We stayed here over the Xmas New Year period and found this place to be ideal for us (Family with 2 daughters 22 & 16). Close to all attractions, transport & of course shopping. Would stay here again when in New York.

One of the BEST Time Square hotel lives up to its name. Room 3321 had a great view of Time Square. It was comfortable and super clean. It didn't just look clean, it felt and even smelled clean.

Great Staff and always friendly. There is something to do for any interest. Everything is within walking distance and plenty of it. If you are visiting NYC, stay here, grab a map and explore this wonderful city.

I visited the New York Marriott Marquis as part of a tour package in November 2012. My mom and I were travelling together with a large group of people and we were thrilled to be staying at this hotel. The location could not be better as it is literally right in Times Square, with easy access to theatres, restaurants, shopping and the subway.

We found our room to be a standard hotel room with very comfortable beds. The rooms are perhaps a little bit old, but certainly they were clean, comfortable and suited our purposes. As we were in New York, I was not there to spend time lounging in my room and just needed a clean place to sleep! The hotel service was excellent, from the front desk staff to the concierges. One morning, we discovered that our hair dryer wasn't working...one quick call to the front desk and they brought us up a new one within 15 minutes.

We did not eat in the hotel (too many other good options elsewhere in the city!), so I really cannot comment on that at all. We did have one night in the View, the rotating lounge on the top floor of the hotel. The view was gorgeous, but the buffet food was only okay. Thankfully we didn't have to pay for it because the meal was included in our tour package. Otherwise we would have considered it very overpriced for what you get. I was pleased to find that there is a Starbucks on the main floor of the hotel (I'm a coffee addict), but it was very busy so I never bothered to stand in line. The coffee shop on the 8th floor also brews Starbucks coffee and barely ever has a wait - try this instead or just brew coffee in your room.

Disappointed that this hotel only provides free wifi on the lobby floor and not in the rooms. For what you pay for this type of accommodation, the least they can give is wifi access without having to take the elevator all the way downstairs.

As for the elevators, although some people found it confusing, I thought it was a fabulous system once you got the hang of it. All you have to do is punch in the number of the floor that you are going to on one of the keypads and then it will tell you the letter of which elevator to go to. Very convenient! Since there are so many floors in the hotel it prevents you from stopping 30 times on the way up to your room, rather you only stop once or twice. I found this a much quicker way of doing things.

I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

We left the Marriott so disenchanted after what we were hoping was going to be the highlight. Booking 9 months in advance on the hotel website we thought our chances would be better of securing a room with a view for NYE. We paid over $700 a night and when checking in was advised that if we wanted a room with a view it would be an additional $700 per night and $1800 for NYE. Had we have known how much we would have to spend we may have only stayed the 1night instead of the 5. The hotel was so busy understandably but the wait to check in, hold your bags, have something to eat and also the lifts were a joke. The staff lacked interpersonal skills and did not make us feel welcome at all. No fridge and $16.95 per day for wifi?! So the $700 a night gets you a room- just that. Don't expect too much from this place but they obviously have location which i will never stay at again anyway. Completely off Marriott from here on- a little bit of transparency would have been lovely.

We stayed at this Marriott before and before and before and can only sing its praises. I cannot think of a better hotel to stay in while visiting this fascinating city. Friendly and accommodating staff.Good breakfast and evening snacks in club lounge nice big rooms especially the corner rooms with views of the city. We also found the rooms to be quiet with NO noise from the street or the hallways.
Well Done Marriott and Thank you .

Room Tip: choose Corner rooms as they are larger and quieter on high floors
