Very, Very friendly and luxurious weekend in New York. They seem to go out of their way to make sure we had all and everything we could desire. The staff seemed honestly concerned with the fact that we would truly enjoy our weekend in New York. We arrived at 7:00 AM and they smiled and said "Absolutely" when we asked for early baggage check-in so that we could see the sights without the load. Excellent location. Beautiful view. Very quiet. We would stay here again in a New York Heart Beat!

Spend Saturday/Sunday night there for a conference. A half hour wait for checkin. Rooms are ok but nothing special. Hot water was sparse. Elevators took forever. Escalators down were broken and staff wasn't particularly friendly or helpful.

For the price - even in Manhattan - it's not worth it. The location is great - walking out right into Times Square - but I wouldn't stay here again. Much prefer the hilton - or even the New Yorker - or one of the boutique hotels. I guess that's what I get for booking late.

Room Tip: get a higher floor - view's all right on either side.

Dear canadianamigos,

Thank you for writing your review. I am very sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay.
Thirty minutes to check in is not acceptable and I apologize that it took so long.
Our elevators definitely can be slower on the weekends due to our higher leisure and business travelers as well as conferences. I sincerely hope that you give us another chance in the future, so we can show you how great our hotel can be. Once again thank you for your review, hope to see you again.

Friday and Saturday night stay with my husband and 13 year old step daughter was fantastic. Very nice place. All staff were very friendly, helpful and courteous. Definetly, Service with a Smile. Breakfast for priority club members was wonderful! I was worried the Times Square location would be loud - but it was very very peaceful. Excellent place - we would stay here again. Thank you Crown Plaza Times Square!

Room Tip: Broadway views are great fun!

I had the best time of my life at the sleepless part of New York City--Time Square. Crown Plaza Hotel has wonderful accommodations and top notch customer service. Everyone made us feel so comfortable and special. I went with my two nieces that were visiting the US for the first time and I took them to visit this special part of New York City Time Square. The hotel has the convenient location to explore the intriguing and exciting Time Square and the main landmarks in NYC. I felt safe and this time of the year (Monday thru Wednesday) was a good time to go. Not too many turists and we are able to enjoy the main landmarks with no lines and not many people.

Also, I wanted to give special thanks to Hector Isaza, Doorman, and bar attenders Martin Rojas and Marco de Leon. They were superb! Customer service at its best.

Plus a great breakfast buffet (orange juice was so good). Nothing to complaint....no noise, comfortable rooms and exciting way to explore the area. All of these Priceless!

In summary, best time and wonderful memories spent at this place and of course New York City. Thank you for making my dream trip special and unforgettable.

Room Tip: I was in the 15th floor and I did not hear anything. It was nice.

I was recently at this hotel on a business trip and was pleasantly surprised to find it very clean, quiet (upper floors) and nicely decorated. With it's times square location I did not expect the quality that it offered. The rooms are well decorated, well lit and comfortable. The staff offered good, friendly service. While the internet is not free, the connection was good. The bathroom was much larger than many New York hotels. It's convenient for theatre and while in the very noisy times square, it has doormen and staff to keep guests safe. Overall, a pleasant surprise and I'd recommend it.

Room Tip: get a high floor to avoid street noise

We couldn't have asked for a better location - central to anything you want to walk to: theatre, great restaurants, shopping and sites. The hotel is clean and the staff fairly friendly, but there is no mini fridge in the room which means you can take a doggy bag home from that fabulous restaurant or store medications that need refrigeration. WiFi is not free in the rooms - why? And there's a charge to use the in-room safe...really? Who charges for a safe????? Still, the beds were comfy and quiet. The constant noise from Times Square could not be heard in the room.

Thank you for your review. I happy to read you enjoyed your stay and found our location ideal. I just wanted to clarify that the hotel does not charge for in-room safe usage. The credit card swipe is merely a means of identification and is not charged. I do apologize this was not clear. If you visit again, mini-refrigerators can be arranged for a fee. We do hope we have the chance to welcome you soon.

This was our first trip to New York & we chose 5 nights at The Crowne Plaza, Times Square - it was ideal. Its a must to stay in Times Square as it is the centre of Manhattan where everything happens & this hotel was ideal. Bear in mind Manhattan is an island so getting to & from Times Square can be a hassle.
We liaised by email with the hotel Customer Services (Emily) before arriving & she ensured everything was perfect on arrival. We upgraded & paid for Concierge level & got a high level corner room at no extra cost. The Concierge service also includes breakfast from 6.30am to 10am, free Internet, free gym & swimming pool facilities, etc. all of which make it cheap if you have to pay out additional cost for each of these facilities.
Few other tips for the new visitors to NY.
Coach/Bus Tours do not normally include entry to the Tourists venues & do not wait for you to go in. Our 5hr+ tour included a 1hr boat trip around the Statue of Liberty but we only saw 9/11, Empire State Building, etc., from the outside. Understandable when each venue can take 2hrs+ queuing.
Take a Taxi to 9/11 it costs $18 from Times square for upto 4 people. The subway is $4 pp each way but is crowded & dirty. You must obtain a Pass for 9/11 which can be pre-booked free on-line & printed off. Otherwise you must collect it from an office 5/10mins from 9/11 entrance. The 9/11 museum is still under construction so the 2 waterfalls are the only exhibit. Its free so why not. The time is pre-booked so no queues.
From 9/11 walk to Wall St & see the financial district. Then go to Pier 17 where a New York Taxi Ferry will take you around the Statue of Liberty. Limited access to the Island as construction is taking place. The main ferry around the S of L is too big & overcrowded. Pier 17 has a great shopping area including Abercrombie & Fitch & Superdry & they are not busy. The stores on 5th Avenue are massively overcrowded.
Instead of massive queues to go up the Empire State Building which is near to Times Sq. try the Rockafella Tower which is cheaper, has no queues & has better views including the Empire State Building. Macys is at the end of Times Sq. but we found the stock to be old fashion & getting around the store can be confusing as there are few Customer Service Staff or floor information. Apart from Pier 17, Greenwich Village is good shopping.
We did a Broadway Musical, Chicago & was very disappointed. There was no stage props or settings. The black outdated stage was dominated by the band with performers sitting on the side in full view waiting to perform. The only recognisable song was 'All That Jazz'. They didn't even sing Chicargo. We were ready to leave at the interval. Beware of Theatre prices. We got premium seats for $99 each from the Theatre Booking Office. The hotel & ticket touts were selling the same seats for $169. You can get them cheaper on the day if you want to que for a bucket seat either outside the Theatre or in Times Sq. All the Theatres are yards away from Times Sq.
We ate at most of the chain restaurants. Hard Rock Cafe, Planet Hollywood, Bubba Shrimp & more. These for us were the better options. We tried a self service buffet paying $7.5 per lb weight on the plate. Food was overcooked & not good.
We had a bad experience at Patsy's Restaurant. It was recommended as an upmarket NY dining experience. The dress was smart casual but some diners were in jeans & trainers. We were in & out within 40mins having a 3 course a la carte meal at a cost of $169 & thats with a lemonade & a glass of wine + only one dessert. The food was pre-cooked, the starter & main course was in the same sauce & the dessert was inedible - a thick pastry with a thin layer of apple covered in a gelatine. Bad experience - stay clear.
Finally getting to & from the airport - go by Yellow Cab. The fare is fixed at $45 but with road toll & tax its $55 incl. tip for upto 4 people anywhere from JFK to Manhattan Hotel & the same returning.
