“Brilliant!”
Reviewed 21 September 2012

Me and my boyfriend stayed at the Jolly Madison Towers hotel in a Deluxe room for 7 nights and we couldn't have wished for better. Our flight to New York landed early, and we got to the hotel around 1 o clock. although check in time was 2pm, the staff let us go to our room early. They were very friendly when we arrived, asking about our flight and telling us about all of the different things to do and see. They phoned us once during the week to ask us if we needed any help with any booking or anything, and to make sure we were enjoying our stay, which was wonderful. The room was beautiful and clean, much better than I expected after reading some reviews. Definitely worth the money we paid.
The hotel is in a brilliant location, a 5 minutes walk from times square and 15 minutes walk from central park, so couldn't ask for better location, and near to lots of places to eat.
The staff were friendly when we were leaving, asking if we enjoyed our stay and helping us with our cases to our taxi.
Couldn't have asked for a better stay!

I stayed at the Jolly Madison Towers in February 2012 for 6days with my boyfriend.
We went to New York for the typical sight seeing, shopping, lively and busy holiday.
The Jolly Madison is a really lovely hotel, it is in a great location, we walked to Grand Central Station which is a 10 minute walk. You could walk to Times square whihc is a 15minute walk and 5th Avenue which is a 10minute walk, so it really is a good location for everything.

The rooms are very spacious, we had a king size bed which was really nice, it was very clean and tidy in our room. We had the room cleaned every day, and they changed the sheets every other day, you can put the door sign on whether you want your room cleaned or not.
The bathroom was really clean, and really modern and lovely with marble floor and tiles. We had clean towels everyday which was amazing.

We found the hotel staff very helpful, in telling us info about New York, taxi's, booking things up. When we checked out we were able to leave our suitcases in a store room in the reception that the porter did for us so we were very assured they would be safe as we had a late afternoon flight.

We booked through BA and got a very good deal with flights and hotel so I would say it was very cheap.

I would definately stay here again and reccomend to anyone.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the Empire State Building, we had a room with this view and was amazing to look at...

My experience with the Jolly Madison Towers hotel in NY was very poor.
I have to say I have never met a crew that is so unwilling to help a guest, and was so rude. If this trip was not paid by my company I would have demanded my money back. Not that I would stay there...
Also, the room was small, not very clean, the corridors smell damp and smokey.
The only reason to stay in this hotel is if you only speak Italian or Spanish and no English, but in that case you are not reading this review...
I would not recommend this place to anyone.

This hotel is in a great location within easy walking distance of the Empire State Building, Grand Central Station, Times Square, Broadway and the 5th Avenue shops. The location is in fact the best thing about what is an average tourist hotel. The lobby and reception area are fairly nondescript and the rooms even more so. It really has no character at all and seems to be generally in need of redecoration. Our 9th floor room was at the back so we did not suffer from traffic noise but we could not see the sky due to the surrounding buildings and the air conditioning unts outside the room were very noisy indeed. We would not have been able to sleep with the air conditioning on. The room had a queen bed but not a lot of space although the wardrobe was large. The hotel is Italian owned and managed and there were a lot of Italian guests. The reception staff were generally indifferent and seemed to view you with suspicion as you approached the desk, as if they were expecting another complaint about something. The only employee wo seemed to enjoy his job or want to interact with the guests was one of the Bellmen, Jose, who is a real character. If you want somewhere to sleep in a great location then this is fine but if you spend more time in the hotel then its probably not for you.

Stayed 4 nights at this hotel in Sept 2012. Perfect location - only 5 mins walk from Grand Central Station. Noisey due to the central location (traffic/air con fans outside/ general hum of the city) but hey what do you expect in the middle of Manhatten - nothing some cheap foam ear plugs couldnt deal with. The room was old fashioned and tired - not a problem though because you dont visit NY to stay in your room! The beds were clean and very comfy. We were in a larger room than our friends so we had 2 double beds - which was great because it was so hot - so cooler to sleep separate. Good maid service - room clean and fresh each day. We didnt have breakfast included but ordered room service each morning for tea/coffee. This was perfect - good english breakfast tea (Twinnings) - although it was expensive. Friendly door staff - who will store your luggage for a tip! Good diner just across the road called "Moonstruck" - do a great choice for breakfast. I would use this hotel again. I would love to stay in a "posh" hotel but havent got that kind of money.

Room Tip: Our room was a "Guest Room" but larger than our friends - so request 2 double beds to get...

Lobby was clean, check-in was quick and easy, staff was helpful. Our room was one of the older ones. Pretty simple....king size bed, two nightstands, desk, TV. All the in-room amenities one would expect (iron, mini-bar, hairdryer). Bathroom was clean and seemed newer than the rest of the room. Good water pressure and heat. The view from the room was pretty lousy -- looked out onto a brick wall, but we didn't spend much time indoors anyway. A couple of good restaurants nearby. We booked our trip through an online service and paid $699 for four nights....pretty good rate for the area! Would definitely stay there again.

This hotel is very very good for the location (5min walk from Grand Central, 7th Avenue); it's one of the few hotel still having breakfast included into the room rate (maybe because this is a former italian chain hotel) and the bathroom is all decorated with marbles and very clean; the real "negative" point is due to the air conditioner: we stayed there 4 days in Aug 2012 and NY was like a oven and the air conditioner in the room, an old type, was very VERY noisy; apart from this, maybe the fornitures could be renewed cos they clearly are directly from 80's, but at the end this is not a real problem.
