploring house keeping had arrived and made the beds but thats about it, they took our dirty towels but didn't replace them with new fresh ones, they didn't replace our dirty glasses and they didn't vacuum the floor. We called the front desk and they offered to send someone to clean it while we went out for supper so that worked out great! Even though being right in front of 42nd Street the rooms were very quite and there wasn't much noise from the hall despite lots of girls playing in the hallways. All in all, the hotels were clean for the most part, staff was mostly friendly and the hotel had a great atmosphere.

Room Tip: Become a Hyatt gold member, you're able to get free coffee/tea/water cards, a coffee maker in yo...

This is by far one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in. The staff is amazing!!! Join their loyalty program to get the standard wifi free. They did everything to accommodate my request of a room on a higher floor, with a view and away from the elevator! Our room was perfect! Its a busy lobby, but that's fine because you expect that in NYC. The elevators were quick and you just come and go as you please. The doormen were super nice and helpful too! Restaurants a little pricey, so go elsewhere to eat if you are on a budget. We will stay here every time we come back to NYC!!!

Room Tip: Use the pedicabs to get around. They are a little more expensive, but really worth it and you are s...
