“Great location, in the middle of "things."”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 November 2012

Our second visit to NYC found us on a return stay at his hotel. This 40+ floor hotel is top notch, with open, glassed elevators, surprisingly spacious rooms, restaurants, in various price ranges, gift shops, a consierge very willing to assist in getting theater tickets, maps, or answer any questions you may have and a great fitness center. The View restaurant sits on the top floor, with revolving views of the city. After 8 pm there is a cover. Prices begin at $30 . Ratings score it high for views, but mid to low range for quality of food and service. We opted NOT to dine there, this trip.

We stayed on the 37th floor, overlooking Time's Square...facing ABC studios. Granted directly across from us was a large office building, but the wall of floor to ceiling windows allowed for great views of the down town, (especially at night with all the lights) ,

Location is literally around the corner from Times Square. The Roxy Deli, a McDonald's, ABC studios and the TCKTs discount booth for Broadway show tickets are all right there, in that block, along with favorite street vendors ranging from hot dog, peanuts, and pretzel vendors along with purse and scarf "salesmen." Great energy and something going on in every direction. Super location, near theaters, popular restaurants...open late for dining, after the shows, too. A block from Junior's famous Cheese cake restaurant, Sardi's, to name a few.

Suggest a stay here if you want to be in the center of it all.

Room Tip: You can request a room overlooking Times Square...but understandably are popular and often first to...

By no means inexpensive, the New York Marriott Marquis is an excellent destination for that perfect little get-away when you and your significant other want to forget the trappings of the real world while staying in the city that never sleeps. Create your own adventure as you see a Broadway show or two (or—as we did—three)! Shop to your hearts content! Dine at some of the world's most fabulous and famous restaurants! You'll be "Putting on the Ritz!" in grand fashion— the way it was meant to be done! Convenient to most of the theatre district, you're in the heart of Times Square. This opulent setting serves as a refuge from the hustle and bustle that is New York City. While there, you have to experience the revolving restaurant atop the hotel. It's worth at least a cursory look (buy a drink or two). Trust me—you'll love this place!

BTW: there's a major Broadway theatre right on the grounds of the hotel—the Marquis (go figure)! When we stayed there, the show that played there was a revival of "Evita".

Room Tip: Go for the fun of it all and get a room on the Square! Not necessarily the quietest way to do it, bu...

We actually stayed here, the breakfast was well worth the money. It is a bit of an expensive place but it is beautiful and great service.

This is a very nice hotel. The rooms are large by NYC standards. The location is right on Times Square so is excellent if you like being in the middle of all that. You can walk to the theaters, shops restaurants etc. It is a few blocks to the nearest subway if you are traveling about town. There is no frig in the room, the bed was quite comfortable, breakfast was $30 for nothing that special, everything here is pricey but if you are paying $400-$500 for a room I guess you should expect that.

Room Tip: They offered an upgrade to a Times Square/City View for $100/night. I wasn't planing on hanging...

This Marriott is located in the heart of Times Square, steps away from all the excitement that is New York! Lobby is on 8 th floor. We stayed on the 29th floor and had a wonderful view of Broadway. It's true that the city never sleeps. The hotel and room were very clean. The shower was great and we had plenty of towels. Bed and pillows were also very comfortable. Many people serve the front desk so check in and out were very quick.

Room Tip: Request a high floor for the best views.

I recently stayed at the Marriott Marquis with some friends. On the plus side, the location is fantastic (right on Times Square), there's a Starbucks in the lobby (for that morning caffeine blast), and the rooms are perfectly pleasant (nothing extraordinary, but clean and comfortable).

On the down side, it's seriously crowded. Throngs of people in every corner of the public spaces. The elevator system is ridiculous, in that you input your floor number on a keypad, then you are assigned an elevator; the problem is that there's no way for the system to tell how many people are requesting a given floor. On more than one occasion, my group had to redo the request two or three times before we could fit onto one of the crowded cars. It's a small thing, but it was annoying.

As a bit of advice, do not purchase show tickets from the kiosk in the hotel lobby. We were somewhat pressed for time and were exhausted after a long day exploring the city, so we we bought tickets there. Yes, we knew there would be a fee, probably more than we'd consider fair, but we were not expecting an almost 50% markup over the face price of the ticket. Since you are not allowed to see the tickets until two hours before the show begins, it's too late to change your plans. This was our mistake, one we will not repeat, but it was a serious irritation.
