“Nice Overnight Accomodations”
Reviewed 29 December 2013

This was a very nice hotel for an overnight stay in December 2013. Upon arrival, there were several bellhops and valet's waiting to help with bags. The only drawback was that we were not 'allowed' to push the baggage cart with our bags, so we ended up carrying up our bags to the room to avoid waiting for a second bellhop to bring our bags up.

The room was very clean, bed was comfortable and the thermostat adjusted quickly to warm/cool the room. We also used the valet service which promptly brought our car once we were ready to leave.

A pleasant surprise was the holiday festivities, including an elf and "The Grinch" in the lobby handing out hot chocolate and hot cider. Overall, I would stay in this hotel again and recommend it to others.

Having stayed in hotels around the world this was by far the worst experience. Our credit card was over charged by $2500, we were told we could not have the room booked and charged various amounts and not the flat rate booked and concierge was not interested in assisting in gaining tickets for attractions. The manager eventually sorted our overcharge but have to wait up to a week for refunds. Great location and rooms but that is all. The first Marriott Hotel I have had a bad experience.

We stayed here Dec 21-Dec 26, 2013. Overall it is a very nice hotel. Our room was clean and the Marriott beds are really comfortable. Location is great for shopping, getting to subways, restaurants. Staff is friendly and courteous. Especiailly the housekeeping staff, who took great care of us during our 6 days. Also the Irish bellman (sorry, didn't get his name) who stored our luggage on the last day and made sure our limo knew we were waiting for others in our party. Only problem we had was our original room. I booked an ADA room in a quiet area of the hotel and our first room was RIGHT behind the elevators and was not ADA. ALWAYS call the hotel after booking online and make sure the understand you do not want to be behind the elevator as it is about as loud as the L train to Brooklyn!!!

Room Tip: We had a corner room with 3 windows which was great.

Travelling with 3 teenagers and their forty something mother. The junior suite was just manageable for 5 but this is New York. Valet parking for the car was busy and there was a wait. I left my handphone in the car and managed to retrieve it with the help of the helpful valet. House cleaning were friendly and helpful. Hotel is busy. Check out is fast if you manage your own lugage and get ready before you retrieve the car.

Room Tip: The junior suite is great more so when you can get it during special discount periods.

The hotel was what we expected for the rooms we booked, we got a corner room which for NYC was pretty large. The rooms were cool and comfortable, a little loud at times but hey its New York, if you want peace and quiet go to the country. The staff was very accommodating, we had booked 2 rooms and one of the couples traveling with us backed out last minute and the hotel was great to accommodate us last minute in comping a room, really saved us all some good money. The only aspect of the Marriott east side I would have to complain about was the bar... It was over priced for no good reason some mixd drinks hit close to $30, and I know hotel bars are always a sink but never had I seen one this bad, one of our friends had a glass of wine that the waiter spilled all over the table. The glass was $15 and he didn't offer a refill, a comp, nothing, he barely brought the napkins. Not to mention we waited over 15 minutes for our "super premium" drinks that left the pallet wanting... Over all would stay here again but would not stop in at the bar.

Had not stayed at this hotel since 2000 or 2001. Loved the location due to being near my Madison, Park and 5th Ave favorite shopping stores. Hotel was slightly renovated and room was clean and comfortable but even for the city the bathroom size was totally unacceptable. Get rid of the bath tubs and replace with small standing showers. Only stayed for 1 night due to husband and I meeting family visiting. We had late night drinks at the bar which was WAY to pricey $70 for 4 drinks was crazy and also to have the bartender yell across the room that we had to come get our own drinks and he was closing soon.

Was surprised to walk into a lobby that was basically none existent. No couches, chairs, tables etc. where is a weary traveller to plop down? Well, at the adjacent bar so they can sell you a drink. The bellhop service was bored and lackluster. Front desk was businesslike but not friendly.

You ascend to your room in a tiny, I mean tiny elevator. The good news is that your room is not tiny. Very well sized for NYC. But don't expect to get alate night cocktail or even food here as it closes down early. Bath amenities are skimpy but free in room coffee. Annoying to have to pay for internet access.

Room Tip: Had a no view room overlooking a courtyard but it was very quite
