I stayed here for two nights (earlier than june 2013, bit late with the review) after having spent an earlier night at a boutique hotel in Manhattan. Room was very spacious, the staff were super friendly, and the location is simply the best you can get. Smack dab in the middle of Times Square. Can not get more central than this.
My room was excellent: clean, comfortable & quiet.
Ask the concierge for help if you need theatre tickets or so, he'll not only help you, but even get you a great discount!
On my next visit to New York i'm definitely staying here again!

Stayed here for 3 nights right after Memorial weekend - for my husband and I, it was the perfect location. Obviously centrally located in Times Square (so it is very busy) but so convenient to walk to any of the Broadway Shows (Book of Mormon and Chicago was literally around the corner and Wicked was 1 block away). 1 block away from 8th Avenue which also has lots of restaurants/pubs/bakeries/pizza.

We took the double decker bus tours and the stop was 1/2 block away from the hotel so again, super convenient. We did have a car that we valet parked - expensive ($50 per day) and it's cash only to a 3rd party (cannot add to hotel bill).

Hotel room was clean and spacious - lots of counter space in the bathroom and shower pressure was very good. Hallways were not super long so it's not a hard walk from elevator to room.

Ate at the lobby bar the first night which overlooks Times Square - decent food and prices. Otherwise, didn't eat at the hotel as there are so many other choices in the area.

Price was indicative of location ($230-$270) and I would stay here again next time I'm back in NYC.

I stayed here with my sisters this week, and overall its a good hotel. It is in need of some serious TLC. The bathrooms were a little shabby - it kind of looks like they took some shortcuts on their renovations to make it look nice. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing that would deter me from staying here again, but a good solid clean and some quick fixes wouldn't hurt. My BIGGEST complaint is that there was no WiFi in the room. Can someone tell me how it makes sense to give unlimited free access to the lobby of the hotel, yet once you're in your room that you paid for - you have to pay to have WiFi? Probably the most absurd thing I've ever heard. If I was going back to NYC I'd go to the CP just to use their free WiFi in the lobby - because who wouldn't! Tell all your friends, its a free hotspot!

This was my second time in NYC, first time staying right in Times. I wouldn't do that again. You are literally bombarded everyday by people on the streets trying to sell you their hop-on-hop-off tour, or their own music, whatever it may be it's very unwelcoming. Be prepared for it as soon as you open the door.

The staff were mostly friendly, we didn't have any problems. For the amount of money we paid, I'm not sure it was really worth it. But you're in NYC and right in Times Square - it's really just to rest your head and go for the next day.

Room Tip: We didn't have a Times Square view, and didn't have any noise bothering us. Slept like babies.

Thank you for the review. It saddens us that we did not provide a superb experience and we are working on our appearance to make sure that we provide a memorable experience for all of our guests. We are currently undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation and there will be many changes to the hotel! We would like to change your opinion from good to great and hope that you will stay with us again. Thank you for choosing the Crowne Plaza Times Square.

Stayed in April for 4 nights with my Mum and used it purely as a base to explore NYC. Our room was clean, tidy, quiet and serviced every day. Beds very comfortable and amazing views. Ate once in the bar and the food/drink (club sandwiches and a couple of cocktails) was very good. Staff pleasant and well mannered but all very impersonal. Ok it's a big soul-less corporate hotel but if you're booking to stay here you probably know that already. You don't stay here to be charmed by the amenities and personal service, you stay here for the location which is just brilliant right on Times Square. Tip - the breakfast is expensive and always very busy, there's a great Starbucks on the corner and loads of places to eat out in the immediate locality so save your money and some of your time because there's much better nearby. If you want to be right in the centre of it & aren't looking to spend a lot time in your hotel, then I wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying here.

Thank you for the review Sara! We are sad to read that our service was impersonal. That is definietly not the image we we to project. Regardless of our size, we should still be able to provide top service to all of our guests and that is what we strive for. Aside from that, we are glad to see that you were able to enjoy our location, restaurant and rooms. If you travel to New York City again, please inform us! We would love for you to stay with us again.

First time in New York. Room on the 31st floor overlooking Times Square! Great views and surprisingly quiet, even the air con, which was very efficient. The furnishings are tired and the room is definitely in need of a refurb, particularly the bathroom. Both faucets, sink and shower, leaked and moved when used, plugs didn't work.Bath was scratched, shower head spluttered instead of flowing, whole unit turned around on the wall when you tried to turn the shower on! However, when I complained, they did offer a room change, which we declined as it was too much effort for our short stay. They did fix things quickly, still not great, but fixed, and they gave us a complimentary grab and go breakfast so better than nothing! Internet access is free if you are an IHG member, and download speed is good. Celebrating a birthday, lovely tray with wine, water, popcorn, nuts and biscuits in our room when we returned from sightseeing the first day. Nice gesture. The location is excellent for theatres, shopping, Central Park, Rockefeller Centre etc, particularly if you want to walk, as traffic is very heavy, and it's quicker to do that than ride. Very helpful staff. Busy busy hotel but we would stay again.

Room Tip: High floor, overlooking Times Square.
