Reviewed 11 January 2014

The Hotel is situated 50 meters from the 9/11 Memorial exit (and obviously close to the entrance as well) Near Battery Park and Rector Street Metro station.

It has all the facilities you would expect from a hotel of this standard, clean, good rooms, a Starbucks and a burger restaurant as well. For breakfast/brunch go to George's on Rector Street and take the Metro into town afterwards or walk as you please.

A room with river view might get you the Goddess of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge a town view will get you the new Liberty Tower. River view recommended

Room Tip: River View if you can

Thank you for your feedback. I am happy to see that you enjoyed your stay. George’s is a terrific place to have breakfast. The hotel has river views as well as views of the Statute of Liberty. Unfortunately you cannot see the Brooklyn Bridge from the hotel.

Hope to see you again!

Aileen

A really good location, close to the subways which makes getting around very easy.

Rooms pretty good, and very good service from front desk..

BUT!!!!!

We had room 1805, I challenge anyone to get an hours sleep as it's opposite the elevators and a door which I think is part of the operation of the elevators, every 30 seconds you hear a terrific THUNK.. This goes on all day and all night, this after 5/6 hours is intolerable

Thank you for your feedback. I am so sorry to hear about your night’s sleep. I understand how hard it is to get a good night’s sleep especially when you are away from home. I have my engineering department following up on that matter.

We hope to see you in the future when we could provide you with a quieter room.

Aileen

If you are wanting to stay in lower Manhattan (FiDi), this is the hotel for you. As stated in other reviews, the hotel is very quiet on the inside. The bar is a nice place to have a drink. They have a restaurant in the hotel that serves burgers and sandwiches - I didn't eat here but the food looked good. The entire staff is great...from check-in to the bellman. I stayed here as I was moving my son into an apartment near Wall Street. If you want to see the attractions, i.e. Times Square and Central Park, it would be best to stay closer to them as the cab rides seem to always be about $20 wherever you go (I didn't venture into the subway). Very positive experience. I would stay here again.

Stayed at the hotel this past weekend. Despite being a very busy hotel, the atmosphere inside is calm. The lobby is beautiful appointed and the staff cannot be more accommodating. The rooms are clean and large by "city standards" and of course there is the Marriott Bed and Bedding. The bathrooms are also large and very clean, the towels are great. There is a Starbucks in the lobby and a decent restaurant, but with all there is in Manhattan, I would save this place for breakfast. The doorman are quick to get you a cab, and it really is a short hop to any place in Manhattan. The hotel is directly around the corner from the 9/11 Memorial, so if you are staying here, go online and get tickets before you go, don't miss the Memorial.

Thank you for your kind advice. It sounds like you had a busy weekend in NYC! I hope you got to accomplish all that you wanted! I am so happy that you had a great time at our hotel. Sounds like you are another fan of the Marriott Bed. Sorry to hear that you didn’t take us up on our complementary 9/11 Memorial tickets that we have at the front desk. Please do so if you visit us next time!

Great service, very attentive, very helpful, (we were from out of town), comfortable with the cleanliness and a good value! The concierge named Troy couldn't have been more helpful :) He went above and beyond to make sure we were always going in the right direction! We would definitely return :)

Stayed here 3 times in the last 5 years and it has always been a positive experience. The hotel rooms seem nicer and roomier than typical midtown Marriott properties. Paying an extra 30-50 for a corner room is worth it as the extra windows provide nice views. Nothing negative to report.

Room Tip: High floor less street noise.

No one to help with bags when we get there nor a valet.

Everyone (inc staff) was standing around inside. Lobby is packed, why? Aside from the huge bathroom lines snaking around the place from the restaurant and Starbucks customers, everyone is loitering trying to get free lobby wifi.

The in room wifi is a rip off, $13/24hrs. In this day and age this is pretty poor, especially taking into account the cost of the rooms here.

No kettle was available, only a small drip coffee machine. Making tea is thus a pain.

Pillows feel very cheap.

Location is ok but you need to catch the subway to get anywhere. Close to statue of liberty ferry. Nearby food options are a bit limited.

Gym is quite good though. DBs to 50lb and two cable machines plus cardiovascular equipment.

Thank you for your candid response. The week between Christmas and New Year’s is always busy in NYC and the New York Marriott Downtown was no exception. I would like to apologize for your experience. This is not the typical Marriott experience and your issues have been addressed with the staff.

On a positive note if you like our fitness center now we will be upgrading it in the near future. We are looking to make the space bigger and add a few more machines. Hopefully you would like the improvements.

Aileen
